One down, one to go (RL then FFXI)

thistlechaserSince it's now over and so no one will have to do anything silly for me, I can now say that yesterday was my birthday. Unfortunately it was one of the most depressing ones I've ever had. :P
Work is sucking more than a sucky sucking suck-suck machine, bad enough that the stress and annoyance is following me home. Usually I make sure to go out to dinner/movie/shopping/whatever on my birthday, but I just couldn't deal with leaving home last night. ("No, no! Not more people! They'll want something! They'll demand stuff! They'll tell me about their damned technical problems and want me to fix them! Go away!")
So I went home and cooked dinner (and burnt it, sigh), then sat around online. I still had no idea if the A-E-D-Ni-Chip static wanted/needed me or not, so I went to the Safehold and sat there. Since I didn't know the start time, I kept sitting there. (But hey, they're all east coast/central time zone, so it couldn't have been too late, right?) Two and a half hours later, the party formed. :P Then Tsen didn't show up, so the party broke and people went to take naps. (Naps: The most popular FI event!)
Since I still need more sheep leather, I decided to go farm. Then I decided that was the stupidest idea ever (I can buy sheepskins for ~300 at the guild or I can spend an hour+ running around trying to find enough sheep to make a stack of leather. My time is worth more than that!)
So then I had nothing to do and was again bored out of my skull. I fell back on the last thing I do before I get bored enough to go play WoW or cards or something non-FFXI: I leveled my NPC. Or rather, we went out and XPed but he didn't level. The slacker is still only 35, which is annoying.
Once he vanished I still had more night left to fill (sigh) so I did the fellowship quest with the food. &$*#@&$ I spent more on the food needed than I had for my GS! Grrrrr. Then, since I was throwing money at worthless Gunnar, I upgraded/changed his weapon as well (went from the first H2H weapon to the second great katana). Maybe now he'll be slightly less useless.
Good points of the night: Killing Bloody Coffin with/for Des. At about 10 minutes in he and the crab were both at half life, and then I arrived and killed it in three swings. :D Rarrr!
I bought nearly everything left that I need for DRK. Got my last GS (40K) and my two rings (700K). I would have got my last scythe, but none were for sale. Of course now I'm poor again, but it's okay since I have nothing left that I have to buy.
