Zzzzz. OMG: Zzzzzz. (RL, FFXI, WoW)

I have no idea what was up last night, but "sleep" wasn't it. Every time I think I can't function on any less sleep, I hit a new high. A new low? Whichever. If I got an hour of sleep last night, I'll be drop-dead surprised. (Or maybe I'll drop dead from having under an hour of sleep!) For no reason at all, I couldn't fall asleep. Two hours after I turned the lights out, and I was still fully awake. Some hours later I sort of drifted off a little, only to be woken by my cat. Demanding little creature... She kept me up for hours more (not on purpose, just by ... moving. And breathing. And purring.). Sometime around 5 AM I was still awake (I get up at 6). I might have dozed a little at that point, but by 5:30 my eyes were open and I was awake again.
BAH. BAH. BAH.
Now I'm at work again (boo) in the cold AC (dudes, it's 60 degrees outside! We do NOT need the AC blasting in here), with awful cramps (*cry*), and feel like crap.

FFXI: We're getting closer to O-Hat runs! I was excited to read
gbeans's write-up of it in her CTY journal. On one hand I can't wait to do mine, but on the other... do you really think there's a chance in hell that I'll ever hit 70 (the minimum level to use it)? I look at all the armor I have for 68-69 waiting in my bazaar, and I laugh so bitterly at myself. At the rate we're XPing, S-E will shut down the game before I even get close to 68-70. I can't believe that at some point in the past I actually thought I might get to wear all the good stuff I bought.
(And nope, not blaming anyone other than myself. I'm just highly frustrated and sad. Please don't respond with "Oh you'll get there! Don't worry!" because that's really... not helpful.)
---
WoW: It's funny, but even when frustrated on the game (which is rare), I still have an outstanding time on it. Last night was one of those nights, but I still had fun and ended up laughing at myself (but in a good, non-bitter way) :
Instead of picking random pets and hoping for one with a high DoS, I decided to do research first (gasp! What an idea!) and pick the right one, then go out and find it. I read a few sites and decided that I wanted a worg (which I keep typing as " worf ", heh). One from a small area has the very best DoS rating, plus they're black and look even "cooler" than wolves (like wolves, but heavier in the shoulders and with protruding fangs). Wolves can't use claw, but everything else was perfect so that was good enough!
The only problem (or so I thought) was that these worgs are level 18-19, that'd mean I'd need to level one up almost 10 levels! Ugh. But for a pet I intended to keep from now on, I'd do it.
So off I go, in search of this place I've never been. (Shadowfang Keep or something like that.) Fly to the Undercity, travel through this forest I've never been in, get attacked when I entered a town to see if I could get a spot on the flight path (ha ha, it was mob-owned! Not people-owned!). Eventually I got to the Keep!
My eyebrows raised when I entered: The door was a swirl of light, and I actually "zoned" (there are no zonelines in WoW, this was the first one I encountered). The very first mob I checked had that "elite swirly" stuff around its name. And the next one did, too. And the next one... Bah. This was an instanced dungeon!
While I was checking, I got attacked by a human-mob and its pet. They were only level 16 or so, so I wasn't worried... till I was almost dead. :P Ten levels below me, and these two were kicking my pet's and my ass! After getting those two dead and healing up, I used Eyes of the Beast (my first time ever using it for anything besides fun!) and went off to look and see how far away the worgs I wanted were.
Ha ha ha, that was so much fun! Must be like a suicide pull on FFXI: Ed got aggro in every room, but kept on going, pulling it all behind him. Room after room of aggro, with no sight of the mob I needed. Bah. I zoned out and went home, without a cool black wolf-thing.
It wasn't until this morning that I realized that even if I did somehow successfully clear a path to those higher level wolves, I probably wouldn't last long enough to tame one. (Unlike in FFXI, it takes, um, 20? 30? seconds to tame a mob in WoW. The mob can (and does!) attack you the whole time, you cannot do anything, you just have to stand there and take it.)
So while the plan totally failed, it was still a fun night. :)
EDIT: Oh! I almost forgot! I tried PvP in WoW for the first time last night! Heeheehee. A hume (eh, human, so hard not to use "hume") ??? WAR or PLD and some nightelf ??? chick who kept going invisible were in the Crossroads. Now while attacking a level ??? person would be stupid, three other low levels were attacking them, so I thought I'd join in and then maybe others would, too! Hee. I sent Ed in to attack the (cute) hume, while I shot from afar. Some mage was casting spells and someone else was attacking physically, but we weren't even moving his HP bar at all. :D So funny! Then unfortunately the video on the game locked up. I heard some sort of fire noise, and by the time the video was moving again, I was dead. :( I don't mind dying at all! (Attacking a ??? I expected it!) I just wish I had seen it.
Only problem was, once I raised I was still flagged, and the NE one-shotted me. :( (I didn't even see her around, she must have been invisible or something.) I had visions of never being able to get out of PvP mode (I think it can only time out? Not be turned off otherwise?) and I kept getting killed before I could log out. (I couldn't make it to an inn for an instant logout.) But eventually (luckily) it wore off, and they weren't able to kill me anymore. :P
I can only hope that I was low enough level for it to count as "dishonorable kills" for them. :D

I don't suppose you've considered sleep aids? There are some that you can get over the counter that might help I think.

Date: 2005-10-24 04:55 pm (UTC)I know you aren't pointing fingers, but that's the only solution. Ead and I can NOT level more than one day a week. If you want to level faster then go random party. It's the only way.

Date: 2005-10-24 05:13 pm (UTC)Wait a second, when have I ever said that anything was your fault? When I have I ever said 'The reason I don't get levels/suceed in life is because Draque et al hates me and wants me to fail'? Or when have I called people unhelpful? I would not be where I was today without the help of half the LS and I find it damned insulting that you care to think me ungrateful.
If I do think my not getting ahead in the game, then I ought to throw out my AF, my light/dark staves, never go to Tavnazia again, in fact, start over on a new character because I am perfectly crystally aware that I got where I am with HELP.
But then, you did directly accuse me of ingratitude once before, didn't you?
Frustration at not getting levels, I would like to think is understandable, but if you've been reading my LJ at all, then you must have noticed that I'm planning to do other stuff as well.
'Constant hate filled whinings'? Wow. I didn't realise you thought so little of me. Nice to stand corrected on that one. I forgot I was the only one who complained about 'things that I'll never get to do'.
*finger snaps* Oh wait. I'm not.
Glass houses, D. You want me out of the damned static so you guys don't have to put up with my "hate-filled whinings" anymore? I'll go. Just have the guts to actually say it to my face.

Date: 2005-10-24 05:44 pm (UTC)I thought you were my friend.
And all this time you thought I was a nasty bitch, huh?
Why did you ever delude me into thinking there was any sort of amicable relationship? Was I so nasty you thought it justified? What, were you telling people about how I was horrid?
Besides, what the fuck gives you the audacity to think I was talking about you when I made those 'thinly veiled comments'? The person in question knows how I felt because I told him.
Since you apparently can't stand me, I won't put you through the pain of having to deal with me anymore.

Date: 2005-10-24 06:19 pm (UTC)D /is/ your friend, friends have disagreements sometimes, but that doesn't make them stop being friend. She has never to my knowledge though you a nasty bitch. Nope. As I've known her for sixteen years or so I think I'm probably the one who knows her best in the world, so trust me on this one.
I honestly didn't want to get involved in this situation, but it is way out of hand with people's emotions triggering knee-jerk reactions that everyone will regret.
In all the time I've known D she has never been the sort to delude anyone into anything, in point of fact her besetting 'sin' has been being TOO honest and up front, even blunt. That's just who she is, she'd NEVER try to trick someone into thinking them a friend, and then snipe about them behind their back.
Never.
In truth she would be more prone to sit quietly, take abuse (not that I'm acusing you of abuse!), and let it beat her down until she can't stand it anymore. I've seen it happen, and it was devestating.
As to the comments, I'm not privy to them, but I suspect if I heard a lot of such I might think they meant me too. Especially if one didn't know who they were really aimed at, that isn't spite, that's miscommunication.
Please don't toss friendships aside that /are/ real. We none of have friends to spare.
This is just the result of a LOT of built up frustration on a lot folks parts. Don't be hasty, that's all I can say. I don't want to see anyone hurt, you know?

Date: 2005-10-24 05:25 pm (UTC)Ummmm. Wow. Are we sure that I'm the one who only got one hour sleep last night?
I wrote one paragraph about FFXI (and one post-paragraph note to try to prevent comments like this one). Is there anything not true in the paragraph? Am I not justified to be frustrated? And hell, why am I explaining what I post in my own LJ? It's not like I went to yours and left a comment about how sucky things are.
Why in the world are you taking this as some sort of personal attack? The SITUATION sucks. Partying with randoms sucks. Lack of progress sucks. You suck? No. Ead sucks? No. Cehra sucks? No. Never once did I say, imply, or mean anything like that.
Ead and I can NOT level more than one day a week.
When did I ask for or imply that I want that? I don't want more time, effort, or days for the party. What I'd like is quality time when we do get to party. It's the randoms that is killing that. Not you. Not Ead. Not Cehra.
Your comment was of line.

Date: 2005-10-24 05:37 pm (UTC)I'm burning out. I'm tired of it. Tired of everything. This week showed me just how little time I have outside FFXI. That needs to change. Dynamis has already been stopped. I won't be going anymore.
I'll just back out of static and free you guys to do your own thing. Odds are you'll be happier.

Date: 2005-10-24 05:28 pm (UTC)On a non-PvP server, you can just wait for your PvP flag to wear off while you are dead and in ghost form. The flag wears off after 5 minutes of no PvP action (dont attack anything flagged, or heal/buff flagged players), so it's impossible to get corpse camped on a non-PvP server :p

Date: 2005-10-24 05:34 pm (UTC)Also, Shadowfang Keep (SFK) is a fabulously fun instance. :) You have to go through a series of quests in Silverpine Forest (at the Selpulchur) to get most of the quests for it. However, that wouldn't be a bad thing as it'd get you reputation with Forsaken which pay off in cheaper costs for things like mounts. Food for thought. And yeah, even at your level you want a group in there because the mobs in SFK, especially toward the end, are vicious. :) Good luck!

Date: 2005-10-24 05:38 pm (UTC)Next time I'll just stay dead. :P I had been wanting to try to get to the inn so I could just log out and then later log in (once the coast was clear!) and wait the timer out, but the NE had other plans for me. :D

Thanks! One day I'll go back, either with a group or as much higher level. Then a black wolf pet will be mine! Rarrr!

Date: 2005-10-24 05:35 pm (UTC)Heehee, thanks! I feel the need to edit a "Warning: Drama in comments!" into the original post. :P I also feel the need to run and log onto WoW, where I don't have to interact with anyone other than my pet and the soon-to-be-dead mobs. :D
you can only get Dishonorable Kills from killing Civilian flagged NPCs. You can't get them from killing other players.
Oh, drat! I was reading the manual (trying to find out how long it would take for my PvP flag to fade) and I thought I saw something about killing too far lower level PCs getting you dishonor.
On a non-PvP server, you can just wait for your PvP flag to wear off while you are dead and in ghost form. The flag wears off after 5 minutes of no PvP action
Oh, only fve minutes! Ha! I should have waited longer. :P
On the plus side, I think my armor didn't wear out at all from all these PvP deaths.

Date: 2005-10-24 06:09 pm (UTC)Sadly, that was axed before it was ever implemented. I thought it would have been so cool, but in huge raid situations it would've meant that players would have to be very very careful not to accidentally kill a low level player with AOE or anything like that. So yes, only NPCs with the 'civilian' tag give you a DK, and it doesn't affect your faction rating or anything, just the honor you get for that week.
On the plus side, I think my armor didn't wear out at all from all these PvP deaths.
You'll notice when a mob kills you, if you watch your combat log constantly (I have it open in a seperate chat window), you'll see 'Your equipped items lose 10% durability' or something to that effect. When a player kills you, you won't get that, but just the regular damage from hitting or getting hit.

Oh, huh! I never thought about making it into a second window! I never look at mine, because it's a pain to switch between them. I'll have to try that!
