I think I'm making up for lost time with my frequent posting today! (Sorry!) This is a FFXI-only one.

I have been suspecting something for a while now, and I feel it's mostly been confirmed: As with craft leveling, the more points you gain through the turn-in system, the harder it is to continue to gain.

0-60,000 points: Mostly "fair" items, now and then something bad, hard, or expensive to make.

60,000-70,000 points: I started scratching my head more and more. Why did they ask for such funky stuff? Expensive things to make with many items in them. Often requires things that were rare to impossible to get. How odd!

70,000-80,000 points: Okay, it's not my imagination. What the heck happened to asking for fair or reasonable items? The requested item is always one of the most expensive items, nearly without fail.

80,000-current: GAH. Are you people insane? You want WHAT? *sob* You bastards... (Option 2: They ask for a cheap item, but a crazy number of them. See also: 44 rabbit mantles.)

Today's item was a magic belt. It required four things (and a wind crystal, when 99% of leathercrafting needs earth) to make. One of the ingredients cost 5,000 (for one piece, not for a stack). Begrudgingly, I bought three of those 5,000 gil items. Made three belts. Turned one in. Got 500 points for it. BUH? WTF? So for an item that cost about 7,000 to make, you're giving me 500 points? ...*sigh*, okay, let me check how many the limit is. After turning in two belts, I was still able to get 2500 more points. They wanted five more belts. At 7,000 per belt! No no no no no.

Today is the first day that I willingly did not turn in the maximum points. The belt sells for about 9,000 at the AH, so I put the third and final one up for sale. Why does this process (both leveling up a craft and doing the turn-in points) get harder the more effort you put into it?! At 82K points, I'm not about to quit now, but they're taking advantage of that! I work FOR the leathercrafting guild. I GIVE them thousands of gil worth of items every single day! Why the hell do they want to bend me over as well?

(Note: Yes, I know the NPCs in the guild aren't real people. When I say "they" I mean the game designers, the ones behind the actions of the guild NPCs. ...but I hate the NPCs, too. Damned greedy bastards, all of them.)

Oh great, NOW you tell me it's a pyramid scheme. >_> You'd think that the items turned in would at least be put up for sale or something. :/

Also, did you get your Mustang fix this week? And did you get to see the many bearded mysterious humeness?

It is! Evil, evil guild! *sniffle* Taking advantage of poor little crafters...

Nope! I've actually not even downloaded it yet! I need to do that tonight so I can watch it this weekend.

Bearded guys? In FMA or elsewhere? (Either way, nope!)

The Lu Shang Rod quest didn't tell you that -The Designers- are not benevolent caretakers but are actually harsh and cruel taskmasters?

[sigh]

Going to take myself through the Fishing Guild paces (though without the vigor you progress at. I'll do it at my leisure ^^; ) Maybe someday I'll have something to show for it~

*laughs* Everything about the game should tell me that, but for some reason I keep hoping otherwise!

Good luck! :)
