So tired of dealing with idiots. While I have little desire to play WoW anymore, the idea of it keeps drawing me back because I can level without having to deal with people too stupid to live.

Last night an outstanding party (5K/hour) was ruined by an idiot. Our WHM had to leave, so we replaced her with a SMN. I told the SMN (three times) he would be main healer. He didn't heal. People dropped to half-life, no healing. Dropped lower, he calls out an avatar to attack with. Party near death, he finally casts Curage II or III. People go <.< at him and tell him not to use that mid-party (because, of course, he got hate from it). He argued that it gets no more hate than one Cure I...

I was pretty annoyed by that point, and we all (except for him) agreed to disband the party. I looked for a new party for a few hours, and right before giving up I got an invite. The party leader was bossy and rude (bitched at me for not having GS leveled ;; I'm trying!), and the tank was a NIN Taru. I have no idea how the party was before I got there, but we made under 2K XP in 2 hours once I arrived. Taru NIN died almost every other fight. Poor fellow (JP) kept apologizing for it, too.

Saturday morning arrives. Yes, I know I need to skill my GS, so I set out to do that. Sit in Jeuno listening to /shout spam for 4 hours (and seeking XP party all that time) before I could finally get something. We go out and skill for maybe 1.5 hours (got 10+ levels of GS!) then the party breaks. I go back to Jeuno, listen to /shouts for a couple hours more, no XP party invites.

Checking /search, I saw a PLD and healer seeking, so I invite them to party. Get more members. No BRDs or RDMs are seeking within 10 levels of us. But guess what! Asshole idiot PLD refuses to party without one! Me: "None are seeking..." Him: "Well get one!" Me: "..." Fucking hell, idiot, do you expect me to have sex, give birth, and raise the kid into a refresher for you, all in the time it takes for the party to gather? ANYONE can use the /search command! Look for yourself! I cannot make a damned RDM or BRD appear out of thin air!

So I have to look like an idiot and tell the rest of the party that the party is off (and I spent 9K getting there myself). GRRRR. Fucking idiots.

So back to doing the thing I do most in this damned game: Sitting around, doing nothing, waiting for someone to want me. (We're up to 8.5 hours of seeking with not a single invite! Woo woo!) Finally another skill up party got together, so I joined that. Got 5 or so levels in it before it broke up (under an hour). Still need almost 75 levels of GS. Parties already don't want me (see that 8.5 hours of seeking!) and without GS leveled? I might as well go stick my head into a wood chipper.

It's so easy to hate this game. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Hours sitting around, when if I played a RDM, BRD, or healer I could get invites in seconds. What a waste.

Ow. Talk about a streak of bad luck. >.o Take a break and stop seeking for a bit? Or seek while farming so it doesn't matter if you get a party or not? Sitting around is bleh when it comes to waiting z.z

It went up to 11 hours of seeking today before I gave up. And unfortunately this isn't bad luck, last weekend was the same (10+ hours seeking, no invites).

If I could make a (somewhat obvious) suggestion: try and get a BRD or RDM first when starting your parties. It's true that a party can function without one, but it does limit your party options.

You won't be able to dispel mobs, MP regen will be limited, and a BRD's buffs work wonders on melees, and your odds of sleeping a link are reduced.

Agreed, as much as I hate to say it, peolpe would rather party without a main healer than a refresher =x.

Hard as it may to believe, but WHMs don't get insta parties >>;. RDMs and BRDs, maybe. It really depends on your luck and time of day. I know it's not as bad as melees get but I've had to seek for a few hours before >>;

I could deal with not getting instant parties, but I had my flag up for a grand total of 11 hours today, and did not get one single invite.

How is anyone supposed to ever level like that? *beats S-E with a brick*

If they were around/seeking, I'd be happy to grab them, but even when they are seeking their first question is "What members do you have now?".

Most of my parties thus far have not had a BRD/RDM. If every party needed one, then I'd be in bad, bad trouble. I'm not arguing that they're nice to have, but ... gods. I get so few parties as it is, if I only had one when it had a refresher, I would be many levels lower than I am now.

I know it seems that way, but I have had as many parties where we never got off the ground because we just needed ONE more melee, or a tank, or a refresher, or a main healer. It's all about job availability at a certain level. If there isn't a need for melee, you are going to have to A) try different times, B) let the wave of regular players pass into the next tier.

I have played rdm and nin to 75, and constantly see people saying as a smn, whm etc "If only I were a rdm I'd get invites faster" as pld or war saying "If only I were a nin" and as all melee used to "If only I were a rng". I'm playing smn now, a job that has supposed trouble getting invites, and I can barely tell the difference.
I either get an invite within a decent amount of time, or I seek all night to no avail regardless. This is why I never get merits ;P

The HOLY example: You wouldn't think it possible to run out warriors in Valkurm, until you need one, and there are none. ;)

Huh, that's surprising! And I didn't think of " B) let the wave of regular players pass into the next tier. ". Another wave could be coming behind them, but maybe it'd be a better situation than the current one. (There's nothing like seeing five DRKs seeking in a three level range...)

Thanks!
