What day is it again?
May. 29th, 2004 10:50 pm(HP, FFXI, anime. Somewhat mixed together.)
Even though it's "only" Saturday, I decided to catch up on my flist. I kept hitting back and back and back and back... hmmm, why did I have unread posts from Friday? Wasn't I at work on Friday? Oh, right. The holiday weekend. Heh.
I watched the many multi-minute HP PoA movie clips. GAH! GAH! GAH! How can they all be so good? Buckbeak/the patting and flying clip was my favorite. He looks so real! But every clip was just outstanding! I may have to change my mind and brave the crowds to go see it on opening weekend or something...
Speaking of crowds, I didn't get back to the anime con tonight. I played FFXI today, and it did an odd thing. Or maybe it was me doing a odd thing... or my brain. Whatever. Sometimes that game makes me so motion sick I almost vomit. Even if I stop playing once it hits its worst, I still feel close to vomiting hours later. (Like now! Dodge! Dodge! She's gonna blow!) So I didn't want to drive or go out or even walk.
I did something new in the game: I did big-time chocobo digging. (You can rent a bird, and instead of riding it to get someplace, feed it special greens and let it dig things up for you.) I about broke even, I think. Maybe. Two chocobo rides (1,000) and 12 stacks of greens (about 600/stack) so about 8200 total. I dug up two logs worth 2,500 each, and a bunch of other stuff probably totaling about 5,000. So not bad, somewhat fun, and got a lot of attention from people.
I think I made myself sick of cooking today. I logged on, rode back to Sandy, and once I arrived someone paged me requesting 200 stacks of bait! Gah! I told her that I just got back and had zero stacks made, but I'd come and make them by her and she could buy them as I made them, and she agreed. During the day I got requests from two other people for 200 stacks of bait! Fishing bots, anyone? Not that I can really complain, as I made tons of money off it. It's really coming along well: Word of mouth is spreading my name. :) The fishers keep calling me great! (I say "the fishers" because I don't really feel like a part of the group anymore. I make tons more money selling to them instead of fishing myself.) Also, I totally killed the AH market today! Some types of bait didn't sell at all the whole day at the AH, because I was selling directly to people. (And this was with a perfect moon, too!) While I made about 70,000 today, I don't know if I'll do it again tomorrow. The money is good (very very good), but it's not really much fun to do for hours on end.
Naruto #84 was quite amazing, though for a technical reason ... and I didn't even notice it until it was over. The "flashback" to the brother-killing-family thing was done in all dark colors: blues and greens and black and such. It wasn't until we got back to real time and the colors were so bright (it almost seemed unrealistic after all that darkness!) that I noticed how dark it had been, it was just amazing. I know lots of TV/movies use that method, but it worked really, really well there.
I watched the Naruto movie (the one that came out this month). Oh boy, did it suck. The story was horrible, just horrible, and the animation was awful as well. Is it a theater release in Japan? The only thing good about it was the music (which was the music from the series, nothing new). I can't believe how bad it was though, the character design was ... gods. My cat could have done it better. 'Stepping in dog crap' was used as a joke not once, but twice. Twice! Shown in slow motion, then re-shown in four different angles! Twice! So we got to see a slow motion foot stepping in a pile of doodoo eight times in the space of 40 minutes!
I'm trying to catch up on everything I'm behind on (17 eps as of tonight). I watched Midori no Hibi #5, and while it's still cute, I'm getting a little bored of it. The first Ugly and Beautiful World looked... um, interesting? I liked the art a whole lot, but I'm not too sure about the story. (Hard to tell with only one ep though.) I have four Gantz eps, three Monster, three Midori no Hibi, two Aishiteruze Baby eps, and an assortment of others to get through. (And I'm behind in downloading, I think.) I really want to start watching my copy of Gundam Seed. I catch it on Cartoon Network when it's on, but I'd rather watch my copy (dubbed).
It's kind of funny that all the anime being showed at the anime con was stuff I have already. I read down the schedule and kept saying "I have that, I have that, I have that... I have more copies than you of that... I have that..."
I have more FFXI screenshots I want to post, but I need to catch up on my flist first, and I don't think that'll happen tonight. Soon!

Date: 2004-05-30 11:27 am (UTC)As to HP, I'm going on the fourth. Got enough for my ticket and a ride up to the theater, so I'm happy about that. From what I've heard, (no spoiling myself by watching clips. Not me.) it's definitely worth the effort.
[cackles at the FFXI stuff] Lucky duck, with so much money. But yeah, just making things, selling them, and getting cash is boring. Bah.
[wrinkles nose at Naruto movie] So lame. Glad I couldn't dl it if I wanted to. My computer likes being tempermental with stuff over 20MB. XP
Good luck on catching up to all that anime. [pets her manga scanlations instead] >}
