Sorry for all the posts today!



I wrote a different sort of "IC" FFXI post today. While usually my "character" is just fluff, someone else's post triggered off something in me, and so I got serious and he (upon rereading this post: eh, 'he' being the character) wrote about his past a bit.

I had totally, totally forgotten that when you RP you actually feel what the character does. Not "know what the character feels" or "can imagine what he feels", you actually feel it.

Wow.

I felt the hurt and the anger and the injustice and the impotent rage in my chest, hot and tight and painful. Needing to strike out at someone, but knowing that fighting would be worse than useless.

How in the world did I forget what RPing could be like? It's like a drug. Seriously. I wonder how I ever gave it up? To feel these emotions that I never would feel during my normal day-to-day life? And to feel them in a safe setting? Just amazing. Seriously, it's like a drug or VR or something. Amazing.

I may have to return to MUSHing one day...

I don't think roleplaying is something you give up, just something you don't always have opportunities for. We'll have to chat about it sometime!

I know RP takes a lot of time, a lot of effort, and you oftentimes (I've been very lucky in this respect on SouCon) have to trudge through a lot of ehhhhh scenes before you get a really great one, but the offer is there and has been there. If you ever do decide to plonk back into our RP world, we'll be more than glad to help you out with it and help you in.
