In quite an "amusing" twist, stupid FFXI will be down all day on Thursday (a rare day I'll have off from work). Stupid game. I guess I'll be playing WoW for at least part of the day. (I've not played in... three? four? five? days now. :/ At least I'll have a ton of "rested XP", I guess.)

I printed out the info/maps I'll need for the QSC headstone for ZM5, so hopefully I'll get that done tonight. Doesn't look too bad, I suppose. I guess I'll go WHM/BLM for free stealthing, warp, and because I can eat deaths on WHM if necessary. I suppose I could bring my QSC key to try to get a coffer/map, but I died three times the last time I tried that, and the thought of trying it again leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth.

That is because I am SMRT!

Seriously, though, I read not only the article but the comments on it, and came to a few conclusions:

1) Labeling it 'spyware' is the opinion of the poster, and may not technically be true.

2) The WoW Terms of Service explicitly says that they do this, so it's not as if they went out to hide this fact (which is why I'm not sure I would call it 'spyware').

3) It's unclear whether or not they're actually violating anyone's privacy, because the information Blizzard may or may not be getting seems to be encrypted and not raw.

But, it is interesting that there's at least some verification in the ToS that they're doing exactly what I figured someone would be to prevent cheatbots.

Exactly. The information may be gathered but it isn't sent anywhere if it doesn't match the 'ban list', and discarded. Blizzard will not see your private info, and if they do, it's your own fault for having suspicious windows with names like WoW!Inmate. :D

And really, is it a violation of privacy when you click the 'I agree' button to the EULA, when the EULA specifically states that it does this?

Sadly rest XP caps out at one and a half levels. The rate at which you get it is dependent on your level, but I'd guess you have about a level's worth.

I died for a QSC map last night. It was crazy. I was lost, and trying to get near the entrance to rest for some more HP (was orange at the time) without Antica aggro, but the Antica had other plans. So one started casting ancient magic on me, and I ran away like a scared little girl. Eventually there were 5 or 6 on me and out of the corner of my eye I saw a coffer. I had about 200 HP left. I quickly ran up, traded my key to the coffer, and immediately died with the map in my hand. That zone totally sucks. ;_;

Compared to some people, apparently, I found QC a piece of cake as far as coffers/quests/sneaking goes. Mainly because there's plenty of places you can get to when sneak starts to wear that you can hide in and recast. And a few places where the coffers pop, they'll be in a blind spot away from the Antica. My advice is to have your warp method macroed. That way if you do get aggro when sneak drops to open the coffer, you can get out quicker.

Ha ha ha, you'd laugh at how bad of a WHM I am. (I leveled it to 38 before dropping it a year or so ago.) I got halfway through the headstone thingie before I remembered that I had reraise! Hee. And this is the second time I didn't remember till I was halfway done with something! Kind of made me go 'Hmmm, wonder what other interesting spells I might have...'.

Yeah, I did notice there were nice empty places I could pause to refresh sneak.

Just be happy you don't have to go into EN (or do you?), that was the worst of the ones I had to do. Most scary ones would be IC or Den of Rancor though... *twitch*

I did IC, it wasn't that bad if you're careful. There's miners there, so I pretty much put in my search comment I was looking for my AF. Within a half hour of checking the easy spots, I got poked and shown to the coffer. ;3

(Oh, and to Thistle: for the record, mine will be QSC, Boyahda, and IC. I don't have to do EN unless I want WAR, PLD, or RDM AF someday... which may happen in a couple years. ;p)

But, yeah, I do want to try DRK someday. And SAM. And level about six other jobs I've already started on. It's just hard when you get about six hours of play time a week, which is about what I've had lately between RL stuff and maintenance. -_-; Admittedly, a lot of it's been good, fun RL stuff, but I really want to get some more play time in. I'm starting to stress about having RDM ready in time for coffer hunting, and FFXI stress is un-fun.
