Four eyes, two NMs, and one piece of armor (FFXI)

Eye hunting Friday night went okay (four eyes in about four hours -- better than expected on these rarer drop eyes). Unlike the first two eye hunting events, I got nearly no skillups (just two skillups -- skillups, not levels -- on marksmanship. I shot 200+ bolts, but almost none of them connected. Idiot me forgot my great sword, and scythe is capped). We had no tanks, so the fights were harder hate-wise than usual. Apparently I was out-damaging everyone on my normal swings (not to mention WSs) but since I have all damage except my own filtered, I hadn't realized it till someone mentioned it. Oh, I knew I kept getting hate, but I figured it was one of those "odd things that seem to happen now and then". (Those odd things likely come because I'm out-damaging people in other situations, but never know it because of the filter. :P ) Poor Merlee died because we found a NM who didn't seem to be a NM because he was named just like the other mobs around him. Abyss Sahagin! An angry little fishman! (He was in with Pond Sahagin and Deep Sahagin and Other Water Related Sahagin, so who would have guessed?) We fought him a couple times during the night, and he dropped a bunch of high level BRD songs and tests. We got four eyes total, so will need to go back probably twice more. That's not as bad as it sounds, as once we're done there we need to go to two much worse places (IC and Den of Rancor).

Woo woo woo! Last history had been 1.1M, but that was months ago so a higher price is to be expected. And yeah, I know the stats aren't worth the price, but 1) I wanted it, and 2) What the heck else am I going to do with my money? It's six weeks till we're leveling our main jobs again (arg) so I'll have tons of time to make more cash again. Now there are just two more HQ thick pieces I need. (They're sold so rarely!)

I found the second NM totally by chance. Bored out of my mind, I went down to southern CL to farm tigers. (I can make more money easily elsewhere, but sometimes I still feel the need to go kill tigers. They're the "once I'm big I can farm them!" mobs in my mind -- I wanted to be able to farm them since I started playing the game). Orc Trap! I got really lucky to just see him standing (eh, floating) there. No one was around killing Bird Traps to make him pop; I was alone in the zone. As you can see from the picture, he was darned fast. He got 3-5 hits in for every one of mine. He probably took me down about 700 HP (though I recovered ~150 with a Drain). I ended the fight with well under half life. I'm not even sure what he drops, other than it's more than this:


Last screenshot is a close up. It's so cool! :) When I log out, it looks like I'm thoughtfully pinching my beak. Man, I really love my hat. :)

Hojutsu belt's (MP+10) good for mages if MP's your only concern, ~100k on my server.
Nikkariaoe looks like it's a very nice katana with -25% spell interruption. (Just my guess, I don't know my NIN-stuff)

Yeah, very nice. And a good price too, would fetch over 300k last time I looked for it(several months ago, so likely more now) on Midgard(where Thistle and I are).

Drat, wish I had gotten it! Oh well, I'm happy just to have gotten to fight it. :)
