I was planning to go vote at lunchtime (I figured the lines would be shorter then), but at the last moment I decided to do it before work. As I had figured, there was a long line this morning! Silly me. I stood out in the cold for about 20 minutes, then my part of the line finally got inside and I stood in the warm firehouse for about 10 more minutes. While I was considering asking for a paper ballot instead of using the touchscreen system, I was cold and cranky and hungry and late for work, so just did the electronic system. While it was fast and easy, I do not like it at all. I'd like to at least have a little printout as proof that my votes were recorded... though I guess even with the old paper system you have to trust that someone won't throw a box of votes into the lake or something. I just have no trust left for our system, not one tiny speck of it. I would fully and totally believe that Bush would break the law to get reelected and do whatever he has to to cover it. And honestly, I don't believe that Kerry wouldn't do that, either. I hate feeling like one of those paranoid tinfoil-hat wearing people, but I don't trust the government one tiny little bit anymore.

After I voted, since I was already late for work and starving, I made the MASSIVE mistake of going to McDonalds to get a breakfast sandwich. GAH GAH GAH. I wish every McDonalds on Earth would vanish (or that I'd be smart enough to learn better). Every time I go to McDonalds it makes me sick. Crappy as hell quality food + mega grease = unhappy Thistle-belly. Luckily my lessons seem to be remembered for about six months, then I drop in for another breakfast sandwich and have to learn the lesson once more. (I read LJs of people who go to McDonalds all the time. How in the heck do they do it? Does your body get used to such uber-greasy and low quality food? Gah. If so, that's almost worse than getting sick from it!)

I know I promised lost of screenshots today, but it turns out my folder is more empty than I had thought! Here's the only one: Ehhhhh. Ow? Luckily I killed him and put him out of his misery!

If you haven't gone out to vote yet, make sure you do! If you don't, you lose the right to bitch and moan for the next four years. :)

(Stupid LJ! Post my post! Work, damn you! "Cannot find server". Grr!)

I used to eat at McDonald's exactly one a year, on the last Friday of July, as part of Bagfest. But the final Bagfest was a couple of years ago, so now I never go there. But even when I did, all I could really eat were the fries.

Eep. Way too much thistle-icon there.

Anyway, Bagfest is when people decorate bags, and wear them, and patronize businesses in Evanston, IL. There's even still a site up at http://www.bagfest.org. Pictures aren't as copious as they could be, but there are some. The first Bagfest was 1993, I believe, the same summer as Neilfest, which was like Bagfest, but without bags.

Sounds odd but fun! And yeah, LJ is messing up (AGAIN). Sorry for the multi-comments!

When I visit Mom we end up going out to eat at least three times a week, mostly because she hates cooking. With Dad, it's maybe a once-every-three-months kind of thing. As far back as I can remember (which is pretty damned far back) we've gone to McDonald's, so it's probably something you become immune to at an early age. Kinda like the chicken pox! :)

Then again, I can eat some really weird things with little problem, so...
