Same old, same old. Work remains hell. Stress remains high. And it's raining. Again. Most years we get only a few days of rain in the whole year, but this winter it seems endless. So very sick of the rain.

Cheery post thus far, eh?

FFXI: I finally got done with all the CoP Mission "run around" (and a more apt term was never used). I suppose it wouldn't be a big deal for people who can be online all day, but when you have only a few hours online per day, the never-ending running from city to city just to watch cutscenes got highly annoying very fast. No exaggeration: You'd watch three cutsceens in Windy, then need to go to Bastok for one (which means airshipping into Jeuno, then airshipping into Bastok), then back to Jeuno for one, then to Sandy for two more, then back to Windy for another... I spent way too many hours last night just riding the airship from city to city.

Sometimes I pay for being a non-gamer who plays FFXI: Last night we did the "mountain leg" of the mission. (You have to spend an hour walking (not running, walking mode) up the side of a mountain, on a path that is (at the very best) as wide as you are. You can fall down, in which case you have to start over. There was a 60 minute time limit to do it in, and we just barely made it under the wire.) If you play in first person mode all the time, do yourself a favor and get used to playing in third as well; I did the whole trip in first, and I swear it was like doing the task with blinders on. (I couldn't switch to third though because I didn't feel like I had good control that way.) I suspect people who play lots of video games would have had a much much easier time of the task.

We saw some horrible new monsters on the way. Antlions: Cross between evil tick and giant ant! I had joked about them giving me nightmares, but then they actually did! They might be the worst monster I've encountered so far. They looked just like horrible ticks, with spikes all over them and much larger than me. I hate them, and want to go back and kill lots of them.

Walking the straight and narrow. A scene from our trip up the mountain. This was a wider bit of path, so I was able to pause and take a screenshot. Admire the back of Ead's spiffy RDM AF! And how Niala's PLD AF almost seems to shine in the dark! :p And heh heh, if this were real, Mithra would have such an advantage in this task! Those tails would be so handy! And they'd probably have balance to spare.

I need to look up info about that Pso'Xja place, so I can see how much trouble it'll be to do the next part there. Sigh. If only I were a few levels higher, I'd not get aggro in these places! I want to help on these tasks, not be a burden. Bah...

Edit: Gah. Just reading about Pso'Xja makes me want to cry.

Pso'Xja!

When I go hunting Nue, you can head out with me, and we'll get you the things you need there. There's a small entrance to Pso'Xja there, with few monsters, all I can take on a solo basis. It's where I got my gray chip, and it shouldn't take too much effort to get you one, too. :3

I can never play in first person mode because, like you said, it totally feels like having blinders on. You don't get nearly as wide of a field of vision as you should. Plus I prefer to be able to see my hawt elvaan body running around doing stuff. >_>

Heehee. That's funny. The few times I switch to third person is that so I can watch my manly muscular self running. :p

Antlions aren't the only thing Attohwa has to offer. The Corses freaked me out, really o.O; They're undead that can charm you into attacking your party members ; ;

As for Pso'jxa, yeah ~.~ Things were aggroing Nif at lvl 65 yesterday =/ Buuuut, you shouldn't let that discourage you 'cause it's a fun zone to play around in (though it'd be more fun without all the aggro, I admit). So many puzzles *_*

Ah, we didn't see any undead. (We might have been there for a little nighttime, but by then we were up at the top of the mountain.)

They're undead that can charm you into attacking your party members ; ;

Heehee. Okay, that'd be a pain, but also fun! If they charm a you and you attack your party, can your party attack you back? Or just stand there and get hit?

The Corse aren't in an area you would have been to (thank goodness! Those things are IT+ to me at 71 x.x )

I'm not sure if your party can kill you or not. I know that they can (and should, very quickly) sleep you so that you stop attacking them 'cause you can certainly kill them. A lot of Dynasmis parties have been wiped out that way ^^;

So I've read! Dynasmis is one of my big goals, too. AF and Dynasmis. Eee! ^^

Oh, and I sent you some animal glue, in case you don't have any handy for the tanks. Thanks!

Oh, thank you! I was going to ask you if you had any 'cause I know I haven't.

I have 3 or 4 left after sending you 4, but I'm going to try to get or make more. I think I can make it, I just need to look up how... otherwise I'll just kill the gobs that drop it.

Yes. Heh, I've a great story from a friend of mine, a level 60ish (I believe) DRK, who, along with his maxed out BLM mistress, got charmed by the Arch Corse, and after killing their party, spent a good 15 minutes running around the zone in the monster's party killing adventurers, before finally being put down.

Heeheehee. Now see, as evil as it seems, that would be just oodles of fun. "You" run up to some totally unexpecting party and just start attacking them. Heehee.

Thanks for the heads-up on wanting third-person. I really prefer first-person for everything unless I'm resting. I can't tell if I'm resting in first-person view, so I'll usually switch to third-person when I rest so that I can tell I'm resting, and so that I can look for mean monsters sneaking up on me.

Anyway, if it's an hour-long trip, I imagine I'll get the hang of it in that time.

Yeah, I use third-person for resting for the same reasons, and now that I play a melee, once I'm in the battle I switch to third. It's easier to make sure I'm positioned correctly, plus first person just makes everything seem too close to see much.
