RL: Stupid work. As if it wasn't boring enough, sitting here without a computer for an hour was much, much worse! Nothing like staring at the wall and waiting and doing nothing! Bah.

Anime: Since FFXI had an hours long upgrade to download, I caught up with a lot of stuff. Got current with Samurai Champloo (three eps, up to #14 -- eek! What an arc!), watched last week's FMA (downloading the latest translated one right now), and three eps of Naruto.

First, it was so great to see all the characters again! Naruto was on the road way, way too long.

But... eh... flying scent marking? Splattering dog-pee? Ugh! (I snickered and squicked at the same time!)

Second, what the hell is up with anime and annoying pigs? First was PMK and that damned pig, now there's one in Naruto... and it's worse! It wears clothing and a necklace! Man, I hate that thing. Every time it comes onto the screen I mutter under my breath "fucking pig" -- I don't even realize I'm doing it till I've said it!

Third, Lee and Gai. While I no longer really get slashy vibes, what the hell? Gai said he'd kill himself if Lee dies? BUH? In 97-98 I felt really, really bad for Lee, but Gai is... wow. I mean, even if they had a father-son thing going on, that would be an odd thing to say! It really IS something more along the lines of what lovers would say! Very odd.

I like... what's his name. Third's grandson. Kohokomokokoookomokoho. I like him a lot more now. Poor kid, trying to defend the office!

What a great series! Such heart! While FMA may have deeper storylines and PoT may have more slash, no series can match Naruto's heart. Every time I watch an ep, I leave feeling good! Better about people in general! How odd that a show could do that.

FFXI: For non-players, the upgrade brought major changes in certain things, and no longer can I make the money I had been making. They didn't cut it back to make it "reasonable" money for the time people spend doing that, they ended it completely. To me, it felt like a game-changing event. And in a way, it really is.

I now have to go back to the old way: Crafting for money. And being forced into that made me realize just how much I HATE doing it. Oh, crafting is fine, but it's the selling part that's hard. You look at the auctions and find an item that sells for more than it takes to make it. You make that item, then list it up for sale. Then what? Over the next days you watch people undercut your price, undercut, undercut. Oh look, suddenly if it sells NOW you'll break even! Oh look... it didn't sell. Wow, you lost money! Oh boy! Isn't this the best?

So I need to make some decisions. I'm not going to quit the game, but I need to figure money out. I tried to think about it last night, but I was too mad to really be logical/reasonable about it.

To burn off some of my anger, I did something that I hadn't in a long time: I went out and killed things. I took my great sword (which is as tall as I am!) and killed cute little bunnies. Lots and lots of bunnies. Oh, there were big bad ugly things I could have killed, but killing big-eyed harmless bunnies made me feel good. (Horrible, isn't that? :) )

I think it was inevitable that this be taken away, based on how Square has dealt with much less dramatic money-makers like carrot broth. That said, I'm glad that you and Russet were able to extract some net profit from it before it went!

I would have been perfectly fine with them making it reasonable, but why take not only every penny of profit out of it, but make you LOSE money to repair them? A balance, that's all I'm looking for.

What's the current sale price of padded caps and strong caps? I heard 800. If that's the case, then if light crystals drop under 800, the caps'll be profitable again.

Also, can you desynth them and sell the bits for profit?

~800, right. However, as light crystals are used to repair other rusty things, I doubt they'll fall that much.

No clue about desynthing them. Maybe I'll try it next time I go out.

To use the water crystal example again, the water crystal price halved when carrot broth was nerfed.

I bet the 10k/12 light crystals price is solely supported by light crystal harvesters scamming their cut off rusty cap fishers. I hear they're more like 3-4k/12 on other servers -- stupid Midgardsormr economy. Time will tell!

Oh, and while I'm chatting, are you still willing to do leather conquest gear upgrades, if I supply components?

Light crystals have sold for as little as 600g in the past. They'll probably drop even lower than that for a bit, maybe down to 500g. On some servers they've been as low as 400.

Royal footman stuff -> Sandy or Kingdom? Sure thing. There's a 50/50 chance I'll HQ it, too.

Yeah, I spent last night taking out my anger on helpless Yagudo. Even though I didn't get Hoo Mjuu, I had the pleasure of watching him die, and I feel better today.

Yeah! I wish those three had been a little later so you could have gotten him!

I think you've pointed out right there, why Naruto has been one of the few series' in the past 3 years which I still love and follow. I stopped watching the anime a long time ago (if only because there were so many series' to watch and I had so little time), but the manga is one of the few I follow religiously. Each chapter does tend to have that effect. Love this series so much. <3

you slashed gai and lee? XD;;;

Second, what the hell is up with anime and annoying pigs? <---LOL I though the exact same thing. I HATE that pig on PMK.

And is it just me, or didnt they finish the operation on Lee before continuing with the series? I've only seen ep 102 but...

No, actually someone dared me to write Gai/Lee slash, but I just couldn't do it! My brain hurts at the very thought!
