Bits and pieces
Apr. 15th, 2005 11:40 amFirst off: Happy Birthday, Beanie! Have a good one. You deserve it. :)
MUSH stuff keeps me so busy. The morning was gone before I know it! Very nice. It's even nicer to be using my brain for once. No, my work is almost never mentally challenging. MUSH coding is.
FFXI: Okay. Yesterday morning the servers were down, and I didn't care. But being down again this morning? Dudes, I had AH stuff I needed to deal with. You're starting to annoy me, S-E. Stop being down!
Last night was, to sum it up in one word, hard. I was depressed, annoyed, stressed, and wanted to be anywhere but online. I had about 50 stacks of crap to craft, and I'm stuck because I don't have room for all that stuff.
I dealt with plants, then ran out to Castle Oz and the tax event. I got in a few hits now and then (and had the killing blow on a highly surprising number of mobs, for as little as I got to hit), but mostly just ran cluelessly around with the herd of LS people. Saw the leech pool area (which is where I'll need to go for some future mission or AF thing), so that was helpful. Won a nice prize. (Prizes were so cool and so much fun! A great idea. :) ) The whole thing was organized very well, I just was so totally not wanting to be on the game.
I intended to log off after the event, but then it was decided we needed to go farm in Psx'whatever for the chips we'll need for the 3-5 battle. That's a really important thing, so I stayed on and went out. I got to help kill things this time, which was actually fun. I was feeling better by the time we were finished, but...
By the time I got back to Sandy and muled, it was nearly 10 PM and I still had all those damned stacks of woodworking materials. So I decided to craft them then. Went to the guild. Bought support. Tried to synth. Got the error message that the materials couldn't be synthed. Buh? Checked again. Oh, one fletching, not two. Tried again... still errored out. What the hell? Turned out I had the wrong damned lumber. I had 10 fucking stacks of the wrong lumber. (Woodworking is insane. You can make arrows in different ways. Same arrows, but you could use X or Y crystal, X or Y material for the arrowhead, X or Y lumber.) I put the wood from one way in with the head and crystal from the other.
So now I didn't have just 50 stacks of crap, I had piles I couldn't even use! It was another one of those "I'm quitting this fucking game RIGHT NOW" moments. But instead I decided I just wouldn't sleep and would buy the lumber to use up these stacks of crap. (I needed to XP party the next night (tonight) so I had to deal with all this stuff right then.) I sent the wrong lumber to a mule and crafted at the AH, buying the right lumber stack by stack.
I got woodworking up to 25 by the end of the night, but I think I've gotten to the point where I hate it more than I do leather.
Tonight is leveling thief, which will be a joy since I hate the job. But hey, we'll likely not find a WHM, so the night will be wasted just standing around!
Ha ha. I so need a break from this game.

Date: 2005-04-15 07:01 pm (UTC)My getting woodworking to nearly 75 has come from nearly a year's worth of work, and you and some others are doing it in days, taking major losses, and stressing yourselves out beyond belief. ^^; You didn't powerlevel leathercraft that way, and woodworking is along the same vein. There's a lot of materials involved, and plotting to go from 0 to 60 in this craft without loads of mules is, in short, insane.
But, hey. I've already said this a few times, and no one's listened yet, so I'm going to stop saying it. ^^;;;

Date: 2005-04-15 08:30 pm (UTC)Only in some part? :} I think it's mostly totally my own doing, yeah. Part of it is that I was "spoiled" with how darned easy alchemy was, but part of it is just me being bull-headed about it. I don't need to compete with anyone! I should just take a break from it for a while.

:) Thanks for saying it! I'm feeling better today, and will be feeling much better after we get done with partying tonight. (Cross your fingers for a WHM!)
