I didn't get to see Lost (or American Idol) tonight, but I have them recorded to watch at a later date. ; ;
FFXI started out so bad it was funny, but in the end it rocked!
Got a party invite (had to wait a whole 30 minutes for it! What's this world coming to?), and yay! It wasn't from a DRG! ...but then I got to CN and found I was replacing the guy and the leader was not only a DRG but the DRG who put together the three worst parties in the last couple weeks.
And tonight that count rose to four.
I arrived on the scene only to find the THF (Cloudxi) telling the PLD what to do. Not only that, calling him a "homo faggot" or "gay faggot" or some such thing. Grrrr. I almost left right then and there, but instead told them all to shut up, act like adults, and XP.
Party decided to move from CN to crabs. No WHM to tele-altep us, so I figured we'd all warp out and meet up there or in Jeuno. I warped. Two of the melees had no warp object or oil/powder. Damned idiots. So they make the poor WHM come to CN and go all the way to camp. She died on the way. Yay Woman went and changed jobs and raised her and tele-altep'ed them.
While they were all in Rabao, I told them on /p to damned well buy some oil from the AH. I told them that crabs aggro to sound and they should be able to sneak themselves if needed.
Guess who didn't do that? Cloudxi. So the WHM went back to get him, and died. Again. More mess happens around Cloudxi (because he's that much of an idiot) and the WHM died trying to stealth him again.
Cloudxi, still being an idiot, got stuck somewhere. So the WHM ignored us and went to rescue him again. And guess what! She died again! I couldn't even feel bad for her, she deserved it for trying to rescue the idiot.
Two hours pass from the time I warped out of CN. Two hours of trying to get Cloudxi to the camp. Two hours of the WHM reraising and dying in the next breath.
Eventually theidiot DRG* leader booted Cloudxi (after the PLD, Woman, and I threatened to disband and form our own party), and we replaced him with a RNG. The XP rocked, but by then the damage had been done:
Total XP earned: 9K.
Total time spent in party: 5 hours.
Less than 2K/hour (with band). Again. Grrr/sigh.
Cloudxi became the first non-casino person to be put on my newly cleaned blacklist.
* To be fair, the DRG seems like a nice guy. Totally unable or unwilling to put a workable party together, but he does seem to try.

Date: 2006-01-26 03:29 pm (UTC)Our experience turned out kinda meh. Last week we were at the Terrigan zoned camp (which is where you guys ended up, right?) but this week we were at the Altepa zone. We had a few pulling problems at first (one Tovari death, and one where he escaped) but after that things were fine, and the xp went very very smoothly...
...until another party came in and camped right on top of us. -_-; Suddenly, we had half the amount of mobs we did before. And they were *right* on top of us, too.
After a bit of this, we did some scouting and found out that the inner camp was open, so we decided to move in there.
All was fine until our BLM's sneak started to wear in the middle of a bunch of crabs, so he recast. Unfortunately, he was a bit too close to an elemental. One dead (and deleveled) BLM.
Z started tractoring him to a safer spot, but guess who showed up right then? Yep, Guivre. So, now one dead BLM and one dead WHM.
Guivre eventually stops camping Z's corpse, but there are still a ton of crabs around. So our BRD and PLD go in to train the crabs away so Z can reraise. They pull them out, Z reraises... and immediately dies again because another crab pops just as the train goes through. Luckily, nobody else dies in the process. So, still one dead BLM and one dead (and now deleveled) WHM, who eventually give up and HP to Jeuno, then tele-Altep and come back out.
Meanwhile, that party that camped on top of us has moved into our old spot, and we don't feel like trying to go into the depths of Kuftal again. (I'm exhausted and Z's not feeling well either.) So when everyone gets back, we just camp on top of the other party. (Two wrongs don't make a right, but when all we want to do is get everyone 54 back and get out of there, I can't really bring myself to care that much.)
So what started as a pretty good night ended up really blah. At least we all got 54 and kept it and got to put on new AF. I think next week we're going to try bats in KRT or someplace else a little less crowded than Kuftal.
Good luck with your parties. I hope they pick up. ^^

Date: 2006-01-26 04:30 pm (UTC)Yep! That's actually my favorite camp. Lots of mobs close to pull from (we had three! parties there last night, and still pulled nearly nonstop), and a nice save zoneline close behind us.
...until another party came in and camped right on top of us. -_-; Suddenly, we had half the amount of mobs we did before. And they were *right* on top of us, too.
Unfortunately the dragon was up last night, which means the entire zone was reduced to two camps: Where you were and where we were. But it was funny running through the main room! Bodies were everywhere!
After a bit of this, we did some scouting and found out that the inner camp was open, so we decided to move in there.
Oh, I'm glad you didn't get eaten! Or maybe people killed him by then...

Oops. (Heehee, can you tell I'm reading your comment for the first time as I'm replying to it?)

Ack. :(
Yay 54 and thanks for the good luck wishes!

We tried there as a 50-52 party and they were way too hard. I bet they'd be perfect around 54.

Date: 2006-01-26 06:00 pm (UTC)I only saw Guivre from a distance last night, but it was enough for the following reaction to ensue:
(Cydori) O_O OMG. We're not going in *there*, are we?
(Zoofster) What, you've never seen a dragon before?
(Cydori) Of course I've seen dragons. I slay dragons. I just don't want to get involved with that one right now.

Date: 2006-01-26 09:12 pm (UTC)Agreed. Being a DRG doesn't make anyone bad at forming parties, but the vast majority of my bad parties in the past month or so have been made by DRGs.
continually referring to him as "the idiotDRG" doesn't really help, what I would call, a unfounded stigma...
In this case, it's not unfounded. He personally is responsible for four of the worst parties I've had in the last month. And four other DRGs have been responsible for the rest. It's gotten to the point where I roll my eyes and groan if I end up in a party with a DRG-leader.

/p {Run away!}
Ha ha ha, kidding. I'd accept an invite from a LS DRG anytime~!
