Look! Another post!
May. 29th, 2004 11:51 pmSince I'm still working on catching up on my flist, I have the TV on. Wolf's Rain (*cough*choke*gag*) is on, but I'm sure there's nothing else on, so I left it playing. The voices don't seem too bad at all! I just feel sorry for all the people who are going to think they like the story, then learn better later. Heh.
I'm darned hungry, but it's nearly midnight so there's no way I'm eating.
These Tokyo Pop ads (for manga) make me drool. They show the scene from DNAngel where Light has Dark pinned down on the floor, body covering his, one guy having the other guy's wrists pinned, their faces just inches from each other. One of my most favorite fan service scenes ever! *purr* (Why can't American media cater to female fans like Japanese do? It's not like there's a lack of crap thrown in for men in American stuff...)
If idiots ignore the posted hours in the laundry room again tomorrow, I'm going to do something radical. (They woke me up at 7:30 this morning. Nothing like jeans with many metal parts in a dryer right outside your bedroom window!) I'd like to throw mud in, but I'd probably just leave a nasty note.
And on further listening, these Wolf's Rain voices are rather bad. Painfully so. Fat Wolf's was okay (and the only one I heard when I wrote the first paragraph). Silver haired wolf's voice is horrible, as is girlish-boy wolf's. Angsty Alpha Wolf's voice seems sort of okay. The non-main characters' voices aren't bad. They all sound like the same bunch who dubbed Witch Hunter Robin. I wonder if there are only a dozen English anime dubbing voice actors out there? :p
Boy, I can hardly believe how bitter I am about Wolf's Rain. It had such a good idea to start with! How did they fail to make it work? Who the hell approved four recap eps in a row? A full quarter of the series' eps?
... Oh, huh. I wonder if fat wolf's voice actor is the same one who did Michael from Witch Hunter Robin? Sounds a lot like him.
Back to flist reading! Almost caught up, only 50 more to go!

Date: 2004-05-30 11:48 am (UTC)And yes, those ads are great. Mmm...fanservice for women OUTside of crap like Buffy (that's only my opinion, though. YMMV.) ^_~
To be honest, I'm gonna stick with Wolf's Rain. It may not end well, but it's like a train wreck. You just can't turn away.

Date: 2004-05-31 04:11 pm (UTC)And thanks. I have a feeling I'll need all the luck I can get with this series. It's pretty, but...oh...see my rant about how Funimation handled Detective Conan's first episode. That's how I feel about Wolf's Rain so far.

Date: 2004-06-01 08:28 am (UTC)As for the subbed versions, I've only seen bits and pieces, and I think they're a lot funnier, because the dub cuts out a lot of the more risque comedy.
Now I wanna write Digimon fics...[sighs] That's the problem with getting back into older anime; I also want to get back into the old fandom as well. ^^;
Oh! I almost forgot. There are rumors of a fifth season that's going to start in Japan this fall. I hope they let it run there first (so we can have fansubs) before it makes its' way here.

Date: 2004-05-31 09:13 pm (UTC)Dunno, but I know the group of voice actors that did "X-Men: Evolution" have done a *lot* of anime dubs. A core group of them do "Inu Yasha", and I *really* like their voices.
