I haven't killed myself, and work is going somewhat better than I would have hoped, so yay.

Whoever mentioned Neopets on my flist? You're gonna die. :) I had never checked it out before, so yesterday I went to see what was so interesting about it, and somehow I got hooked. It's so silly! But the same thing that gets me about FFXI got me in Neopets: There's stuff to earn! There's stuff to do! The more you do, the more you earn! And oh no! Some people have more than me so I have to do more and get more! (This is me! Aren't I cute as a button? Eh, or maybe it's my pet and not me, I'm not really sure how all this works yet. http://www.neopets.com/search.phtml?selected_type=pet&string=ThistleBori2 And no, there was no ThistleBori or ThistleBori1, I just messed up somehow while setting things up.)

...damned work. Thus ends this post! Except one last thing:

Sniper's rings are up to 1.1 million now. I hate SE and FFXI.

*mocks mocks mocks!* You're addicted to Neopets! Ah-hah-hah!

See? It's fun! I've been addicted to it for three years now. If you need any help or food or something, feel free to ask me.

Yup, that's your pet, though you can RP the pet as if it were you, if you want. Good choice! The Bori's a very new one. Blue's a good color for it, too.

Hope you have fun!

Thanks!

If you need any help or food or something, feel free to ask me.

Eh, do they need to be fed on a regular basis? I have some odd foods (brain wrap, anyone?), but I've not tried feeding it to the pet!

Well, they have several stages of hungry/not hungry. You can either feed them regularly (once or twice a day) once you have them nice and full, or you can let them get really hungry after a couple of days, then get enough food to stuff them full again.

They won't die or anything if you let them starve, but they won't be very happy about it. :)

Lousy stupid enter key. I wasn't ready!

Ahem. When I only had one pet I found it easier to visit the giant omelette in Tyrannia every day or so and keep him full that way, since one slice of omelette had three servings. Now that I have three pets, it's much harder. :)

Just keep away from things that are poisonous or rotten, or he'll get sick and you'll have to get him healed.

If you need any more help, feel free to ask. You can Neomail 'makyui' if you'd like.

Oh, drat! I have a lot of poisonous and rotten stuff I picked up at that (um, giving? money?) tree. I guess that's why people were giving it away!

Um, hi, I've had you friended for ages but I've rarely (if ever) replied.

I've been on neopets on and off for three years now and I have loads of handy tips.

The best way to keep your pet fed is to put them in the neolodge (http://www.neopets.com/neolodge.phtml), that way they're automatically fed for up to 28 days at a time and it's much cheaper than buying food. If you have less than 3000 neopoints you can also feed them for free at the Soup Kitchen (http://www.neopets.com/soupkitchen.phtml) (do that now, you'll get an avatar). If you want free food there's the Giant Omelette (http://www.neopets.com/prehistoric/omelette.phtml) and the Giant Jelly (http://www.neopets.com/jelly/jelly.phtml).

If you want to know anything else feel free to Neomail me, I'm entityx . :)

Thanks for all the info! I found the soup kitchen on my own this morning (and the lady there said I was rather poor, sniffle!). The giant omelette was one of the first things I tried in the game, and I seem to have gotten a rare piece of it? It says "(RARITY 112)" next to the name. I hadn't known about the jelly one, so thanks again!

The rarity and estimated price listed in the item info rarely mean anything, you're usually better off looking things up in the shop wizard if you want to know their value. Omelettes are rarely worth much however, because they're so common.

I just remembered there was something odd about the way Neopets assign rarity.

From http://www.neopianeducator.com/TNEoctober2003.htm#Article ;

The Rarity Index is as follows:

1-70: common items that are easily found in main Neopian shops and given out by random events.
71-84: rare
85-90: very rare
91-95: ultra rare
96-99: super rare
100-104: mega rare
105-119: Special, these items cannot be obtained through the normal shops. Often these are only given out as part of a special offer or from a special area.
120: These are items given out by the Brain Tree when you complete one of his quests.
121-179: Special. This works the same way as the 101-119 rarity items, but these are usually more powerful.
180: Retired. This item will never again be released and its rarity will never be changed from 180.
200: Artifact. These items are usually sold in the Hidden Tower.

Hahahaha!!! Another Neopets addict! I joined just over a year ago so my son could play, and now I'm more addicted than he is. LOL.

I'm gilbertbella -- look me up! :) I also have accounts at falcoleonis and _tygertyger_. If you need help with anything just let me know...

Have fun! *g*

Yay for Neopets!

Mine are currently having Issues thanks to the lab ray (one got turned into a Meerca, ick! And the other is no longer the same gender as he originated).

*laughs* That lab ray is so fickle. Reegan's having the same trouble. Not only is he (or she) an Aisha, his level keeps dropping.

[looks contrite] Eheheheheheheh. I never knew my confession to it would create an addiction in someone else. ^^;

And yep, that's your pet. Very cute little critter. Mine's a monkey (http://www.neopets.com/search.phtml?selected_type=pet&string=Duochan16), oddly enough. (did you know you can take care of up to four pets at a time? Or adopt pets that have been put up at the pound?)

Hee, yours is cute, too! I don't think I could deal with any extra right now. I'm still figuring things out and trying to collect enough money! (But I bought a plot of land and made a garden, now all I need are actual walls! :p)

Ahhh, I see. Fair warning, though: homes are freakin' expensive and you'd be better off investing your money in the bank. As for money, there's the games room and map areas.

Tyrannia has the Wheel of Monotony and Wheel of Mediocrity if you're bored (monotony takes a looong while, but has good prizes) or think you're lucky (mediocrity can be dangerous for your pets). Both have a small fee and can be played once every two hours or so. You can save money on food by going to the Giant Omelette once a day for a piece of Omelette (one piece feeds a pet four times.)

Faerieland has the Wheel of Excitement for 100nps (once every two hours) and you can heal your pets at the Healing Springs once a day for varied results.

Mystery Island has the Tombola that you can go to once a day for free to try your luck for items and neopoints.

Brightvale has the Wheel of Knowledge for 500nps. You can spin once a day and there are no negative effects on the wheel, so you'll win at least something everytime.

The Ice Caves in Terror Mountain have a Scratchcard seller. You buy a card for 600nps, scratch to uncover three like symbols, and if you do, you win. There's also a beast called the Snowager that you can take items from. He usually sleeps from 10-11pm, Neopian time.

The Deserted Fairgrounds area of the Haunted Woods has Haunted Scratchcards (1000np), Test Your Strength (500np, once a day) and the Wheel of Misfortune (100np, every two hours).

And finally, the Lost Desert has both a Fruit Machine (one spin per day, free) for neopoints or items and Coltzan's Shrine (go there once a day at :00, :15, :30, or :45 on the hour for items, abilities, level ups, tokens, or neopoints.)

Phew. ^^;

Edit: Pets get fed *three* times on omelette, twice on jelly. Money Tree stuff lowers your luck, so if you get too many items, bad events start happening to you. It's more wise to donate to the Money Tree but not take things.

And randomly, I miss my old account. I had the lab ray as well, and between my three pets, there was much gender-swapping, species-changing, color-switching, level-swinging fun to be had.

[sighs]

Ack! I had no idea! I've gotten like 30 items from it yesterday and today. Heh. I'll donate back the things I don't want. Thanks for letting me know!

Ah, no worries. It took me a whole YEAR to figure out why I'd have bad things happen to me so much. Someone on the boards pulled me aside, gave me the proverbial kick to the backside, and pointed out what I was doing wrong.

Gah! So many things to do! :) I haven't even found most of those places yet. :) Woo, now I'm going to explore more instead of play so many games. Thanks!
