Pretty good weekend, even though it ended on an annoying note.

I spent most of my time BLUing. No, wait, that's not right. I spent most of my time doing nothing at all, but when I did something, it was BLUing. On Saturday we had our NIN/SAM static, but that only lasted a short two and a half hours. (Hit 37 and ate my Ni scroll! Yay!) After that I did a grand total of: Zero! Sat around and chatted on the LS, but didn't do much of anything at all. Did some "defensive crafting" (Gah! Too many crystals!) and got cooking from 52 to 55, and that was it for the whole day. But still, was a nice day!

On Sunday I dragged myself off to BLU in the morning. XPed mostly on EPs, so my XP/hr number was low, but dinged, um, 28 I guess? Then we did NPC static (which lasts a shorter and shorter time each week, we're all distracted with other stuff now). After that (since my dedication was still on) went out to solo BLU a little more.

One of the great fun things about soloing is that you can go wherever you like. Draque had read somewhere about BLUs XPing in the Promys, so I went to try that out! Very interesting and different experience. :) Spent a couple hours in there (until dedication wore) and got halfway to 29.

Despite that FFXI is a MMORPG, there is very little RPing in the game. This weekend that changed, and oh my god is it nice! I've not RPed in two years, and even doing it on-game with its sucky short lines, it was so much fun!



I couldn't sleep last night, so I thought about IC Thistle a lot. I realized that he's so totally unlike the usual character I play.

1) He's nice. Nice! I can't remember the last time I played a nice character! Okay, yeah, he hits on anything that moves, but that's in a harmless sort of way. I see it like a housecat: An indoor-only kitty spots a mouse. Oh look! It's moving! Yay! It pounces and by some lucky chance catches the mouse, then has absolutely no clue what to do with it.

2) He thinks the best of everyone. This part had me boggling for a while, I don't think I've ever played a character like this, ever. He was screwed over in a major by someone he loved, but he thinks that was a fluke and no one else would ever do that sort of thing. He thinks that most people are basically good, and that everyone should be helped, etc. (Oh my god, he's like the anti-RL me~!)

3) He's, um, really rather dumb. I have played dumb characters in the distant past, but in recent years my characters are generally at least average. Sometimes they make poor decisions or dig themselves into holes, but they're not stupid.

4) He's seriously clueless sexually. Even if my characters start out with no knowledge of sexual foo, they generally learn pretty quickly (*cough*). IC Thistle has had a grand total of two sexual experiences (one of them being the relationship mentioned in point #2, the other one being little better, in my RL opinion), and that's unlikely to change anytime soon.

5) He's bouncy! And perky! And happy! And friendly! And he snugs and loves anyone (and you're next!). I was comparing him to my PokeMUSH characters, and man. This is the sort of character I hated in the past, and now I'm playing it and liking it. Heh.

I couldn't help but work out his character and personality long ago, even though the on-LS RP isn't hardly RP enough to be called "RP", so it's especially fun to have an outlet for it now. :)



The annoying note was dealing with a LS idiot. I ended up having to blist him, but it was my own fault because I should have blisted him long ago. Mocking the DRK job (endlessly! Even when I asked him three times to stop!) was the last straw. I swear to god, I am so sick of that. Name me another job in FFXI that gets shit tossed at it on such a regular basis. That has strangers come up to you and say "loldrk"? That when you miss ONCE in a fucking random party they all "loldrk" at you? I don't need to take that on LS, too.

As much as I totally understand your frustration, and don't blame you for it.. Drg gets just as much shit, if not more. :) Drg and Drk are the two classes that get most of the idiots sadly.

I do think you went too far by blisting, but if he'd been endlessly slamming my jobs I'd likely have done it too. The player is another of those I boggle at.

Well, that player has had a bad habit of putting his foot into his mouth up to his knee and repeatedly offending LS people. I almost BListed him for his search comment stunt where he put 'only gays and rapists blind invite'. Frankly, I should have. ~_~

I'm not going to start a flame war, but I know Nif spoke with both you and him. I won't be pleased if you go out of your way to fight with him or any other person. I told you this yesterday and I'll repeat it (just as you told him repeatedly to stop it and he didn't, hmm...): drop it. Stop fighting. Stop acting half your age over something that's childish. Yours isn't the only job that's picked on. He picked on the job (not you, the job which he has also played as a main) like a child and you took the bait and overreacted. There are times to prove yourself the better person by shining it on and ignoring him, and this is one of those times. Do not go out of your way to pick fights! This "but Bobby pulled my hair first" bs is beneath you. Get over it. Leave him on your /blist, that's fine. Don't make snide comments in /l or any other forum, egging him on.

However, while I agree the fighting shouldn't continue over it, your baiting Thistle by comparing him to the person in question's behavior and insulting him is a bit much, I think. That's no way to tell anyone to behave better. That's like telling someone to 'stop fucking swearing, damnit'. Doesn't work all that well. ^^;

Something like "90% of how much I've seen DRKs suck comes from being around Thistle". Yep. That was thrilling.

I just don't get him, what's wrong with him? It's like he burns his bridges behind him on purpose... (What in the world did he think he was going to accomplish with that "gay" search comment?)

This has come up before and I'll repeat it again: You can tell me what to do on the LS. That is your right. However you cannot tell me what to do or how to act in my LJ. If I want to post "OH MY GOD, FAIT IS A BIG POOPOO HEAD!" in size 100 blinking red font, that is my right.

I will say nothing to or about him on LS. You and Nif have asked that, and as it's your LS I will honor that request. You do not get to tell me how to act outside of the game.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell anyone who disagrees with what I post: If you don't want to read what I have to say, defriend me. I have the right to post whatever I want in my LJ, you have the right to read it or not. That is as far as it goes.

Thing is, Thistle shouldn't be innocent. He kills things on a regular basis, there was a war when he was a child and he lost his father in it, his mother took him to live in Sandy (where elves hate humes and are vocal in their looking down of them), his best friend/first lover/closest person in the world screwed him over big time. Heck, not to mention, he's a Dark Knight, they give away parts of their own souls to hurt others... He shouldn't be innocent anymore, yet he is. It's so odd...
