[livejournal.com profile] tersa, think Fresh Choice will be open on Monday (since it's a holiday)? I checked their website, but it wasn't very helpful. If you wanted to see something more interesting game-wise you could come by on Sunday instead. We do a little event (group quest) at noon that would give you a better idea of how the game goes. (If all goes well, we'd be able to leave for lunch around 12:30. If things don't, maybe about 1.) Up to you!

And speaking of FFXI, I got RNG up to 13 last night. Woo woo! And recall how yesterday I mentioned that I never really use widescan? I do use it for one thing: Finding Toro for a free ride home once I'm done leveling. While looking for him, I spotted an odd name. Swamfisk! A NM! LS folks reported he was level 10, so I figured I'd kick his ass!

Ranger Thistle vs. the ugly fish of dooooom!

That whole 'thinking I'd kick his ass' thing was sort of funny -- I've played noting but DRK (61) for so long, even when on another job I see the world through level 61 eyes. "A level 10 NM? Ha ha! I'll one-shot it!" (When I was in the Aqueducts as WHM 38 yesterday, I boggled for long moments about my HP not dropping when I entered the level 40 capped area. "Is it broken? Should I submit a bug or take advantage of th... oh, right. Level 38 is lower than 40. Heh.")

Thankfully I hadn't used my 2hr yet, but even with that it was a damned close fight. Luckily he attacked slowly so I was able to get two cures in, and between those and two WSs I just barely won. (At one point my HP fell to single digits, and I ended with just over 40 HP.)

Even though I wasn't /THF, I got the good drop!

The staff does more damage than my current sword, but is a lot slower. However, with its speedy HP recovery I think it'll be handy in party situations (since I won't be meleeing then anyway).

So tonight's plan is to try to take RNG to 14, then I can party with Ai ([livejournal.com profile] pomr) and hopefully some other LS people on Saturday. (Ai: Check my CTY post so we can set up a time to do that.)

I'm glad you posted at me. :)

I'm betting it will be open, but I'll call them later this morning to verify.

Also: augh. :) Let me get back to you about Sunday rather than Monday after I've checked on the restaurant availability, as I'd made tenative plans to go to a movie sometime on Sunday...but that might be later in the afternoon/evening. Need to hammer those plans out. And it would be very cool to see your questie thing!

I was thinking they'll probably be open, but it'd be annoying to get there and find them closed.

No worries on the Sunday/Monday thing! Just let me know once you know. :)

La! Plans for my movie aren't until the early evening, so Sunday would be splendiferous. And I have a time in which I would get out of your hair, too, as there's something I wanna do sometime between 2-4pm.

11:45am at your place?

And, FWIW, I also verified that Fresh Choice is open regular hours on Monday. :)

Nah, you shouldn't be getting hit anyway. That's more for recovering after soloing something, I think. RNG has archer's knives to equip and stuff later, and swapping out weapons exprodes your TP, so I doubt that would be useful in a party situation. ;3 Grats on the drop tho! :D

Yeah, I know I shouldn't be hit, but especially with pulling it could happen (plus if I messed up hate or something). The whole TP loss thing was what made it more of a pain for using while solo, but still! It's a nice staff! :) Thanks!

The MNK in me longs for your staff.. (Yes it's 8am and I'm giving you a free poke at me ;) It's definitely a soloing weapon. And yeah, you don't want to change you *weapon* as a RNG, but you can change bolts until the sun goes down ^o^ Let's hear it for Bloody Bolts! The bolt that fixes just about any pulling mishap as long as you're not dead when you get back :D

*snicker*snort*

Okay, more seriously: How does the +4 HP recovery work? Just 4 more HP recovered every tick? Or... four times as much every tick?

o.O

If only that is true, I'd marry my Dark staff for the +10 MP recovery X_x

It's 4 more HP every tick ^^;

Eh, I'm sure you and the staff would make beautiful babies together? :P

4 more per tick seemed to make the most sense, but people were very excited over it -- more so than 4 more per tick seemed to be worth. I guess I'll need to play with it to discover its true worth. (I've never used anything like that before.)

The Iron-Splitter I mentioned in my other post is level 72 and is the only other staff with +hhp on it. A level 10 staff that has more +hhp on it would be a freaking God-send to a soloing MNK. Also, see my other post about "next tick is 50" and you'll see why I'd get excited ^^ (Recovering over 1600hp from red takes time, period ^^; )

I'll look for it!

I bet. When I get down to half-life on DRK, recovering 500-600 HP seems to take ages. Makes me miss Ceh so much. :P

When you kneel your base HP per tick starts at 10. Next tick it's 11. Next tick it's 12. Well, for my MNK to be full, I get up to "next tick is 50". That's a helluva lot of kneeling when you started at 10. What +hhp (and +hmp) does is increase the *starting* number. So with the staff equipped you'd start at 14, then 15, then 16, etc :) Mages get it good 'cause they get a Dark Staff (+hmp 10 iirc) and their Clear Mind (up to IV for WHM) increases what the starting number is. I think Nif's *starting* with a Dark Staff equipped is 34 or something like that. ([envies]) I use an Iron-Splitter (+hhp 3) and eat Spicy Crackers (+hhp 7) when I'm resting so my starting is 20/tick. That helps the HP come back a bit faster :) Though the 3 minute cracker usually wears off before I'm done XD; It at least give a jump start :3

Ooooh, huh! I never knew that. I thought HP recovered at the same rate all the time (like always 10 per tick, never changing).

What I'm trying to do is time my sitting to be after I WS, then I can switch weapons without feeling bad for tossing TP.

Lol, before reading this I didn't even know we get a Clear mind IV XD

One thing to keep in mind with +hhp and +hmp is that if you remove the item while still resting, it will revert to the original number. Same goes for food effects. Sucks when your food wears off 1 tick into your rest cycle ==;

Using Dark staff as an example, let's say you've rested for a while and got 50mp this last tick. If you remove the Darkstaff your next tick will recover 42mp, which is 50 - 10 + 2 (the per-interval increase with clear mind 4 according to AK - lol).

Congrats on the drop! :) Too bad it is a Rare/Ex item, I bet it would sell like hotcakes. :) I was thinking of trying for one myself, just so I could level staff better since I'm going to want to do that eventually. :)

As to partying, sure, I'll check in at CTY. :)

That was my first thought, too: Too bad it's rare/ex! So many of the new drops are. My poor safe!
