I'm rather grumpy for no real good reason, other than I ate really poorly today. Not bad as in "ate a whole cake in one sitting", but more like "think I could possible get one meal in today?". Had grapes and nuts for breakfast (but not Grapenuts, which would have counted as a better breakfast) and had popcorn (and a few more grapes) for lunch. By the time it was a reasonable hour for dinner, I was ready to eat my cat. I grabbed god-awful pizza on the way home (Round Table, the only place on the way home). They're so bad that every time I get them I say I'll never, ever go back... but then I do because they're the easiest place to go. As I was eating I was thinking "Okay, so the sauce is awful, but the crust isn't ba-- no, that's awful, too. But the sauce and crust are awful, but the cheese isn't too-- ugh, that's just horrible, too.".

When I was ready to go online I found that there was nothing I wanted to do on WoW (and of course nothing on FFXI -- that never changes), but I logged on to WoW anyway. I hadn't done a quest in three days or more (just leveling by killing things/farming/leveling Pitch), so I figured I should do one (bad bad sign, I hate when "should" is connected with a game), but couldn't find one I wanted to do. Eventually I settled on that Halloween one, but was annoyed endlessly by it. (It was so FFXI-ish! Spend hours running around from here to there for no reason other than to run around! And man, I hate the Undercity. It took me an hour just to find the damned inn there.)

I have bad luck with Halloween quest rewards, and the first one I got from tonight's quest answered one thing:

Who is the Giant Pumpkin? ...why, it's me!

My "costume" turned me twice as big as usual... and orange. So I was a bigger, ugly, orange bull-man. At least I have 29 more uses, so maybe I'll get a better one at some point.

Hunter foo: I was spending nearly an hour every day to get meat for my pet (he sometimes goes through a stack a day, so I like to keep two stacks on hand), but I found a cheap source of it: In Orgrimmar the meat vendors sell tough jerky (or thick jerky? t-something jerky). You can get 20 pieces of it (a stack -- odd how the number in a stack changes) for 1 silver. As it can take me an hour to farm 10 pieces (also one stack...), I consider buying it that cheaply to be a major savings.

And on the subject of Orgrimmar, a seriously major WoW bitching: Holy cow, Blizzard, you people MUST do something about this lag. FFXI's Jeuno, on its very worst day, is a thousand times better than Orgrimmar's best day. And it's not just Orgrimmar, either. Every single town/city, the moment that city's name shows up on my screen, lags me to hell and back. I'm talking 30-40 seconds of not being able to move/screen frozen.

Also, while I can play FFXI for days and not reboot, WoW requires me to reboot every couple hours (or I lag in non-city areas like I do in city areas). So very annoying.

At least Lost is on now. Hopefully it'll be a good ep.

Edit:

Bah. Oh well. It was a mostly "meh" ep for me. Well, other than the flashbacks. Love Sun and Jin so much!

Annoyed about the ring though though. As soon as Sun mentioned burying the bottle I knew that's where the ring would be. I hate guessing right.

And three more weeks till a new ep? Blech. Why'd we not see more about Rose and her husband? *sniffle*

You realize it probably lags for the spywear in it. n.n; WOW opens every program you have on your machine repeatedly as it checks for third party programs. I'm not certain how often, but it could be as much as every few minutes.. and the more programs you open and close the more resources it drains from your PC.

I've advise you not keep anything of worth on your PC. Not bank numbers, if you pay online, not your SS#.. nothing. Blitzard already knows everything you have on your PC, and who knows what the hackers know.

Heh, I posted a link on my LJ about that story a few days ago. Supposedly how it works is that it checks the processes, window titles, etc against a master list encoded into the game's software, and nothing gets sent back unless it matches one of the "illegal" things on that list.

The guy who wrote the original story called it "one big piece of spyware" (which I had as well, when that was all I had read), but the follow-up reports corrected that story on the lack of stuff sent back. (The first story made it sound like stuff was sent back to Blizzard HQ all the time.)

That being said, I still don't trust it. At all. But luckily I don't keep anything important on this harddrive. (I had joked in that other post that the worst thing Blizzard would find on my harddrive is odd porn. :P ) I'd rahter Blizzard didn't do all that extra checking, but it is in the ToS I agreed to and I suppose maybe it keeps bots and whatever away.

I've no worries about Blizzard. It's those people who hack it that I worry about. :)

That might be why they have a warning showing every time you log in (...don't use third party .exe thingies...). They allow/encourage player-made plugins, so I suppose that hacking is a bigger problem than it would otherwise be.

How's that saying go? "It's not being paranoid if they really are out to get you"? And the hackers really are...

Lost was blissfully all but Jack-free.

Ha ha, Jack's on my screen now. I want my money back!

I thought Ana-Lucia's "So are you gay?" comment to Sawyer was a funny jab at the Lost fandom's penchant for Sawyer/Jack and Sayid/Sawyer. :D

The ring thing was pretty obvious, yeah. WoOoOo, iiiisland maaagic!

I less than three Sun and Jin, though.

Ha ha. And much less than three for Hurley, too.

I liked the episode alright, but yeah, the ep before was much better. Still, Sun and Jin's flashbacks made me all wibbly. I was totally screaming when we finally saw Bernard, and the candy bar thing with Rose at the end. *sniffles* They better have a happy reunion! Oh oh oh, and everyone hugging Hurley in the end too. <3 Also, what is with those previews and their crazy misleading hype? Can't there be a normal preview for once?

Easily my favorite part of the whole ep, though I did (as usual) like Hurley, too.

Yes, yes, and yes! I was so upset that Rose and Bernard didn't get together this week. That'll be so much love! Eeee!

Oh oh oh, and everyone hugging Hurley in the end too.

Yes, and he deserved it so much! Could you imagine how (unfairly) hated he would have been if he hadn't given out all the stuff!

Also, what is with those previews and their crazy misleading hype? Can't there be a normal preview for once?

I basically just ignore the previews now. They've outright lied to us too many times, let alone being seriously misleading every week.

The Halloween thing is the best. I turned into an undead pirate, then a guildmate during a meeting turned me into a leper gnome and a bat. Too awesome.

By the way, a bit of info!

Did you know that my parents went to Round Table on the night of their wedding?

When we went to California a few years back, we went to the same spot. Yeah, the pizza was eh at best. ;)

Still beats Papa John's!

The bat is the coolest one! Well that and the little whisp of glowy light. But I think you can turn into a black cat, too! So far I got the big/orange one twice and a skeleton twice. Bah.

Still beats Papa John's!

Warm dog poop spread thinly on a cracker beats Papa John's. ;)
