Yo, [livejournal.com profile] peppygrowlithe, I saw you using "llama" in place of "drama" (I think) in your LJ. Is that a WoW thing, or you being silly, or did I totally misunderstand? Either way, it amuses me and I like it! It lets me say things like:

I'm muchly enjoying the LS llamas in one certain CTY journal.

Because really, who doesn't like llamas? When I first saw the post yesterday, I almost commented. I wanted to defend Beanie cause it looked like this person was attacking her rather harshly and unfairly, but happily I decided against it. 1) It's not my fight, and 2) Beanie is a big girl and can defend herself as she wishes. Seeing all the comments this morning, I'm amused to find that I actually made the right decision for once! Now I just get to snicker at the llamas instead of being trampled by them!

---

RL: Ha ha, I think I still have that lack-of-sleep "drunkness" because everything's funny this morning. Life's pretty good when everything's funny! *snicker*

Okay, I've spent like an hour dealing with customers since I started this post, and now I have no idea what RL stuff I was gonna write about. Oh well!

---

I love all my FFXI friends so much! And Ead might finally be online today! I love everyone so much! And I'm using a lot of exclamation points!

Wheee!

I'm glad the drama happens while i'm away. I don't have the time/effort/desire to deal with it.

99.9999% of all drama is pointless and retarded :P

Which is exactly what this was as well. "Oh nos! Beanie doesn't like my friend! So I shall make a post about how unfairly my friend is being treated!"

I totally did the same thing about that CTY post. Twitched a while wanting to smack people, but then went and fished instead. Fishing was more productive. ;)

At this point I've only been posting about Ead on CTY. The people in CTY have gotten so greedy and selfish (Not all of them of course, but it's the majority now.) that I'd rather just be removed from them. They've been adding the people Beanie and such blocked until she moved to FI full time, and boy.. I'm SO very glad I moved with her. I'll no longer be posting there. It's not worth it. (Not that anyone cares what I post anyway... 9.9; I'll just post on LJ)

Agreed on all of that. CTY has changed so much! It's a sad thing; I had sort of thought that one day we'd go back to being one big group, but now that seems like it will never happen. Oh well. CTY will grow in its own direction and we'll grow in ours.

I should stop posting, too. I get almost no comments there anymore (just Beanie mostly). I guess I'm not connected to the active people anymore.

I like Zoofster, he and I chatted quite amiably yesterday while I was orchestrating our dismal failure of a BCNM run. :) I genuinely think he was trying to squelch a situation that he felt was uncool, and wanted fixed.

That said, his execution left much to be desired. I don't know the details, in fact I don't want to know them. That's between the people involved.

Honestly, I think that leaving CTY entirely might not be that bad an idea. It definitely seems to have gone south once the FI split went into effect, this is not to say there aren't nice people there, but it definitely seems that the ratio of nice:nimrod has shifted greatly towards the nimrod side of the scales.

Which makes me sad.

My knee jerk reaction was to defend Beanie too; she's one of the sweetest, most giving and helpful people I've ever met in my life, Kahri's attacks just made me glad that I never had any dealings with her, and cemented a desire to continue in that vein.

I think I'm going to be deleting my CTY account, and dropping the CTY pearl; not like I have equipped it since the split. FI is much more to my liking overall.

Perhaps, but he was still wrong. His friend DID suck as a WHM, people almost died at Eco because she didn't heal! People never die at Eco! He was totally wrong to attack Beanie for it, but I didn't want to jump in and make the fight worse. :/

I think I'm going to be deleting my CTY account, and dropping the CTY pearl; not like I have equipped it since the split. FI is much more to my liking overall.

Mine's still in my storage. I don't want to drop it, but I suppose when I get into a bad enough space-crunch I will. :/ I keep thinking that things might get better, but it seems not...

I would like to say that it was a lot more than only those Eco events, but am not going into detail about it. Not my place to say..

Still, it wasn't simply one event, it wasn't only her lack of inaction there. Beanie gave her many chances, and Treasa tossed them all out the window.

I genuinely think he was trying to squelch a situation that he felt was uncool, and wanted fixed.

I appreciate that fact. I'll also state, for the record, that the player's skill was exactly 1/3rd of the total problem. I'd also note that the shell leaders of both FI and CTY were informed of the player's Eco status (not welcome) a week before the last Eco and I explained to both in detail as to why. In short, the situation was very much under control and everyone who *should* have been involved *was* involved. But people have a funny way of deciding for themselves whether it's their business or not...

She's *also* a good friend of mine, a member of our static, and I was the one who suggested she come to Eco in the first place.

So, I think we can safely say that in the end, this is all my fault! ;p

You're right. It's your fault that I installed FFXI on my computer, leveled MNK, decided to run a weekly Eco, invited people from various shells to it, and then had it all go to pot. Damn you, Cyd, damn you ; ; [grins]

It's water off the back. They may not see it that way, but that's my advice to everyone who feels they have $0.02 to throw in. A weekly Eco is really the least of their concerns.

No clue. :) The one that bugged me most was Kahri, honestly. Her sniping at Beanie just inspired me to avoid her like the plague.

As to the pearl...I'm going to hold off on dropping it, and on deleting my account at the forum. That's just me being too worked up.

Said person in question has been a good friend of mine for about three years now, so it hurts a little to see him involved. If it weren't for me, he wouldn't even be *in* CTY, so a small part of me feels kind of responsible, even though I know I'm not really.

That having been said, this is not an attack on people. Just a small reminder that there are some people who still have friends on both sides. I hang out in both CTY and FI, and I shall likely continue to do so in the future. I will not try to make anyone like each other, I will not try to make anyone work with each other, and I will not try to make anyone have anything to do with each other. But I will still have friends in both places.

I just don't want to walk into one of the LSes someday and have everyone giving me the cold shoulder because I hang out with *those* people. I think the folks who enjoy my company like me for myself and my accomplishments and my character, and can agree to disagree on some of my friendships. ^_~

I can't speak for CTY, but I can't see anyone on FI hating you because you hang out there. So no worries! :)

And it must be tough having friends on both "sides".

I have this remarkable talent for ending up in the middle of almost every 'net-argument my friends get involved in. It's... almost uncanny.

I will tell you the same thing I told Lin when she asked me about the posting. I feel exactly *zero* animosity towards anyone that's involved. Really, it's not personal. Even after all that's been said I don't take it personally. I'm glad you find good company in both shells ^^

CTY's gotten a lot of new people that I haven't had the chance to meet yet. Lin and I have bounced some ideas for a joint shell event, but nothing too solid yet. (There was that circle event and then the toro thing going on. We figured people might be getting event-weary by now.) Maybe in a little while we can do something :3 I still like our ideas :3~

Cydori? No worries. You're a friend on you own merits, that has and will always be true. :)

My only interactions with your friend Treasa were in the Promy run we did. She seemed okay to me, I don't have any real beef with her. I like Zoofster too. And tons of the CTY folks.

I'm also prone to defending my friends, though thankfully I resisted the urge to post in defense of Beanie-Hime. As has been stated in multiple posts here she's more than capable of defending herself without me adding to teh_angst_n_sturm. :)

I'm grateful people haven't been posting, actually. And I'm glad that I was amongst the first to post and firmly establish that any dealings were between me and Treasa (and JAF, though that's very WTFish for me since that whole thing was a /tell conversation that *she* started and ended amiably as far as I was concerned ^^; ) But, back to the point. I am a big kitten, I can defend myself. I'm grateful others feel inspired to defend me, but I'm also grateful that they're wise enough to let me stand on my own.

Others can make their own decisions on what they want to do. I have my CTY sack, I keep it in my gobbiebag at all times, just like my FI sack. I'll continue to promote CTY and FI and try to advance our shells in a positive way to the rest of the server. I'll continue to try to find and create opportunities for us, since I sincerely want us *all* to succeed in our goals. I'd appreciate it if people weren't doing spitwads at the back of my head while I'm trying to make our shells a better place, but know that, at worst, it's *just* a spitwad and I can endure a lot harsher than that.

You're a good person. :) Rather mature, too!

Especially today, I can see how big of a mess that post would have become if we had all jumped in there. A lot less would probably have been accomplished, too. (But I still want to! No one insults our Beanie! Rarrr!)

Well, *nothing* has been accomplished, that's the problem ^^; People have been riled up who didn't need to be. I hope no hard feelings have been created.

I doubt many people realize just how much work goes on in the background to keep a community running smoothly. The fact that someone decided to take "background" work and drag it up front and scream and holler about it is annoying, but [points] yep, that's part of what I have to do sometimes. It's not always pretty.

None of my decisions are hasty ones. The latest came about over the course of a couple weeks. Please realize that I have the fortitude to follow through with my decisions, whether they're popular or not. So kicking and screaming *really* won't get you anywhere 'cause of the long process it took to get to that conclusion.

People think ahead like "Wow, what are we going to do as a shell in the next week?" Know that I'm looking ahead at the next couple months. I'm watching pieces come into place, helping them move into place, and then snapping the next event into line. [wistful sigh and smile ^^] It's hard to trust me sometimes, I know, 'cause ya can't always see what I've got on the horizon. But know that I usually have pieces in motion. Know that if I'm asking you to do a mission or offering to help or something, it's because I'm trying to nudge a piece into place.

So yeah, spitwads are minor. I've got bigger mountains to move ^^

Date: 2005-09-14 06:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
I wish more people would read this comment. It's not that most people willfully don't know how much background work goes into running things, they just have no experience or exposure to it.

*thousands of snugs to you for all your work!* I have no idea what would happen to the LS if you vanished.

It's hard to trust me sometimes, I know, 'cause ya can't always see what I've got on the horizon.

And I apologize for that and for any (real) trouble I've given you -- random smooches and tail-pullings excluded!

For a long while now (weeks? months?) I've been kind of sort of maybe thinking about trying to get a group together to get those Dune Boots (right name? The kicking boots from QC) for Ead. The idea of having me organize it sort of worries me as I know so little about QC ("Uh, I think there's something people have to stand on to make a door open... somewhere..."), but I know Ead is unlikely to try to get this happening himself. Maybe Draque and I can arrange it together, since he probably knows more about the zone... But the point of this paragraph is: If you need an event to fill in somewhere, poke! (Or are you flooded with events and need fewer of them? :P )

Oh man, brain failing me, but I think it's Nimbex who wants to go get the items for the Promise Badge; the Spinel. The Promise Badge alone is a good enough reason to go down there. It'd hard to arrange an alliance type camp for the drop though, 'cause it kind of sucks. But you need more than a party to get the boots. The NM usually isn't too hard to pop if you go after the place holders. So it's totally do-able.

I've kind of been hoping to intergrate Tyson into this since he has an interest in the boots as well. (As does Valamir, though we haven't seen him much.) But yeah, a very good goal, a very do-able goal. I'd tackle it with the smaller goal first though (going after the Spinel in party sized group, easier to organize) and if you happen to pop the NM, rally the LS to come kill it.

I wouldn't object to helping on this.. I know Nif has offered to help the CTY group too. Just finding blocks of time is hard for me sometimes ^^;

This is not a slight on your hard work or anything like that, but don't forget that this *is* a game, something to be done for fun, and I don't think anybody wants to see you getting burnt out or overstressed or anything along those lines. I highly doubt anyone would begrudge you a vacation if you felt you needed to take one. I certainly wouldn't. ^^

I've never forgotten it's a game. That's why I don't get my tail in a knot and demand that we get things done today, now, should have been done yesterday, etc. But I do want forward movement.
