How about something non-political? (HP rec)

In an effort to keep my mind off RL things, I dived into HP fics. I hit isiscolo's recs site and read a few stories. Most were new to me, a couple I had read before, but then I stumbled onto it.

I remember having read Blind, Deaf, and Dumb before, but no more than that. None of the plot at all. I recalled liking it, but wow, I so totally loved it today.

There are many reasons it might not be someone's cup of tea (It's not work safe, easily R or perhaps NC-17. It's borderline chan. It's Filch/Snape.), but for all that, it's just amazing. Snape is still a student (15 years old. What's the cutoff for chan?), and so totally a teenage boy in the fic. (It's amazing that an adult woman can write a teenage boy so well!) Filch is Filch, perfectly IC. Neither character is pretty, but the story works so well. And for me, it was hot as heck! (Nice nice nice little power issues, plus the whole underage thing.)

So, if you need a nice little break from reality, dive into Blind, Deaf, and Dumb!


(I always worry about saying "I like chan", because there seem to be two forms of it. I like pairings where one character is 14-15-ish. Heck, maybe as young as 13. One of the pairing being a real child does not work for me.)

Edit: I feel the need to add a note for non-fandom people, people who haven't seen these discussions all the time: Liking chan (or anything else) in a fic does NOT mean you like it happening in RL, approve of it, or support it in RL. In real life, kids should not be having sex, and they certainly should not be having it with adults!

My flist is becoming more varied, so I just wanted to make sure we're all on the same page about things like this. Fics, RP, IC stuff =/= anything in RL. (Recall the killing kittens thing? IC. Not real.)

Cutoff for chan is fifteen usually, because in most states, sixteen is legal in the U.S. Other countries have varying differences in what's legal and what's not.

Oh, and don't worry about it. If there's anyone who knows about chan/shota/whathaveyou, it's me. ;) (now where are my devil horns when I need them?) While the pairing's not my cuppa, I might check it out because of the need for reading material.

Interesting! 16 seems so so so young though, especially for sex with an adult...

If you checked it out, I hope you liked it! I don't think the pairing is many folks' cup of tea, but it's still a great story. :)

D'oh...I thought you meant general age of consent. For sex with an adult, it's eighteen. ^^; (my bad.)

And well, I got sidetracked with a bit of Final Fantasy fiction. My old fandoms don't seem to want to let me go without a fight.
