MUSH: Old game I used to run is starting back up, and I'll be rejoining as the code wiz. (After not having touched MUSH code in years, heehee.) It's so odd (and cool) to see all the old code and tricks and everything I had made. I kept going 'Wow, this is so cool!' then a second later 'Wait, I made this?'. Heh. I can really see how I felt so... tied into the whole game: like a spider sitting in the middle of a web, I can track anything that happens on the game from one room. So cool! Right now it's a whole lot to take in, but once I'm comfortable again I'm sure I'll be able to process all that input without thinking about it.

FFXI: Productive but unexciting night. SAM 7 to 9, which meant I could use my level 8 great katana. My very very underleveled great katana. Once I hit 9, I took [livejournal.com profile] desant_chan's idea and got a SAM/NIN great katana to skill with. Went from GK 5 to 66 all in one night. o.O Many many hours of skilling. But I actually enjoy skilling, so it was a fine night. Plus I got some XP for NIN by tackling a few EPs.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to need to craft again. Somehow my crystal mule got full AGAIN (even though I moved every single non-crystal off her, which means she has more room for crystals than she did a few days ago). I have no idea what I'm going to make... Not bolts, not shihei.

I also want to go camping a few NMs for fun. I've not killed any in a while.

Only annoying thing is that I've not caught a Besieged in almost a week now. >< I missed the one last night, and another one moved right as I had to walk out of my apartment for required RL stuff, and another one will hit overnight tonight. I don't need the IS and I can't get XP from it, but I like attending! They're the most fun I have on the game! I'm passing 'annoyed' and heading towards, well, 'very annoyed' that I can't catch one.

Hm, not that he'll see it here, but this weekend I also want to poke Boose about going out and learning BLU moves. If I can't learn them myself, the next best thing is helping someone else learn! (How odd am I? I dislike XPing, but enjoy skilling. I don't want to XP BLU, but I want to be able to learn the moves!)

Sleepy now. zzzzzz

Edit: Ha ha, I keep getting spam addressed to Crafty Peaches. Isn't that a cool name? I'm sneaky and fruity-- Wait a minute...

I've been waxing nostalgic about the old Pokeyman myself, lately. Logs (and butter) are good for that.

It's almost funny how many of us miss that place. You always take for granted what you have until you don't have it any longer...

*snickers* Butter. It's so bad, I sometimes find myself quoting Wizardmon in non-PokeMUSH-circle situations. Not a very good idea!

Every time I read those words (PokeMUSH? Starting back up?), I get all twitchy and nervous and excited. My first MU* experience was on PokeMUSH, and I was such a horrible RPer that a second chance? I'm going to bang my head against the monitor when I leap for the opportunity to redeem myself. It's also going to take an incredible amount of willpower for me to avoid commenting on every single journal post on my flist that mentions it.

I will love you forever and ever, with all of my heart, if you keep us updated on the revival of the game. I am literally quivering with anticipation.

Dear lord, am I a dweeb.

If you're a dweeb, what does it make me, that I spent hours over the past week with some people simply talking about what our staff alts names and species would be? :)

Probably fairly normal. For many, naming is the most difficult part of character creation, even if it is for something OOC. It's so trivial, and yet so, so important!~

Having responded, I now shall go bake in a corner, for Maine does not believe in those silly 'air conditioning' machines.

*snickers* I don't know if being considered normal by someone who already called him/herself dorky is really that much of a compliment. ;)

Who were you on PokeMUSH anyway?

Date: 2006-07-08 08:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] socksofjello.livejournal.com
Well, I suppose normal is relative.

I was a twit Tory. I wasn't a very prolific RPer, but I was probably pretty well-known for the stupidity on Public.

As far as twits go, you weren't too bad as far as I'm aware. All I can remember of you is that your name is faintly familiar. The major twits I tend to remember. Then, I don't know if you joined before or after I left staff. Whatever the case, I personally have no knowledge of you being a twit. :)

Well, that's good! I think I get too worked up about that, since the logs and memories I have don't do much to display my, uh, wondrous RPing talents. Yes.

Which staff member were you? I think I knew at one point, but Thistle-Chaser has since stopped referring to you by your P:PE names, so I'm a little lost.

I was Gale the ever-hungry Gyarados.

Oh! I remember! I think you were the staff that controlled the first puppet I ever encountered. Unless that was Delee. My memory isn't that good.

From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Gale is much more likely than Delee. Delee wasn't very active and didn't run too many puppets (that I recall?). Delee was nice though. :) And man, could she draw!

If it helps, I don't remember you at all, and I remember at least some of the really bad folks. :)

I will love you forever and ever, with all of my heart, if you keep us updated on the revival of the game. I am literally quivering with anticipation.

If you haven't already, you might want to friend Gale's LJ. I suspect she might write more about it than me? But then, I post more than god, so who knows! :P

As I reply several days later. Ha ha, I'm on top of things!

I was curious, though, if I could have your permission to take a look at the top secret insides of +attempt. I've been dying to see how that works for the longest time, and all my old attempts to try and mentally reverse engineer it ended in horrible headaches. (As I'm sure doing maintanace on it probably was as well. ;) )

If you'd be willing to let me look, I log in occasionally as 'Crossbite', the Raticate Staffer.

Heh! Nice name!

And sure thing. Feel free to look at any code you like, just don't make changes without talking to me first? :) I sent you @mail with the DB# to look at it.

The first part of the code handles the unique attacks. Roar, Rest, etc. Everything after the Mimic attack handles the stuff that's not unique.

"Headache" hardly describes it. That's the biggest coding project I've ever done. I think it won't need to be changed to handle the new theme foo. I think we can just change the number of type/type combos elsewhere... I think. What are the new types we don't have? Steel and Dark? Were there more? And some new combos I think...

Date: 2006-07-10 05:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] daltontrix.livejournal.com
Steel and Dark were the only totally new ones, then there were a mess of new dual types, most of which I can't remember off the top of my head. Have to go look up a pokedex.

I do know that Magnetites/Magnetons became Steel/Electric though, and I think Voltorbs/Electrodes did too. Which makes them a lot more annoying.

If I can remember correctly, I think I planned for possible changes/additions (since we had new original and Habari pokemon). I think there's a text item object somewhere with ... oh hell, let me just look instead of sitting here guessing. *checks* Holy cow, so complex. But yeah, looks like we can add/edit that stuff without touching the code. I think.

I think.

I think!

Wow, I can't believe I made all this. I must have been insane.
