Was it Beanie who said they'd end the weapon skilling on dolphins? From the update:

When engaging a monster with auto-attack, melee weapon skills will no longer improve unless at least one point of damage is inflicted.

Also:

The effects when using the following items have been adjusted:
...Stoneskin Torque/Blink Band/Haste Belt...

Ugh. Three things I'll be using in my Maat fight. They better not have weakened those. Grrr.

Name change: Jaeger Mantle -> Jaguar Mantle. Ugh! Ugh! Ugh! I like Jaeger! Jaguar sounds stupid and boring, Jaeger has personality!

A new Chains of Promathia region known as “Limbus” is now available for exploration.
“Temenos” and “Apollyon,” the two areas within the region, can be accessed after meeting certain requirements.

...like having Al'Taieu ac'cess and other such an'noying stuff. G'rrrr.

Once more, I don't see one single good thing in the update, just a lot of annoying stuff. Maybe this:

-The areas where an adventuring fellow (fellowship NPC) can be called have been expanded.

Maybe that'll make us able to use them in the Meadows, which would make my life much easier!

Yeah, the update seems disappointing compared to the last update.

I'm glad I capped my staff on the dolphins though =P

There hasn't been much of interest for me in any of the last updates, nearly back to when they ruined fishing. I had been excited about the fellowship NPC when it first came out, but I kind of snickered about it as I read mention of them in this one -- I can't remember the last time I used mine! It's been weeks and weeks.

I'm glad I capped my staff on the dolphins though =P

Yeah, too bad they ended that, but I'm glad a lot of LS people got to take advantage of it first!

I assume they changed it because of the dolphin trick, but people have been using sleep and doing the same thing on Steelshells for over a year.

There are quite a few BLM's annoyed at S-E in this patch. The amount of "FY S-E for nerfing aern chains" I've seen on LJ's is rather funny.

Poor, poor them. First RNG gets nerfed, now BLM! Whatever shall they do? Be reduced to XPing like the rest of us lowly non-RNG/non-BLMs?

:P

I wonder where the RNG turned BLMs will go next...

I was thinking about that the other day. I'm really, really, really worried they're going to head for DRK eventually. High damage? Check. Money = "skill"? Check.

It's my job! You losers stay out of it! There are already enough bad DRKs around, we don't need you all, too!

I don't think it is possible to nerf whitemages XD Maybe if they take away our ability to self-Light or something >>;

I'd be highly amused if they all ran to WHM. It'll never happen, but it'd be funny as heck if it did!

You'd be amazed at the number of people with both high level WHM and RNGs X_x

So...don't auto attack. :) Or is that bad?
Never seen any of the items in use, so I won't notice a change if/when I ever do. :)
I agree with the Jaeger/Jaguar thing.
Al'teau? I can't even get to freakin' Lufaise Meadows...so, sure, add more stuff to the areas I'm nowhere near getting to. I'll enjoy them when/in I get there. No biggie. :)

What's the big deal about Aern chains? Sounds like they fixed an exploit. That hardly nerfs the entire job. People are fucking ignorant morons. :) If they leave the class because of ONE exploit fix? Good fucking bye, don't let the net hit you in the ass as you bail, idiot. :)

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. They were using this exploit to get up to chain 200+. But boo hoo hoo! Now they won't be able to!

Hopefully they'll all quit the game in a huff! Yay cheaper BLM gear! :)

Unlikely, they'll just move on to some other job. :/

Their gear will still flood the market and prices will drop. :) Let them run. Eventually the lolBrigade will run out of jobs to swap to, and then they WILL go away. :)

Yay attrition!

Actually...we should be thankful for the lolBrigade! They find all the exploits for SqEnix -- and then they get fixed, and then the game overall improves when they are done.

Eventually the game will be balanced. :)

Eventually they will have sploited themselves out of existance. :)

Nerfing that didn't do anything constructive, it wasn't an "exploit", and the high chains didn't get them any more exp than a regular blm pt. It was just a fun thing to do in sea if you couldn't get a whole party. It didn't have to be all blms, with a rdm to silence and sleep anyone could have killed those it's just mostly blms who solo and farm in sea and not alot of melee who gave a crap to exp there. That's like decresing the number of mobs in KRT to stop MNKs from getting chain 100+ and BLM and SMN pts from getting 8k+ an hour. Any good merit party can get 6K+ exp an hour, though notably a BRD helps a shitton, it doesn't have to have to be all pre-patch RNGs or all BLMs or hell even all NINs. I also highly doubt anyone is judging that as a job nerf, and the people more likely to complain are the NON blms who leeched off those parties :P

Easy there, Southern...didn't mean to stab a finger into an open wound or anything. :) I am so far from having been able to do this that it isn't funny, being a mere level 35. :) As a result I have no first hand experience, only what I've been told by others that have seen it. :)

Now...how do you define a solo character being able to chain in the hundreds as not an exploit?

You cite examples of parties earning massive amounts as XP, and that's great for them. But as the game is designed to nescessitate parties for most of the tougher areas it seems very broken to me for solo characters to get equal or greater XP...hence making it an 'exploit'. The MNKs chaining to 100+ is equally as broken. :)

Isn't an exploit defined as people doing stuff that goes against the intent of the game design?

I don't think an Aern change will make anyone quit (unless they really are that lame) since they didn't fix the problem of the technique (manaburning). I still like.. damn.. whose idea was it? Sylf's? idea of "if you have multiple of the same job in a party the XP gained modifier goes down". Maybe not if you have two of a job, but more than and XP gained starts going in the toilet. That'd be amusing :3

I'm (obviously) unsurprised that they fixed the dolphin thing, though it kills the "Whack the sleeping mob" which has been going on forever before dolphins.

Personally, I wish I was an alchemist right now. I expect the price of consumables to go through the roof as people race to get to sea ^^ Hmm... Lots of gil to be made if you're well positioned...

Half of me goes 'Ugh!' and half of me goes 'Hmmmm'. I hate the idea of taking advantage of people by selling stuff at higher prices, but I do need money...

It really is worth it, especially once you get slightly higher level and can go kill those viney thingies. One vine = one hi-pot = 3K! I go out with ~50 free slots in my bag, come back with 50 vines, make about 50 hi-pots, and make... oh dears, math. Um. A lot of money! They sell nearly as fast as you can list them, too. Sometimes for up to 5K each on weekends! Amazing. I really should do that again soon.

Jaeger mantle

The item formerly known as a Jaeger Mantle is now a Jaguar Mantle, this is true. However, there's a new item in the patch called "Jaeger Mantle", that comes as a Limbus reward.

Or so I understand it.
