And all the little ants are marching
Feb. 15th, 2005 09:36 amIt's been raining since yesterday afternoon, which means the ants have invaded my apartment again. Darned things! Die die die!
Part of me still feels bad about killing them, but they're such unreasonable little bugs! I let spiders live in my home, but if I had a "live and let live" thing going on with the ants, they'd take over! Grrr. I wish they wouldn't invade so I didn't have to kill them.
I'm very, very slowly reading the last Dark Tower book. I got it for Christmas, but didn't start it till a week or so ago. I must have read the last book in a daze (or blocked it from my memory) because there's a lot of stuff that I don't remember. (If you've not read the last books, stop reading this paragraph now.) I don't recall King making himself a character in the book! And I don't like it one little bit... But other than that, I'm enjoying this book now that the pace is picking up. Ted! Ted! Ted is back! I just got up to the first glimpse of him yesterday! One of my most favorite King characters ever! Oh I was so happy to see him now, and I hope he plays a part through the rest of this book! Eee! *loves on him*
FFXI: People are oddly excited about the 800 gilseller/NM camper accounts being banned. But that's only 800 across all the servers. Works out to about 25 accounts per server. It's a start, but I'll be happier if they continue it and keep banning people. Maybe that'd do something for the economy...
I gave in and got another mule character last night. (It's so easy to give in! "Just one more dollar a month and my space issues will be solved!" How often I can say that!) But it was really to the "no choice" point this time -- I need to change the energy in Thistle's house to better support desynthing, which means I'm losing more than half of my space! Eek! This is going to mean big changes: I might stay as DRK 24/7 now and wear that armor, and send all other armor to mules, then I'll be able to use my space for the on-the-fly-crafting supplies I need to always keep on hand. This would mean the end of selling teleports and being able to warp at the drop of a hat (unless I stayed as DRK/BLM, but I'd worry I'd forget to go /thief before farming).
And speaking of farming, it was not very productive last night. I went to the Marshlands to try to farm and kill a Goobbue. Darned things were easy as pie! Seemed like they were easier than everything else in the zone. (Funguars, on the other hand, kicked my ass even when they didn't link. One would be able to bring me down to yellow HP, and I could never drain more than single-digit HP off them!) I wanted to try killing a Malboro (it was TW --), but the LS warned me off them. I won't be returning there to farm there though, because the mobs were spead way way too thinly. Maybe a ranger with widescan could do better, but I spent way too much time running around between mobs. (I killed maybe six Goobbue, but got no good drops.)
Eco tonight. New moon tonight, too. Once more, I'm cursing that my job keeps me away for so long during the day: I have just too much game stuff to do, and not enough time! I really need to stop sleeping or something. :p I should craft some Seer's stuff tonight, but I don't know when new moon/Darkday will hit. (I believe new moon starts at 4:30 my time, so I might just totally miss Darkday... or it might fall during Eco. That'd suck.) I might be able to get my house energy switched in time to take advantage of lightningday/new moon and desynth... *pulls hair out* Too much to do, too little time! I'd consider skipping Eco this week, but my thief job needs that XP! (Gah, have to get the party on Saturday organized, too. Gah gah gah!)
I still haven't gotten to go back to the Meadows yet, and that's something I really, really want to do. I don't think I can farm there yet (I'm pretty sure I can't), but I'd like to explore and see more of it! And the new city and all that!
Just not enough time in a day...

Date: 2005-02-15 11:46 pm (UTC)Yeah. I wasn't thinking about that at the time, because on lower level ones it worked okay (not great, but not so bad that I never drained them). Probably the level difference...
Marbolos are something to avoid until over 50. They have one attack that does most of the status effects all at once. Bad Breath is NASTY. It can get you dead really damn fast if you are alone.
So I was told (and laughed at) last night. :p Luckily once people started going "loldeaddrk" I paused instead of attacking. Since I don't have an XP buffer, I'm trying harder not to get killed this week.
But one day I'll kill them! Rarr!

If I weren't so into FFXI, I'd be a whole lot more into Dark Tower. A real fan would have read the rest of the series before the last book came out. :p Or at least I should have, because I've forgotten so much. I loved the first three books lots, but the ones after that didn't do as much for me. This last book had been coming off as mighty slow for me, at least till Ted showed up. That reaction is as likely to be caused by internal reasons as it is by the book's quality though...
