Taken from the WoW comm ([livejournal.com profile] worldofwarcraft) so if you saw it there first, sorry! [livejournal.com profile] peppygrowlithe I thought you especially might like this:

An Alliance army is marching across the Barrens to raid Orgrimmar when a shaman comes running up and makes a rude gesture at the general. The general points to two of his soldiers and orders them to kill them shaman. The shaman runs away round a mountain and the soldiers follow.

After a few minutes the shaman comes back with no sign of the Alliance soldiers. He insults the general who promptly sends 10 officers to kill the shaman. The shaman runs round the hill and returns again. The general getting very annoyed orders 40 men to kill the shaman. They all chase him round the hill and for 10 minutes nothing happens. Then one badly wounded soilder comes back limping and says "Sir, it was a trap! There's two of them!"

Non-WoW people: The Alliance is the "good guy" side, and as such tends to be younger players. The Horde side are the "bad guys" and tend to be played by adults. Thus for things like PvP and other Alliance vs. Horde stuff (where the good guys usually vastly outnumber the bad), the Horde can do a lot more with a lot less and still tends to win.

*rereads the joke and dies of the giggles*

*giggles*

Frank read that to me this morning and I died laughing. But you know the really sad part? The fact that I found those jokes funny in the first place...

But I found it funny, too! Are you saying I'm sad for laughing at MMORPG jokes?

...wait, don't answer that.

:P

Guess you can really tell which group are the adults. 'Age and treachery will always over come youth and skill.'

I think that's also based in the Alliance's constant bitching about how powerful later-level Shamans are. But yes, it does definately take skill to pull that off ;3 Regardless, this is great. XD (And there has been an attack on Org while I was on once! It was fun charging in with my druid and ripping through people like 20 levels higher than me. XD Gogo Bear form!)

Now that I know my armor/weapons won't take a hit when I die, I'm so totally going to jump in more when PvP stuff happens! Rarrrr! Sic' 'em, Random Pet O'the Day!

Someone was bitching about that in the General chat channel the other day, and started talking about how they should nerf shamans. It took a lot of inner strength to resist the urge to say "OMFG RNG NERF!!1"

*snickers* I bet.

Maybe it's because I always play Horde, and am not really interested in PvP (yet am on a PvP server), but I detect the strong presence of Sheer Stupidity in ze Horde as well. A few examples:

Idiot A: deul?
Me: No.
Idiot A: pussy
Me: /ignore

Idiot B Challenges You to a Duel.
Idiot B Challenges You to a Duel.
Idiot B Challenges You to a Duel.
Idiot B Challenges You to a Duel.
Idiot B Challenges You to a Duel.
Idiot B Challenges You to a Duel.

Idiot C died because he forgot to breathe.

Then I started a Tauren on one of the newer servers ... I swear to GOD, I have NEVER seen so many dead bodies for no apparent reason. The corpses were everywhere. They died of being too stupid.

*rolls* That's too bad. On my server (Feathermoon: PvE, RP) the horde crowd seems pretty darned nice. Even strangers act well together (in the face of PvP stuff) and I see little fighting/arguing.

WoW has so many damn servers that I can actually choose from, I get confused sometimes. XD I remember the days when I began my MMORPG addiction with Ragnarok Online (http://www.linelike.com/ro/albums/ragnarok/npcwarnsyouall.jpg) ... in those days, we had two servers, none of this fancypants "scroll through a hugeass list and select at random!" Just two little wee ones (although the lag wasn't so wee when there were 12k people on them ...). (And now even RO has more ... what, is it four now? Oh, I weep from nostalgia.)

*snickers* Welcome to the barrens. ;) Luckily most of them stagnate and stay there forever forgetting to breathe and falling over dead.

I've noticed that the further away from there I get, the better the people are in general. Aside from Night Elves, they're obnoxious and stupid no matter where I go. (Like the level 38 hunter I killed before they could react. Always fun, considering I'm also 38. ;) )

I have a tendency to remake characters or make new ones all the damn time, so I fear that I shall never escape. XD

I'd argue that the Alliance are really the villains in this game. :p

...though they do completely suck at PvP.

Ah, I don't know enough of the storyline to be able to say. :) I just know that the Alliance are the "people" in the game and the Horde are the "monsters".

What? Monster!? I'm dead hot! XD I'd say Gnomes and Dwarves, with their ghastly proportions (usually consisting of 1.0001 parts noggin, 98 parts boobies, and .00009 part legs and feet), are more likely the monsters of the game.

Oh wow, that's a nice shot!

*rolls* You may be right.

I <3 screenies, so it makes me happy that the in-game screenshot thingie in WoW is tons better than the dark "is that a screenshot, or a rectangular blob?" one in FFXI.

That's actually taken from an old joke of the English against the Scottish. (We were at war once upon a time.) I especially love that joke when it is told in the proper accents, with the Scotsman insulting the English armies. :D

Ah, I'm not surprised about that. All the other WoW jokes I saw on that post were also adapted from currently existing jokes.
