My site appears to be down at the moment, so if you send anything to hot-hot-hot-catlove.com, I likely won't see it for a while. Sadly this includes LJ comments.

I love my job! No, of course I don't mean my RL work, I mean my FFXI job. While looking for info on Maat fights, I found this video:
DRK vs PLD in Ballista. Ha ha, that poor PLD gets owned over and over and over again. /SAM's an interesting idea for a DRK sub...

But back to the subject at hand: Does anyone know of a site or board with useful (accurate) Maat info? I've looked at the MT info, but I really want more, especially more first-hand accounts. It's times like this that I wish there were more DRKs around -- I've found tons of MNK and BLM Maat write-ups, but next to no DRK ones.

If anyone suggests Alla, I'll hunt you down and hurt you. :)

The above seemed sort of helpful?

Ohe day! One day I'll get you for that! *shakes fist* :)

Thanks for the links! I'm poking around on Google as well and seeing what I can come up with.

I'm reminded why I must, one day, actually try Ballista.

But only when my weapons are up to scratch. *pokes her hammers* Starlight will not hurt people after all. ;P

You get your hammer up to snuff, then we'll fight each other! Just you and me, one on one. What do you say? ;)

I say I need to go skillup. XD

Heehee! I need to do skilling up as well, but I don't think we're in range of each other. I need to get my great sword and marksmanship up (both are around 100), and of course scyhte needs to be capped.

Darned people need to need more AF keys and G1 items!

Well, I'm reasonably sure that ironshells in SSG are supposed to be able to take you from 100-125~. The thing is I don't know if I can take them without being killed myself. Fighting my way up to 100 in club/staff damn near killed me several times, and one problem with skillup parties is that as a WHM, I spend more time healing than hitting things.

I will get there. Will. *is all determined and stuff*

Hmmmm. Do they go up to 125? I think my skillups were falling to nothing about 100... (unless I'm incorrectly remembering what my GS/marksmanship skills are.)

and one problem with skillup parties is that as a WHM, I spend more time healing than hitting things.

At least your healing skill must stay capped? :P

Haha. Not even close. We level too fast. Every magic skill I have access to is way below cap.

Huh! Well, sooner or later we'll have a "generation" of LS people (Jaide, Des) who need G1 done. That'll be a great chance for us to skill! (Assuming it happens at a reasonable time for you...)

Healing magic is hediously hard to keep capped. Unlike a BLM's elemental magic, which gets capped in less than 10 battles after level, Healing will most likely lag behind due to the slowness of the skill-ups.

One thing that people have suggested is to cure-bomb undead, which is easy to do on paper hunts. As for regular skill up parties, I always make sure that there are either multiple people that can heal, or the mobs are low level enough that Regens will take care of the tanks.

Seriously, if you're looking for first hand accounts Alla is pretty much the only place I know of. You could always search Killing Ifrit or the job forums on ffxionline.com for the "I beat Maat" posts.

Poo. I suppose I'll look there, but take everything with a grain mountain of salt.

Thanks!

That rule should be applied to everything on the internet.

Especially if it makes the poster look good. ;3
