FMA #42 and #43
Aug. 7th, 2004 11:20 pmEdit: One FFXI screenshot! I have so many to process, but I love this one! Heehee. Thistle! Aie! Watch out behind you! (Full sized)
---
How (and why) did I wait all day to watch the two eps? Arg! I'm insane! (Spoilers behind the cut.)
The new opening and closing songs were okay: I liked the video showed during both, but for both the music did nothing at all for me.
Fork fansubs are total ass, but better than nothing. Horrible video quality (kept crashing most of my viewers, could only watch them in one), and in #43 the sound and the video weren't synched up. Sheesh.
Whine! I still have a little hope that Kimbley may be alive, but mostly I suppose he's really dead and gone. He was so arrogant! Insane! I can hardly imagine how fun it would be to RP the character! He's great!
The more I see of Winry, the more I hate her. Hate her, hate her, hate her. She ruins the mood of every scene that she's in. Blech. (I love the book girl though!)
Mustang... *mrowl* There's a shot of him at about 20:47 in #43 where he's more angry than I've ever seen him before. It's almost as if it was the first time he was ever really was angry. Oh my god, I nearly melted! But in a way it was a little scary, too. It was like seeing a totally different side of him. (I can't make screenshots because of the player.)
Scar... Scar. Scar. I like the character, but I seriously question how well one would function after having an arm ripped off. After having both arms ripped off. After having both arms ripped off and shot twice. I don't care how strong of a character you have, I don't believe you'll be doing anything but rolling around on the ground and screaming in pain after losing both arms. Hell, blood loss alone! (Or am I missing something here?) I did like the part about his name though.
In a number of the shots, it looks as if Ed is getting older. Wonder if it's something like different artists, or if he really is changing?
I feel like I'm commenting on just surface stuff here; I feel as though I haven't fully absorbed these two eps yet. If I had the time, it would be an outstanding experience to re-watch the whole series from the beginning. I bet there's tons of stuff we miss by watching it once a week.
I'm told a subbed #44 is out, but I could only find raw. Eeek!

SPOILERS DISCLAIMED TO PREVENT BITCHERY
Date: 2004-08-08 02:57 am (UTC)I dunno...Winry has her moments, but then, I dig mechanic girls. She's frequently quite annoying, true, but I think after that the episode (forget which, the one where Ed's watch is stolen) that was totally dedicated to her pissing me off, everything else is completely tolerable. Not to mention that Pinako utterly rules.
Ah, Sciezca (Or Sheska, or whateverthefuck. You know who I mean). Yes, I approve. Heartily.
The last part of 43 was great, though, if only for starting off the 'It's almost over, time for all the good guys to join up' arc. I'm a fan of Mustang and I absolutely love Armstrong, but Havoc, Hawkeye, Fury, and company are some of my favorites in the entire series. I have a thing for well-developed secondary characters, what can I say?
I do like Hohenheim's memory/time issues. It seems totally reasonable for someone who's been alive for so long to make mistakes like that. It's fun to see a presentation in which 'extended lifespan' and 'eidetic memory' aren't synonymous.

Date: 2004-08-08 03:02 am (UTC)As for endings, there's no contest, however. While the last one (not the new one, but the one before) eventually grew on me, particularly the very end, my favorite is, without a doubt, Tobira no Mukou e, the second ending. A great song, and I absolutely loved the way the ends of the episodes would lead into it.

Date: 2004-08-08 09:45 am (UTC)Fork... my quality and playback has been 100% fine. You may need to upgrade your codecs a bit. I don't know what they're using, exactly.

Date: 2004-08-08 01:34 pm (UTC)Huh! Was the sound/picture in synch on number 43 for you? Could be something on my end though, yeah.

Date: 2004-08-08 08:19 pm (UTC)I did make a point of getting FFdShow 2004 a while back, along with the latest DivX and 1 or 2 XviD codecs, and an ACsomethingorother for sound.

You don't know me, but I know Zabuza...from Fanime.
Date: 2004-08-09 05:48 am (UTC)I saw your pictures of Zabuza from Fanime Con at the Zabuza X Haku community. As a feoolw fan of his I just wanted to tell you that I know him (His real name's "Gabe"), and direct you to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zabuzasfanclub/ which is basically just going to be a collection of pictures of him and his sister Haku. (That's why she's so tall...) So, if you were interested, stop by. I need to finish cropping and editing them, though...I was planning on posting to the ZXH community once it's farther along.
I was also wondering if I could please use your pictures that you took for the site if I credit you? I was a chubby Female Iruka who was hanging out with the Naruto Cosplay group, just in case you were wondering who the heck this is. [radifish [at] sbcglobal dot net]
