My life has gone crazy. No time for anything! Work is... requiring more of my attention than I'd like. (I know, how dare it!) and family stuff is happening. I spent most of the day today not being terribly happy about having to log onto FFXI for yet another night (I keep saying "Tomorrow will finally be a day off!" but then something else comes up that I need to be there for), but it turned out to be the most fun I've had in a long time on the game. Why? No clue at all, other than that the company was good. We had to farm tonberries for objects for a mission on Thursday night. Good friends made for fun times. :)

As far as I can recall, I only got hate once (due to a TA which wasn't lined up perfectly -- though it looked just as lined up as every single other TA!). "Amusing" timing on it resulted in:

Heeheehee. Down to double-digit HP in one hit! Darned horrible evil tonberries. They had some really nice drops though, and I think I came out ahead, even with needing three gold beastcoins for that hate-resetting quest. Well, maybe not much ahead (no clue offhand how much tonberry coats are worth), but probably nearly break-even. Which is really, really good as I currently have zero income. :/

BUT! Speaking of income! Once I logged off of FFXI I hopped over to WoW. I XPed for a short time (one death = end of XPing, even though it was totally my own fault). I needed money (the 50 silver for the next level of skinning, you'll recall), so I decided to deal with that. I did some quests (and ended up making a lot more XP than when I was XPing :P ) and farmed (silly WoW people not liking the word "farmed" :) ) a lot. Somehow, by the end of the night, I had 51 silver! The most I've ever had! So of course I ran off and spent 50 on the training, making me the poorest I've been in a long time. Heehee.

Only one level of skinning left to purchase (five gold! Gold! I've never even had one gold!), then I'll be able to max that out.

FFXI people: Crafting in WoW is so easy I could cry happy-tears. Get some materials (1? 2? a stack? a bunch of stacks? whatever), no crystals needed. With the touch of one single button, the game will do every synth for you. You fail? Nothing lost. And you get a skillup (a whole number skillup) on every synth. Of course that leads to high levels of crafting being basically meaningless, but I can cope with that perfectly fine right now. (Edit: Eh, or I've gotten a skillup on every synth thus far. Don't know if it's unique to my experience or not. 1 -> 23 in 23 synths.)

This is deeper than I want to go into in a "quick post", but I keep asking myself "Which game is better?" and as endlessly stressed as it makes me, and as often as it isn't fun, I still have to say that FFXI is better. FFXI makes me feel more. If I get something, it's because I earned it. The one and only thing I feel like I've earned thus far in WoW is Fluffy -- I had to quest for him, not just buy the skills... and even then, it was a simple as pie quest.

I'm enjoying WoW as a sort of "get away" from FFXI, but I'm really looking forward to the time when I'll be ready to go back to FFXI full time. I don't know how long it'll take me, but I'm pretty sure it'll happen eventually. :) I miss all you LS people so much! I'll be back full time eventually! Don't forget about me! *sniffles*

:)

*laughs* Don't feel guilty about needing time away! Everyone gets burned out from the things they do all the time, every day.. and it sounds like you are going through that.

Enjoy your time away, then come back if you want to. :) I know I certainly do that. I just doodle, or roleplay, watch movies, etc instead of playing Wow.

Heehee! I still grin every time I see that icon. :)

And while I do feel a little guilty, I'm trying not to! :) Thanks!

Once you get out of the lower levels, it will be harder to raise your crafting score. ;) And the materials and instructors will also be harder to find.

Indeed it is. I hate farm... er, I mean grinding for dragon scales. Being a dragonscale leatherworker, it's my most important component.

The word farm is used constantly. Where did you hear it's not liked by WoW people? ;) Certain ones, perhaps, but for the most part, it's vocabulary well circulated around. Mwar!

Oh, that's good to know! I'm having a hard time not using it, since it's, you know, a word I've used for years for this. :P

I got a LJ comment that said "farming" was making money to sell for RL money, and that people would report you to a GM if you even mentioned that you were farming. She said it was called "grinding" in WoW.
