thistlechaserI know I don't usually post on the weekend, but I had the most amazing FFXI dream last night.
Eeee, the only way I could describe the dream is "amazing" -- but for such a simple reason! I was in Ronfaure, just walking along, and the trees were so real. I was able to reach out a hand and touch the bark, I could see moss on them, and how the ground was slightly raised because of their roots. Underfoot the ground was .. "soft" isn't exactly the right word. Giving? You could feel the grass and the dirt below it, firm but not hard. Dream-Ron was exactly as the game-Ron was, with the same rises and dips and such in the right places.
(Ah, I knew I should have came and written this up before taking my shower. I could have probably put it into words better. The wonder of seeing the forest alive was just so incredible! Sorry I can't describe that better. You could just feel how alive it was around you. You could feel the air and smell all the green and it was just so real.)
So there I was, walking slowly through the forest and just enjoying the nice weather. I was headed back to Sandy and not too far from it when I met Jaide. We walked along together, him taller than me, just enjoying the area. When we got to a place with slightly thicker trees (created for/in my dream) we stopped. He was so ... so smiling. Warm and confident and not pushy. And "I" (IC Thistle) was... "frustrated" sort of (wanting Jaide, but be damned if he was going to admit he liked guys too, right?). But Jaide knew how to handle that sort of thing, and the two ended up on the ground together.
(I was seeing all this through two sets of eyes. IC Thistle's as well as outside the scene. While standing Thistle was frowning and confused, his lips pressed together and turned down, but his interest in something physical clear in his eyes. Jaide's smile was almost a smirk but with no hardness/meanness to it, probably he had handled a situation like this before and knew what to do to bring him around?)
Anyway, the "sex" (just their hands on each other, nothing more than that, even the kissing was minimal), was glossed over. (For those who RP, know how sometimes you cover a whole scene in one pose because you don't want to RP it out? It was like that. All the physical stuff was covered in one "pose".) The only exception was when someone stumbled upon us. Hee.
I only saw this because I was seeing outside of IC Thistle's eyes as well. A WHM was headed back to town (she was wearing that "typical" WHM tunic with the two shades of brown), and when she saw two bodies on the ground, of course she thought we needed help so she went to check. Once she realized what we were doing, she left with an amused/wry smile on her face. (Don't ask me how this makes sense, but she didn't get shocked/amazed/upset because she was a high level character. A newer player would have made a scene over the, eh, scene.)
So once Jaide and I were done, we stood up and walked slowly back to town. Jaide had wanted to hold hands while we were still alone in the woods, but IC Thistle was not comfortable with that. (In his head, "But what if someone sees?!" which amuses me now, since he never knew about the WHM's visit.)
I woke up before we got back to Sandy. While maybe it should have been the feelings, "sex", or interpersonal interactions that stayed with me, it was the uttrer realism of the forest/trees that struck me most once I woke up. If I could lucid dream (control my dreams), I swear that I would walk through the FFXI lands every single night. As realistic as the game is, being able to see something as simple as a tree in 3D makes me want to cry in joy now. It was so beautiful and real! (Added in while rereading this before posting it: I know I could step outside and see a RL tree, but that's not the same thing.)
It wasn't till I was in the shower and composing this post in my head that I realized that Ron had had no mobs in it. Probably for the best, as being aggroed by a goblin would have totally broken the mood. :P
I feel like I should probably have changed names to protect the innocent, but I didn't. And, eh, I know I probably don't have to add this, but just as a reminder and to let everyone know that I know: A dream is just a dream. I had no control over it and did not consciously pick the character. RL/"OOC" me has no feelings (other than friendship) for anyone else on the game. :)

Only I was just sitting under the tree, feeling the bark up agaisnt my back, and watched the leaves fall around while the grass was blowing from the wind. It was really pleasant, and FFXI is one of the most gorgeous games I've had the honor of playing.
