My theory on sex, life, and just about everything else is 'So long as everyone involved is an adult and consents, and no one else is harmed, do whatever you like', so it always comes as something of a shock to me when I snicker/giggle at someone's sexual preferences. Following a link in a non-LJ blog, I came across this book for sale on Amazon and I swear that I spent about five minutes giggling and snickering at the cover image. (Note: It's probably not work safe? No naughty bits are shown, but it's suggestive.) The book's title is 'Woof! Perspectives into the Erotic Care & Training of the Human Dog', and that's part of my amusement, I think. "Woof!" paired with the guy in the so so so silly mask (silly in my opinion, anyway) just sends me into giggles.

---

FFXI: Last night was another eye-hunting night. (For the O-Hat eyes.) In about six hours we got... five? six? eyes? Not great, especially when some people came in, killed two mobs, and got an eye. We were killing five mobs every 16 minutes, plus we had TH2 and two or more THs in the party.

I was very, very good hate-wise all night (wasn't bad even once!), which makes it all the more annoying that I nearly died. Our main tank's attention wasn't on the event at all, and he missed the first half of the battles more than a couple times. DRK tank = dead tank. Grrrrrrrr. Luckily rocking Beanie was a great backup tank. But really, at level 72 one should know it's totally unacceptable to keep going AFK without saying anything. Especially when you're main tank. Especially doing it over and over again. Totally unacceptable.

I did end up gaining 12 levels in marksmanship (WOO WOO WOO) and 10 in great sword (...yay...). I have a really hard time getting excited about GS. I know it can be a very good thing for DRKs to use, but... I love my scythe and hate having to use other weapons.

Does anyone have a link to that page that tells you what food to use at what skill level? I want to bring racc food next time, so I can skill marksmanship better. I'd really like to get that up to a level where I could use it in XP parties.

This was a first for me, I've never been involved in anything past a chain 5 before:

Other than some LS drama and the tank issue, the night went mostly well. Eye hunting in KRT was nice because all five of the mobs spawned in one little room, and we have a mostly safe camp next to it. (One bat spawns in the camp, but it's easy enough for a group to take care of.)

I'm really, really not looking forward to going to that Ugg-place and the Den of Rancor. I've only been to Ugg-whatever during Summerfest last year, and it looked like a very aggro-y place.

Exactly. If he didn't have the mask, I could get into it. I could even deal with the little "paw" things on his hands... but the mask? *snicker*

Completely unrelated, but isn't it about time for our yearly social visit? :)

And, if you're amenable, I would love to simply hang out for an hour or two during that and watch you play FFXI, as I've never seen it played and MMPORGs fascinate me. I do not need to be attention-focused entertained to be social. :)

That's sounds faboo to me. You still willing to do Fresh Choice as an eating option? And is Labor Day weekend available for you?

I love Fresh Choice (I was just there on Monday and was thinking I should go more often) and Labor Day weekend looks good right now. Saturday or Monday, anyway. Sunday I have too many FFXI plans to escape my apartment long enough to eat out.

Oh, are you? Is that the O-whatever Con? No worries then. At least we should (BETTER) hit 61 this weekend, and I can deal with missing a week after that. :)

Escort Static is at noon though. We'd have to either go out after that or one of the other two days.

Nah. This is Dragoncon in Atlanta. I'll be gone Labor day weekend. :3

Also! I'll be gone the last weekend in September (from the 23ish to the 26) for AWA. :3 It's con season for me, so I disappear a little more often.

Ah, okay. I doubt I'll remember the September one, so remind us when it gets closer?

And I've spent all week feeling so much better about our plans to go back to the Chasm. I hope the XP just rolls in this week.

Ha. You shouldn't get me looking at my date book. x_x The weekend after AWA, I might be gone as well, as it'll be my last chance to see [livejournal.com profile] lostkun before she's shipped off to Hawaii. However, I haven't heard back from her, so that is still somewhat iffy.

I thought DRK's have an E rating in Marksmanship? I think it caps at 200 for a level 75 DRK, which is ...horribly, really.

The main reason to level Great Sword is to close Light Skillchains - you can't do that with Scythe & H2H (just checked a SC calculator).

Date: 2005-08-19 05:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yep, E in marksmanship. (I had thought it was higher, but I just checked a chart and it was E. I thought it was B...) So right now I'd cap at 171, and I'm still almost 50 under that. Long way to go.

The main reason to level Great Sword is to close Light Skillchains

Yeah, which is why I'm trying to level it. It'd be nice to have it at least at near-useful skill level.

[comforts Thistle] I wasn't going to let you die. I had it targetted for voking and Nif had you targetted for healing the entire time. I was waiting to see if the tank came back (since once I take a mob for tanking, he wasn't going to get it back--especially the Hati.) Alliances like that usually make me a little uneasy just for that reason. If I'm there to tank, I'll do my best to tank. If I'm there to DD, I'll behave and try not to become an inadvertant tank 9.9;

I was actually a little surprised to see him there. I'd told Nif the previous night that we'd sooner have a tank if I cut off my tail and grew one. When I logged in after work, Nif asked me how my tail-tank was coming along. [snickers]

I only get away with the MNK tanking that I do because people are willing to support me and keep me upright. After you left, things got a bit uneasy 'cause we had 2 RDM who weren't supporting me and only Yunchang (as DRG/WHM was curing.) After a round of eyes like that he said it was BS and left. (He also poked them about five times for not casting Protect 4 on me. His Protect 2 was the best I got). He stayed in zone and the next round popped. After the fifth eye was dead I was down to 500hp and Chakra was the only curing I'd gotten during the round. They each tossed a Cure 4 on me once we were done but I was like "~.~;;;". Nif would've been *furious* if I died doing that and had to eat a Raise for a very preventable death. So, um, yeah, I left after that and went back to Goldfishing :3

I am /so/ keeping my ass up next time. That's just.... arrg. x_X

(then again, considering I was casting cure on Auri when she started hitting yellow, when she had one of those RDMs in her party, not really not surprised to hear it. I should be, but. :/ Maybe I'm not as lol as I like to think.)

The next alliance I set up to do this, we'll just end at a set time, unless folks want to remain. That's /stupid/ that you could've nearly died to eyes at are EP-- at /best/, and got two backup healers there.

Honestly I think they should be told pointedly that if they don't do their jobs they don't get to go eye hunting. This stands for everyone.

People HAVE to start listening. In SSG's higher level area, In Ifrit's, and in Den of R.. we are going to have to be fucking careful. People are not being careful. Last night was laughable for how well most minded the 'On the dirt' order.

Can we please start dropping from the alliance those who are making trouble? (And it's not the 70+ melee who can use the damn hat I notice..)

I agree with Draque. Maybe in the next eye-hunting announcement post something like 'Everyone who goes is expected to do their jobs and follow the tail. This is event is not a joke. If you add nothing but dead weight to the alliance, you will not be invited to join future eye hunts.' But it sucks that Ead has to be the "big meanie" in all this. :/

But Ead, you shouldn't have to. These people should be doing their jobs, not ... not just leeching to get eyes. (I feel like I'm in a glass house saying that, since I won't be help on the final fights, but at least I'm trying to help in getting the eyes!) You shouldn't have to be there to make sure everyone does what they should. :/ *snugs lots*

<I.I was actually a little surprised to see him there

As far as we could tell, he was there for skillups, and when he saw he wasn't getting them ... his attention wandered.

After you left, things got a bit uneasy 'cause we had 2 RDM who weren't supporting me

I was sort of surprised the person left in the party with me was RDM, cause she wasn't casting, healing, or doing anything magly at all. :/ And it sounds like she actually got worse once I left. (What the hell? Is it too much to ask you to do your job? If these people were new players I could maybe understand it, but...)

Image There's my picture of it, hehe. First time seeing anything above a 5, actually.

Thanks to Ashn lending me his warp cudgel, I was able to gain 15 levels of club skill. Next time I'll remember to bring a sword and see if I can skill it up a bit.

It'll still be a while yet before I get any of my skills to where they should be. On NIN, katana and ninjutsu cap about 30 minutes after a new level. On THF, dagger caps about 15 minutes after levelling. My other skills are all terribly behind. Throwing is almost 100 under the cap, and evasion is around 50 under. Those will be nigh on impossible to cap.
