The Starlight Celebration and stuff (FFXI)
Dec. 7th, 2005 08:10 amThe Christmas/holiday season has been announced. They have "presents galore" for us, but I'm not sure how the event sounds:
Then we thought, "Who better to find an adventurer than another adventurer?"
We'll employ your services to deliver all the greeting cards we have prepared, which can then be exchanged for a wonderful gift, kupo!
As long as the person is in the same zone as you, I suppose that'll be ... okay. Lots of shouting. Hopefully the person/people you need to find won't be in other cities or something. Sheesh. I hope the gifts are worth it.
---
Last night was profitable but uneventful. Went mining (got two plat ores and a gold ore, among other things). Since I can now mine those rocks I need, I can make pellet belts out the wazoo, too. Made five last night, will make more soon. (They sell for 15K in Jeuno, so yay.) The ores and all the moblin bits sold overnight, netting me about 300K. Now I just have to not spend that money... except I have to. :/ I need to buy my level 72 rings, plus a new scythe too. And I have to look at upgrading my GS, but I'm worried what the cost will be so I haven't even checked yet.
I'm very happy I leveled my goldsmithing: being able to process silver ore in the field is highly handy (even if I still fail more than I succeed). It's amazing how much silver ingots sell for, too. o.O
After mining I decided to do something "fun", which I ended up laughing at myself over. I've not seen/killed a NM in a while, so I decided to camp one. Just a simple one: Golden Bat in the Dunes. I killed normal bats for nearly two hours, but he never showed up. :/ While it wasn't fun, it was mostly non-stressful, which was good enough.
Tonight I suppose I'll do another mining run (bah) and then do ... something else. I need to get my scythe of trials cleared too, plus I'd like to skill my GS more...

Date: 2005-12-07 04:45 pm (UTC)I just hope there'll still be people to do it with if it starts during the week I'll be away. I completely missed Halloween this year, although it was more of a pain than previous events. Still, I kinda wished that I'd managed to at least get a Pitchfork.
I obsess about holiday events. ^^; I always like to get one of each clothing item for all of my characters, plus the HQ for Cydori. Plus, if there's a furnishing, then I try to get the "native" one for each character and all three for Cydori. The egg event drove me nuts, because I was going for three Happy Eggs, three Fortune Eggs (I wouldn't have cared so much about getting one for Rhialyn except that she actually had the eggs for it), and two of each kind of egg furnishing (except for Bastok, where I only needed one).
I'm just really happy that they created the storage for them. Everyone's MH and safe were starting to fill up.

Date: 2005-12-07 05:52 pm (UTC)-To start, talk to event mog.
-Event mog will randomly pair you up with someone else who has talked in that game day.
-You two have to find each other, exchange items, then trade items back to mog.
If that's the case, you can /tell the person. But I'm betting people will use /shout as well.
It'll be annoying if you have to find a whole list of people... which is probably how it will be. :/ And finding people who don't speak English will be a challenge, too.

Date: 2005-12-07 05:17 pm (UTC)I'd like to get GS up to the point where I can make silver ingots. When I used to mine for ore in the 30s on RDM, I'd always get silver ores, and they were useless, useless, useless ._.;

Yes. They sell for just enough that I don't want to drop them, but I hate that they take up space that could hold more expensive stuff! But ingots sell for about 5K (and stack!) so that's perfect.

Date: 2005-12-07 11:53 pm (UTC)I bet the red coat for mithra will look really, really hot. Probably short and... very lacking in material. :D
And yeah on the mining. It's amazing that people mine without smithing (and to a lesser extent GS) skilled.

Date: 2005-12-08 05:18 am (UTC)If the Mithra coat is like that I'll be forced to wear a subligar instead of the Aikido pants I'm wearing now. Not sure what I'd wear on the foot slot, maybe RSE unless I can find some suitable boots. It's so hard to be seasonally stylish in FFXI D: Though MNKs do have it easy during Halloween with the orange and black ~.~
