FFXI "IC" journal updated: We're off to see the king, the wonderful king of San d'Oria!

Not having a great day. It's 61 outside (COLD!) and the AC has been blasting directly onto me for two hours now. Have my jacket on, still shivering. (The AC repair guy was here yesterday... lot of good that did!)

Feeling sick-ish in general. Slept poorly (as usual).

Was starving this morning (to that point of "I cannot get through the day without breakfast"), so got an egg sandwich. I've been feeling icky about eating eggs for a while now (bird fetus! Oh my god, how gross!), but I really don't want to drop them from my diet. I get so little protein already... (Too bad vitamins don't have protein in them. Maybe I need to start going to Jamba Juice and getting protein shakes as a meal. Need to hit their website and check calories.)

Blah.

Actually, they're not bird fetuses. The eggs you buy in stores and such are unfertilized. Without the sperm, they don't develop, so can't be considered fetuses in any way. It's like eating one of your eggs-no one would accuse you of abortion or killing a baby or anything, because it's not.

That's what I had thought, but on the carton in my fridge it says "fertilized"... (But either way, it's still pretty gross! Would you eat the eggs from a cat? dog? pig? person? lizard? Is it different just because it's bigger?)

I've eaten fish and lizard eggs, as well as the eggs of various echinoderms. Generally speaking, I'd stick to eggs that are made to hatch externally. Mammal eggs aren't high on my list...assuming we have an enlargo-ray to make the whole thing worthwhile, as that still involves more digging in something's ovaries for unfertilized eggs than I'm comfortable with.

That's surprising that they're saying they're fertilized. Even so, they take them away from the hen before they start developing. At most, you're eating a chicken blastocyst or the like, not a fetus.

Given your dislike of vegetables, you really shouldn't give up on eggs, I'm thinking. I'd never go vegetarian, since, aside from liking meat, I don't like beans and I know I couldn't get the protein I need.

Look how handy this is:

20 of the 50 grams of protein you need! Two shakes and you're set for the day. :p

I really need to try beans more... I finally got a cookbook, so maybe I will (someday).

Thanks!

I'd be happy to send you some cold air for some warm! It's only 69 out now, but the AC is *still* blasting! All day! Brrrr!

For breakfast today I had blueberries with vanilla yogurt and some home-made granola on top. With lots of nuts. Nuts and yogurt have lots of protein. Maybe that would suit you?

Mmm, that sounds good! And you'd get some nice calcium, too! I need to go shopping. :)

Thanks for the idea!
