Apr. 22nd, 2005 09:15 amThings are better so far today. Diet's totally out of control, but what's a little sugar between friends? (And hey, maybe I'm in a better mood because of the sugar!)
FFXI: Once I finally finished getting ready for the mission tonight, my stress level dropped way, way down. I was so worried I'd run out of time and be the only one not ready and get us all killed or something! I'm still excited and nervous, but it's a *good* sort of excited and nervous.
I'm all packed and ready to go. (We're meeting at the outpost in the glacier, I assume? I'm going to stay in Sandy till others are there, since I still get aggro in that zone.) I just need to make some adjustments over lunchtime today (I want to bring a second stack of oils and powders, and (since I have room) my xbow and some effect bolts.)
I suspect I probably have too many hi-potions and hi-ethers, but better too many than not enough.
I have to be really, really careful not to run after the boss if/when it moves. Find the right square and (after a SA at the beginning of the battle) stay on it.
I've watched the video of that other party doing 3-5 like four times already this morning. I'm glad the battle looks easier than 2-5, but it still won't be a walk in the park. I'm very very glad we have so much stunning-power!
I've been thinking about the future CoP mission-battles. I don't think the next one will be too bad (so long as we do the prep work and get as much of that mistmelt stuff as we can). The upcoming Promy one will be... "insane" doesn't even cover it. How the hell does one party fight all three Promy bosses (Holla, Dem, Mea) at the same time? It sounds impossible... I know Mori's group succeeded at it, but I don't understand how it would work. I guess the "party with no healer" rule would need to be used, and... people break off into pairs? One tank and DD per boss? But can two people kill one of the Promy bosses alone? Hm, or maybe it's like the 2-5 fight, and two people kite two bosses while everyone else kills one. Yeah, I guess that's how it's done... But still: Crazy!
I got woodworking from 42 -> 49 last night. Next is scorp arrows to 59 (and making the arrowheads will give me the last couple bonecrafting levels to 53). Once I'm done getting woodworking to 60 I'm going to take bone the rest of the way to 60 as well.
While talking to Chip last night, an idea kind of hit me: I suspect once I get all/most other crafts to 60 that maybe I might go back to leathercrafting. Maybe. Might. Not sure. Gah, I wish I could go back in time and pick my "to 100" craft with the knowledge I have now! I'd never, ever have picked leather if I knew then what I know now... but I put so much work and money into getting it to 86! Well, I don't have to decide yet, but...

Date: 2005-04-22 05:09 pm (UTC)Rrr. Stupid time zones! I'd suggest seeking a group doing it in Jeuno, but... random people... eh.

Date: 2005-04-25 06:33 pm (UTC)I must've missed the call for people to do 2.5, 'cause I'd do it again in a heartbeat. *And* I have no life, so I can do it at a good-for-UK-people time too. :3

Date: 2005-04-25 10:58 pm (UTC)Another thing to be aware of. The level caps keep getting higher as you go through later chapters. Chapter 1 stuff is capped at 30, Chapter 2 and 3 are at 40, and then it eventually moves on to 50. Even if, say, Thistle got ahead of you for a while, he'd be stuck from doing 60-cap stuff until he was level 60, most likely. So there will be later passes of people going through things. It takes some persistence and effort to pull together the stragglers, but it can happen.
