So tired. Went to bed late last night and got woke up early this morning by a phone call. Zzzz.

So I went RDM XPing last night, and ended up laughing at myself. "This isn't anything like in the movies!" Ha ha ha.

There was no one seeking all night (I was the only one seeking from 44-48 for over an hour), so when I got an invite from a rank 10 DRG I didn't bother asking if he had a tank/healer/other members. Amazingly he did have a tank (NIN) and very very slowly the party rounded out -- basically he grabbed anything seeking, no matter job or level. Not a good start.

We went to my least favorite zone in the game: GC. I'd rather XP in the Dunes than GC, but it was to be a moot point since the party was a Dunes party, so I got the "best" of both worlds.

BLM 49 (four levels higher than me, yay gimped XP) asked the MNK to use an axe (Let me repeat that: He wanted the monk to use an axe) because when the party finally found a SC, it was one that he couldn't do his best MB on. When I boggled on /party at that suggestion, the BLM 49 asked "Well, what does a MNK use?" (Or rather "lol wut mnk uz lol".) And need I say that the BLM over-nuked? NIN 46 tank, BLM 49 over-nuking. Messy hate? Ha.

We had a second RDM (I was RDM/BLM, the other was RDM/WHM) so you'd think the RDM/WHM would heal, right? Not to mention that he was Taru and had more than twice as much MP as me? Nope. He didn't heal, so I did it. Since I was he wasn't healing, one would think he would enfeeble. Nope. Since he wasn't doing those two things, maybe he would refresh the BLM? Nope. Well! Since he wasn't doing any of that, perhaps he'd dispel the beetles? Or melee? Nope. The only thing he did last night was keep stoneskin, phalanx, and refresh on himself. He had 100% MP nearly the whole night, while I was almost always drained. (On the plus side, since I was healing I tried to let the BLM die. But alas, he never dropped lower than double digit HP before the tank got the mob off him.)

So about 2 hours of partying got me 3K XP (with band). The rank 10 DRG refused to pull (yet the only other DD was a MNK...), so the MNK somehow pulled. Our second tank (a JP NIN, the first NIN (wisely) bailed after three fights) rocked, but he was 4 levels under the over-nuking BLM so there wasn't much hope for him keeping hate.

After I left the party I did the quest for the cunning earring. (And I repeat what I say every time I have to go there: Whoever designed Ordelle Caves should be shot. It's one thing to have a confusing/maze zone, that's fine, but to not be able to climb the stairs? To throw yourself at them over and over trying to find exactly the right angle to allow you to get to the next step? Inexcusable.) I had to stay online late, but I finished the darned quest.

So tired. Zzzzz.

I leveled my first 3 - 5 jobs I think in Garlaige. In fact on at least on or two jobs I don't think I ever even partied in Crawlers nest. I think GC is one of the best zones in the game to get xp at personally. If you have Piercing type weapons (Rangers, thiefs, dragoons), those bats make really fast xp. I think your bad experience is due to the party make up than the place personally :)

And what do you mean Monks dont use axes???? >.>

Dude! Real monks use great swords! What rock have you been living under?

Ah, we're totally opposite then. I've only partied in Garlaige three times now, and one of them was a total party wipe on the second fight (party disbanded after). I've never had good experiences there, I hate the holes, I hate XPing on bats, and it just seems like I've run into the worst quality people there.

I was hoping never to have to go back there, but then I realized that my BLM is going to have to be leveled through these levels, too. Bah! Well, maybe I'll grow to like it. One day. :P

The path that I took when the game was released for NAs (I did a different path in beta), was alot of bats for whatever reason..

Did:
Maze of shakrami (worms, BATs, goblins)
Bubu Peninsula (rabbits, goblins, bird, dhalmels)
Battalia (goblins then tigers, then tougher orcs)
Qufim (we would tp up on giants and weapons, then chain on acrophies of all things)
Sauromaugue (weapons along the wall there)
Garliage (BATS, beetles)
Behemoths Dominion (bats)
Crawlers Nest (nest beetles)
Davoi (orcs)

I dont remember what we did after that. I remember at 45 we started xping on Liches in Eldieme. Took our xp party about 2 weeks to get the 6 papers we needed. In the time we got 6 papers, we leveled from 45 to about 47 or 48. We then xp'd on Exorays for the molds and went on from there. :)

Looking back, some of these places stunk, but we didnt know much about the expansion areas and so went places we knew. (I never went to Kazham in beta )

Looking back, some of these places stunk,

Maybe, but that looks like a pretty fun path now. Some of the spots would be hard (I tried Battalia, but farmers kept killing all our XP mobs), but it'd rock to be able to XP in different places.

If I had a static party instead of dealing with random idiots, I'd take them to more off-the-beaten-path places. I'd like to try the bunnies and tigers at the U-whatever Range zoneline, and I've tried Carpenter Landing off North Sandy (great location!). Unfortunately random parties tend to like to go to the established places. :/

There weren't really farmers in Battalia then. Pretty much everyone seemed to xp on tigers. You would have to find one of the safe bunkers to camp in, but sometimes there would be xp parties in all of them, so people would crowd each other and have 2 parties in one bunker. That made xp slow and people cranky when that happened. All the tiger farmers came later on I suppose

The last time I went XPing in Batallia (with RNG, so it was a while ago) I got to meet Jingboy, Rengirl, and Langboy. They attempted to MPK us 'cause we kept XPing on their farming mobs :x (Even after we changed bunkers they followed us.) We may have been their first GM calls :o

After that we continued along and did Weapons. We wanted to do the Weapons in Sauro, but A-Fbinfen were XPing on the beetles in that area and kept stealing the Weapons from me when I pulled them. We may have been their first GM calls too :o

Ended up doing Weapons in Rolanberry, yay for zones around Jeuno :3

Whatever happened to the simpler days when monks used to use only Gregorian chants(and offhand some prayer beads)? Remember back then?

Perhaps you're thinking of BRDs? :P

No, I'm certain they were monks. Bards just wear silly hats and write poetry. ^_-
