Grumbling about people... continued!
Jul. 18th, 2005 08:39 amWork sucks, but I'm not going to go into that. I have to live it, I don't want to talk about it, too.
So let's have some FFXI grumbling!
I logged on this morning to check if my Lu Shang rod had sold. (Non-players: That's the rod I had to catch 10,000 fish to earn.) Since I knew work was going to suck, I thought maybe I could get some good news. And I did! The rod sold for less than I hoped for, but more than I listed it. (The history was 4 - 4.2 million. Because I wanted to be darned sure it sold the first time listed (78K listing fee!) I listed mine for 3.5-something. It sold for 3... um. 3.7 or 3.8 million, I forget which.) I was hoping it would sell for an even 4 mil, but the price I got was good enough.
In my few minutes before work I caught an airship to Jeuno. I was going to get my Sniper's +1 ring this morning, by hook or by crook! Once we landed, I ran to the AH. Heck, I didn't even run, I hit my flee macro and raced there! And woo! There wasn't just one Sniper's +1 for sale, there were 2!
So I checked the price history. A steady 4.8 million. Buh? Wasn't it 4.2 when I was checking this a couple days ago? I was probably mis-remembering, I supposed. 4.8 was sort of more than I wanted to spend on something I don't really need, but I had sold my rod and so now I had the money for it, so I started bidding. The few non-4.8M prices were 4.7 or 4.6, so I started bidding low. Failed, failed, failed. Finally I hit 4.8M and bid that.
Failed.
I grumbled. I didn't want to go higher and help raise the price further. (In theory I might want a second one in the future, so if I helped raise the price now I'd just be screwing myself over later.) Eventually I bid 4.9M. 100K over the usual price! ...failed. There was no way in hell I was going to bid 5M for it. I tried 4,911,111 and still failed to get it. GRRR! I made myself log out to keep from bidding higher.
DAMMIT. Why the hell do people do this? If there had been only one ring up, I would have thought it was a too expansive listing and everyone was passing on it... but there were two rings up! Dammit, dammit, dammit. I am NOT paying 5 million for a fucking +1! Two more acc really isn't worth it for even 4 million, but fucking 5 million? God damn it.
I'm not sorry I sold my rod (well, other than that Aurian can't use it any longer), but I'm pissed off to hell and back that someone could list a product for 200,000 over the damned price history. Five fucking million gil. Well fuck you, seller. I hope to hell that your rings don't sell. You must have paid about 100K to list the damned things. I hope they get returned to you. Hell, I hope you die. Choke on your fucking gil.
Dammit.
And idiot co-worker still isn't here, either. Fucking hate people so much.
Edit: It's now 9:20, two hours after I arrived at work, and idiot co worker is still not here. Suppose he's not showing up today. Maybe he'll "work from home", which is quite a trick as we do phone support.
Fucking assholes, all of them.

Archer Ring, Leaping Boots, Emperor Hairpin, Peacock Charm
In addition, players may receive an EX/Rare or EX item with the same attributes from the monsters who previously dropped each of the above items."
On the one hand, this will get rid of the gilseller monopolies. On the other, it could cause the price of Sniper's to go *way* up, as the substitute Archer's that Stroper Chyme will now drop will probably *not* be able to be crafted into a Sniper's. Time will tell, but I'm not optimistic.
Anyhow, the person who put the +1's up for sale may or may not have seen that. Either way, price-raising is a jackass thing to do. I've been dealing with it on a much smaller scale. The price of Deft Rings has gone from 90-100k to 140-150k. I don't *need* one, but I had wanted one for when I hit 36 on Dragoon. Now I'm just thinking screw it.

If they'd added an O-kote to the list, I'd be the happiest person in the world. I have been very quickly tearing out my hair in trying to figure out how I'm going to afford this stuff... and then they fix it.
.... And now, maybe I'll add a peacock charm to the list. ^_^

Date: 2005-07-18 05:26 pm (UTC)Pricejacking is never good. I don't care who's the crafter, but the people trying to save up to buy are the ones getting bit in the ass. Just wait, it'll go back down. If it doesn't? +1 aren't worth the millions, if you ask me. ^^ Why I'll never own a +1 Amemememememet mantle or +1 snipers. The +5 Attack and +2 accuracy isn't worth that much of anyone's time.

Date: 2005-07-18 06:00 pm (UTC)If it is a crafter listing the rings: More power to them. I won't be getting the rings, but if they can get 5 million from some other idiot? More power to them.
If I wanted the rings bad enough I would do what others who bitch about high level crafters should do: Level the craft myself and do the synth myself. THAT is what pisses me off in the "Weren't you the one who said that High Level crafters earned their right to pricejack items?" situation. Asses who never bother leveling a craft, yet want high level HQs for a cheap price. You want that? Level the craft yourself. Spend millions to level it, then try the synth. Good luck not losing the raw materials which cost as much as the NQ.
So to repeat: I am angry about the price. Pissed off at the seller. But does that mean that I think they shouldn't list it at whatever the hell price they listed it at? No. It's their damned ring(s), they can list it at whatever they like. I just don't have to be happy about it.
But thanks for trying to "I told you so" me. :)
