Blarg. Couldn't sleep because I was swimming in stress, and more stressed because I couldn't sleep. It's a cycle! It's a ride! It's two flavors in one!

Blarg.

I tell you, I'm insane. Some of the old PokeMUSH folks are staffing on a new MUSH, and, um. I kinda offered to do some code stuff if they don't have a code wiz yet. On one hand, I do not need to become a staffer again! I don't have time! I don't need the stress! ...but. But. But. I miss being able to code stuff, and this Would Not Be My MUSH. I wouldn't have to think about it 24/7, just do code stuff now and then. No other work, just code. I haven't coded in almost a year, so I probably forgot most everything, but I miss the challenge of it. But heck, I don't even know if they have someone doing code yet, so I'm probably dithering over this for nothing.

While I couldn't sleep last night, I came up with a character idea for the MUSH. So silly. I have no time to RP! I wasn't looking for a new MUSH! Blarg.

I think "blarg" has become my new word. Blarg.

---

I'm letting FFXI stress me to hell and back, for no good reason at all. Instead of thinking of everything I need to do and so little time to do it in, I should just sit back and enjoy it... but I have so much to do!

While level 66+ folks probably didn't need little level 48 me's help, I went to help them kill the antlion for pre-CoP 3-5 stuff last night. Since I was there, I was going to climb up the mountain again to do the ENM mission thing, but fell off and had to warp out. Hate that mountain so so much.

Got woodworking from 0 to 13 last night. Unfortunately I'm finding that I don't like WW much. If nothing else, it's hard (as in: the skill ups are really slow). I'd probably place it as the third hardest craft (goldsmithing, leather, then wood). Smithing and clothcraft were about even (not too hard, not a walk in the park). Alchemy was easy as pie, and cooking was even easier. Hm, I'm probably missing a craft in my list, but I'm too tired to figure out which.

Thanks to Niala's day-tracking thingie, I found out that Fireday (when I need to harvest my plants) will happen at 5:36 tonight. I was worried I'd have to skip Eco to harvest, but if the page is right then I can harvest and then scurry off to Eco. And you know, I'm about to stop gardening again. I had said I wasn't going to do the "must plant on X day, must feed on Y, must pick on Z day", but I'm doing just that and it's stressing me muchly. Gardening is a pain in the ass when you work 10 hours a day and sleep a few hours.

Things left to do this week:
Tonight: Eco. Keep working on woodworking.
Wednesday: No plans. Maybe deal with fomor-hate clearing.
Thursday: Beanie's tax day/Castle Oz thingie.
Friday: "Subjob and other static". Blarg. Will have to play thief (blech), REALLY REALLY need two levels on it. Hate having to level a job I dislike.
Saturday: Free.
Sunday: Main static.

Two free evenings out of the whole week. We still need to get chips from Psx'whatever, too.

And one last bit of FFXI babbling: Since at level 63 I'm going to want to use a Bomb Core (it's ATT +12, goes in ammo slot), I won't be able to use my crossbow anymore... so maybe I'll stop worrying about trying to keep marksmanship skilled. I only land about 1 in 40 bolts during XP partying anyway, so... The xbow handy to use it while farming, but maybe I'll give up on using it in XP parties.

Blarg.

Just like leathercrafting takes a certain breed, so does woodworking. If I'm not making bolts for profit now, 99% of my time is used to look up recipes so that I can continue leveling it. I'm going back to my old style of leveling, of choosing recipes 7+ over my current skill level, because I got /results/. The safe way of doing woodworking, unfortunately, leaves you with a /lot/ of product, and I simply don't have the space for it.

So, I'm currently skipping Lu Shang's to work on Eremite Wands. It's a small loss (mostly AH fees and a piece of willow lumber), but a 5k loss beats a 15k loss any day, when the former has a better chance of giving me a skillup for that loss. :3

Yeah. I might take a break before 60, but I sure am glad you're taking it all the way. :)

One day I'll get to the ferry and try to break my rod again, and hopefully you won't have leveled past it by then! Maybe next week I'll have time. (Hmm, got to start thinking about buying stuff for the 3-5 run. And gah, that'll mean no subjob leveling that week. We're going to be gimped forever...)

Well, D might get there before me, but.. eh. >_> I'll get there, eventually. ^^

But don't stress yourself in breaking Lu's.... I'm going on a wand binge once I sell some more bloody bolts (and someone is /still/ forcing the price up to 6k, I know it. I buy the boltheads for 11k... the lumber is under 1k if I completely fuck up. Yet, I can make a stack of bolts from two synths, sometimes, one synth. So for 12k, I can make up to 72k.... how fucked up is that?), I'm going to buy some hermit wands and go all out. :3

I'm glad to hear they're such good money! I'd offer to make you the the heads for cost, but they're just about the only kind I can't make.

I've actually found it rather easy. Once you get past level 20 it's not so bad. Mainly because the arrows/bolts always sell and I managed to even make a small profit getting to 60.. and I wasn't trying. Of course now that I'm over 60 it's gonna be loads harder. @.@

Ah, maybe it's getting over the "20" hump, or maybe I just wasn't in the mood to sit and synth endlessly last night. Good to hear it gets better! Not to mention, profitable! :)

If you think you can get away without the endless synthing.. woodworking is not for you. ;) In that regard its awful.

I tried to make sure the biggest jump I did was 4 levels, so I crafted in my mh a lot, puttering out to bury the mules in items when I ran out of room. Still, even with that I made 30 levels in about three to four days. My biggest issue was space.

*snickers* It's even worst than any other craft I've done, because I'm making so many of the other items. Just today, over lunch:

Light crystals + water = holy water.
Wind + holy water + ingots = bolt heads.
Wind + log = lumber... and only after these three can I do the actual skillup item. :p

And last night was worse, since I was making fletchings as well!

But hey, in the end, it'll be all good. HQing bolts will be love. :)

That's how the guide I'm following is set up, and I'm mostly following that. I'll do up to 6 levels under cap, so long as I use advanced imaging support. (I had forgotten how cheap it is in lower levels! 30! 60! Hee.)

I was lazy and bought everything on AH. Sad that I still made gil.. and there were some instances I made items that were total losses. (Like flower stands..)

Yeah, you know what you're doing when it comes to crafting, so you'll do great. Just be ready for a shitload of stuff that takes a bit to sell. A bit means a few days at worst. Some arrows sell immediately, and others linger for a while. (Like Fang arrows. No one seems to want fang arrows. :P Finally sold them in Bastok.)

That was the one reason I found statics too stressful for me D: I can't meet at a scheduled time every week or every once in a few days, because my life has almost no schedules ._.; For someone like me who goes out one day and stays in the next with no warning, pickups are a godsend.

From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yeah, sounds like that's perfect for you! At the rate we're going with one of our statics, we might have to switch to that...

Woodworking made me cry, but I *needed* it for Ranger. (Yes, need, because, as Ead's noted, even with NQ synths it's cheaper to make my own bolts than to buy finished stacks off the AH.) That said, now that I have it reasonably passed bolt making I'm not that inclined towards leveling it further unless I'm exceptionally bored or something.

As for Bomb Core vs. crossbow, I would still keep crossbow leveled just as a matter of course. You never know when the skill will come in handy [points to Shadowneko] Buuuuuut! I would recommend disabling any macros/hotkeys you have for ranged attacks once you make the switch. I find that switching between Ranger and Monk I always spend a couple days hitting Ctrl+D when I want to attack rather than Ctrl+A >.<; (Which is part of the reason I'm too paranoid to hold my Happy Egg, even though the VIT+1 on it would help my Dragon Kick hit harder =/ )

I'd really, really like to be able to HQ bolts like Ead does. As you said, even with NQ they're profitable, but could you imagine getting 99 in one synth?

Buuuuuut! I would recommend disabling any macros/hotkeys you have for ranged attacks once you make the switch.

Yes, yes, yes. I can too easily imagine throwing the darned thing by mistake!

Be prepared to take it up high, then. XD Bolts are a 16 level synth, but for me to get the HQs that I'm able to do, it didn't happen until 65 or so.

From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yeah. I'm intending to go to 60, but the extra 5 or 6 levels would be worth it for the easier HQing.
