Luckily I have lots of gamers on my flist, probably more gamers than any other group. "Luckily" because I have a question!

I've bought very, very few games in my life, and time has never really been a big issue. For once it is. I want to get a game (expansion pack) as early as possible. What's the fastest way to get a game? Call around to various gaming shops on the day it's shipped and see who gets it first? Or is there one gaming chain that tends to get it earlier than others?

There's no way to order things directly from, um, somewhere, right? So I couldn't overnight it from an importing company or something?

The shipping date is the 18th of April, but I guess that's the date it's shipping from Japan. :/

Edit: Rarrr. Ordered from EBGames, "next day air" (overnighting, I guess? That was the fastest option).

Ha ha ha, really! It's a mystery~!

I always order from EBGames. They're usually pretty fast on getting stuff to you, and they occasionally make mistakes on the shipping and you get stuff faster than you're supposed to. I remember ordering Devil May Cry 2 on 1 week shipping and got it overnight.

Okay, EBGames seems to be the most suggested one, so I'll grab it from them. Thanks!

You could always have someone ship overnight, but that risks some accident or something resulting it a day late, which effectively kills your chance of getting it on time. Overnight shipping from some online stores hurts, too; nearly twice the amount you pay for your game itself, and I'm not kidding :o ... BUT! You don't have to go outside. Online shopping is the way to go for me, even if I have to pay shipping :|

Jehryn's right though, EBGames has never really failed me either when it comes to preorders. I got CoP from them via preorder and the process of getting it was perfectly smooth the day it came out.

I think I'm gonna end up preordering this... mystery game... which makes me sad 'cos I wasn't intending to buy it! Probably gonna get it shipped from EBGames.

Okay, that's what I'll do as well.

And dude, you know you want it. Arrr! COR ftw! :D

Oh gosh, I wonder what it could be... o/~

I have mine preordered at a GameStop in my local shopping mall, which is on my way home from work. Games usually show up in stores the day after their ship date, so I'll hopefully be able to pick it up on the 19th.

Also, it's probably not shipping from Japan on the 18th. I don't know where the discs are actually manufactured, but if stores are supposed to get them on the 18th/19th, then the discs have been printed already and will likely be on their way to warehouses before then.

Do you actually *want* an import copy? I don't think that would work with a US version of the existing game. Or is yours an import?

Oh duh, I guess it makes sense that they wouldn't make them in Japan and then send them here.

*waggles* It's silly to be in such a rush, in a couple months what difference will one day either way make? But still! Want it now! :P

That's the mindset which makes DS Lites over $300 at the moment, when the MSRP is ~$160! SHAME.

But... but... but... I want it now!

I'd pay double the price for the expansion if I could get it a day early. ;)

The more I hear about things, the more excited I get! Did you see the link Zub posted on the FFXI LJ community? Everything sounds so *cool*!

Plus, this time I'll actually have a decently-levelled job and friends to do things with! When CoP came out I was WAR25 and in LS limbo - most of the people with whom I had started playing the game had left. But yay, now I'll have people to go exploring and do job quests and all kinds of other stuff with, and I can run around in full AF and pull my own weight. ^_~

I know how you feel, on all counts! I'm bouncing around in my chair at work, just thinking about all the new stuff. It's so cliche, but I feel like a kid at Christmas! Or waiting for Christmas to arrive. :P

I'm with Cyd, I have all my must have games preordered online, then I can pick them up the day of release at the local Gamestop. :3 Faster and cheaper for me than paying for shipping on top of it.

I don't mind paying for shipping, since it will keep me from having to drive out of my way... I just hope I won't have to wait longer! Eek!

teehee. By that time the weather will be nice and I won't mind a small drive to get the next expansion :)

That being said, I've never EVER had a problem finding games/expansions when they were release. Though a couple of times i've had to try more than 2 locations.

95% of the time, my first store has it.

Since I don't have a car, I usually preorder from EBGames and have them ship to me with the *second-fastest* shipping option (I'm weird like that and I can wait one day... well, maybe >.>a). Though this time I might just borrow (or steal) my roomie's car and drive down to get it. xD

I know. I really hope it gets here on time/fast, otherwise I'll go and drive and get a copy and end up with two. :P

So impatient!
