*props eyelids open with toothpicks* Last night was the worst night (sleep-wise) in a long, long, long time. If I got three hours of sleep, I'll be amazed. My brain just would not shut off, even with the few tricks I have to make it settle down. zzzzzzz
EDIT: How would Friday evening be to go into Monastic Cavern to beat up the Warchief for a DRK test? :} (He's not that big warchief that we encountered while XPing, the one that talked to us. He's just a "plan" NM, not a HNM. Level 74-75ish.) And there will be a CTY/FI Tree (Steelshells) Skilling Party on Thursday if anyone is interested. (See my CTY post.)
Battle Plan
1) Enter BC with only weapon, opo-opo necklace, and 3 charge items equipped. (Who knows if going in "naked" really works or not, but why not try it just in case?)
2) Eat taco.
3) Sleeping potions to 100% TP. While sleeping, put all armor on other than neck, head, and belt (chargeable items).
4) Wake up. Switch opo-opo necklace for stoneskin torque.
5) Rest to full (from taco increase) while waiting for stoneskin torque to cool.
6) Use blink band, stoneskin torque, haste belt (in that order). (Add reraise object.)
7) Change those three armor pieces to real armor.
8) Engage Maat from as far away as possible. Bio II and (if time before he reaches me) poison. Who knows if they'll stick or not. (Edit: Maybe absorb-vit and then bio II instead. Hmmm.)
9) Once close enough: Guillotine.
10) Eat Wing.
11) Guillotine again. If I'm fast enough, I'll SC with myself.
At this point Maat will likely do something Bad. Either my 2 hour (Blood Weapon) or something MNK-ish. Stun and (if 2hr or something bigger than Dragon Kick) kite.
When stoneskin/blink wears (somewhere around here?), try to use the pep-whatever au lait.
12) Once he's used his 2 hour (or at this point, if needed) use my 2 hour.
12a) If my HP is safe enough, use Souleater with Blood Weapon (no HP loss or gain for me, bigger loss for him).
13) Keep swinging until one of us is dead.
Things to use when/if needed:
* Hi-pots (drink them like water, keep my HP as high as possible for when he does bad MNK things to me).
* XP scroll/69 body armor (I'll have a macro that switches my body armor once the scroll levels me).
* Vile Elixer (hopefully the hi-pots/leveling mid-battle will be good enough, but if not then use this).
Things to buy/do:
1) Mail Loth to borrow/buy charges from the stoneskin torque (she's away until the weekend).
2) Buy a vile elixer
3) Start stockpiling hi-pots instead of selling them all.
4) Buy another taco.
5) Ask to borrow Niala's PLD rings. Pick up on Monday at Eco?
6) Look into earrings. Do I want to change those out for defensive as well? Probably not, but check.
7) Edit WS macro to take the TA and /wait lines out. The error messages from that kept distracting me in the ENM battle. (Make sure correct WS is in macro!)
8) Buy I. Wing.
9) Buy peppy au lait.
Random notes:
* I think I'll wear my AF pants, because they have +hp (only +15, but that might help...) and +7 parrying.
* I might carry a juice, but I'm not going to be casting much so I'm not too worried about MP.
* If Bio/poison stick, try to watch for the effects wearing off. Missed those messages in the ENM battle.
I mostly have that memorized (and have had for weeks and weeks), but I want it on paper as well. I wonder if I'm going too defensive? The longer the battle lasts (because I'm not hitting as hard as I might be) the more danger I'll have of dying. But if I can't take hits, then I'll die for sure. If Maat hits harder than the ENM mannequin guy (which he very well might) I could be in trouble.
If you have any comments or suggestions (any at all!) please let me know.
I know nothing about tanking food. Is there a better choice than a taco, maybe?
If you're sleeping from a sleeping potion, I assume you can just click it off?
I so want to get this fight done. :/ I might try it Monday night (after Eco/Escort if I'm not tired) instead of Tuesday.

Date: 2005-11-16 04:47 pm (UTC)I went defensive as well as a lvl 69 drg and won easily. Everyone said that as a hume you have to go defensive.
Also, remember to take off your opo opo necklace... I didn't. ^^;
Goot ruck!

Oops, actually I'll have to switch it to the stoneskin torque and then wait for that to cool down so I can use it. Hopefully 30 seconds or so won't make a difference.
Thank you!

Date: 2005-11-16 08:26 pm (UTC)Anyway, since you'll be sleeping for a long time you'll want to buff up after that. The blink band effect disappears in about 2 or 3 min...

Date: 2005-11-17 01:25 am (UTC)I can also confirm that your buffs do get removed when you go in.
That annoyed me as it takes like 3 minutes for me to fully buff/rest >>;
IIRC each stack of sleeping potion gives you 300% TP.

Date: 2005-11-16 05:05 pm (UTC)Remember, you've got 15 minutes for the fight. 15 minutes is *forever* unless you're doing, like, the Bard fight (where you're singing each other to death...) Take your time, calm your nerves.
Mer's right, it's really hard the first time no matter what you do. Don't get disappointed/upset if you lose. We'll happily get you as many testimonies as it takes, so don't worry about that, y'hear? :|

Date: 2005-11-16 05:12 pm (UTC)Nope, never once and I was afraid to test it in case I needed my whole stack of sleeping potions to get to 100%! So thanks for the info! :)
15 minutes is *forever* unless you're doing
Yeah, if I hit the 15 minute time limit... well, with my -30 EVA there's no way I'd have enough hi-pots to last that long.
I'm almost, almost thinking of dinging 69, just so I can lose -10 of that EVA. If I happen to fail the first time, I won't be too upset about not being able to level mid-battle, since then I'll have my better armor on from the start.
We'll happily get you as many testimonies as it takes, so don't worry about that, y'hear? :|
Thanks so much. *snugs!* I just wish there was a less annoying place to get them from!

You know about Maat going crazy the longer you are in the fight?
Niala left a comment saying that, too. I hadn't known. Eeeeeek! Why in the world would they add something like that? Other than the whole "S-E is evil" thing...

Date: 2005-11-16 06:33 pm (UTC)Hopefully not! I'm more worried about taking the damage. Hopefully the blink/stoneskin will give me a little safe zone at the start, and I can keep my HP up from there. (In that ENM mannequin fight he was hitting me for about 130, and while I used a hi-pot after each hit, that still left my HP going down each time...)
And hey, while I have you, could I borrow your PLDing rings (something DEFly or VITly) on Monday? I can return them to you later that night or on Tuesday.
no subject
Date: 2005-11-16 06:44 pm (UTC)Certainly. Which would you prefer? Defense or VIT? (I'd recommend defense since VIT is mainly useful once you've maxed out your DEF, which I doubt will be happening on a dark knight.)

Heeheeheehee. My attack is nearly 400 and my defense is under 200. :P

Date: 2005-11-16 06:48 pm (UTC)Hmmm, I should probably add a reraise item to my list, in case I die while his HP is really low. (I wonder if he would start regaining HP while I was dead or if his HP would stay the same?)
no subject
Date: 2005-11-16 06:56 pm (UTC)From painful experience with Chipoka's Maat fights, he does indeed regain HP while out of combat.
Also, if you think you're going to die, try and make it to the outer edge of the circle so that you can raise safely. Then lay him low from afar with a x-bow bolt or Bio II or something.
That's the BLM strategy, by the way. :3
