FFXI/LS people: Want to try something?

While reading a post by my wife-to-be, I cleverly spotted a screenshot of a NM! Stubborn Dredvodd! (Screenshot is abiona's, not mine.) Because we all know I can't leave any NM unturned, I was thinking about riding the barge for a while to try to get him.

Smart-Thistle beats Stupid-Thistle down, then the two go off and have make-up sex.

So anyway! He's a "challenge" for a WHM 50, so a DRK 61 should do fine! (Smart Thistle facepalms.) But while looking at his level, I checked out his drops. Gargoyle Boots! DRG only! (Enchantment: Wyvern gains effect of "Stoneskin".) So maybe Aurian or Cy would like them!

And to kill even more birds with one pebble, we could kill things to get that wood for anyone who wants to do the Teak Me To The Moon (Stars?) quest!

So anyone interested? You can even fish up interesting stuff on the barge! (You'll need CoP access for this.)

I am interested in getting the teak lumber, but I suspect I would die horribly in the process somehow. ;p

(Also, how many charges are on those boots? I'd probably do something stupid with them like burn them out on an XP session, when really they're probably for something like keeping your wyvern alive a bit longer in a mission BC.)

20 charges, I think. If we had enough people no one should die, but I have no idea what "enough" is. Normal mobs are easy as pie to kill (I can one-shot or two-shot them), but this NM orc would be tougher, and I think there's a bigger NM, too.

DRG seems to get some nifty new items with the newer CoP NM. There's one out in Bibiki Bay that Yun and I camped that drops these boots that increase Jump or something like that. You should ask Yun D:

Oooh, yeah, the Jump +accuracy ones. I want those, but I'm reluctant to ask folks for help because they're not a guaranteed drop, and I'd feel really bad wasting folks' time for hours and then not getting anything out of it. ^^;

I've killed that thing a dozen times and never got the drop. .-. I'd be willing to camp it with you, though, if you want. I should farm more jelly anyway.

They're fun to macro into your Jump macro! It makes you blink and then your healer will get really frustrated with you and not heal you anymore! :D

IIRC the Clot doesn't spawn on that beach anymore ;o;! But when I was camping with Yun I had a grand time Clamming and taking turns with him running back and forth to empty our buckets XD; I got enough sellables to break even on the rentals and slugs to eat *_*

I think I was 53BLM at the time, as you can see, I got it down to about half-health. I was neither rested (there had been monsters to blow up!) nor prepared (Orc? What? Where?). In hindsight, Silence or Stun would have been BEAUTIFUL things to cast.

He's DRG/WHM. The wyvern is easy enough to sleep, but I couldn't get it to stick on him. He likes Stoneskin a lot.

He only turns up on the barge with the old man and the tonberry named Roi.

The ooze on the barges drops the teak needed for that quest, by the way.
