Singing Unseen to learn scrolls about undead (FFXI)

Started the day with BRD XPing. 31-33. Everything went smoothly (5 LS people, 1 random). I enjoy XPing with friends, but I still feel like dead weight in the group. Sing a couple songs, then backup heal (which, with two NINs, is rarely needed). I did learn the dispel song today though, so at least that will be useful! (I keep telling myself that people fight to get BRDs into their parties for a reason, but I'm used to my contribution to a party being big damage numbers. BRD is the opposite of that!)

After that ran off to Castle Oz to help Dani hunt for a scroll. Ran into Coo Keja the Unseen again, and killed him. (No drops, but I got his necklace last time, so.) Unfortunately the scroll she wanted didn't drop, but I got two BRD ones. :P

Then came learning BLU moves for Boose! Some moves are just hard to get alone, so I helped him out with those. Unfortunately he had the worst luck! (Bad moon? Bad day? I wonder if those things affect learning at all.) Spent five and a half hours and he got only five moves. (Almost no travel time in that, too.)

And lastly came a Besieged! Undead, yay! Got a bunch of axe skillups (4 levels?). Got full reward. No mass disconnects even though it was undead and nearly 700 people in the zone.

Oops, almost forgot the other screenshot. Is it brave or stupid to be punching a bug this big?

Bedtime now, even later than last night. >< Need to get out of this habit!

Oh yeah, I feel soooooo useful....

Thing is, without any of us it wouldn't be that easy. At least I don't think so. Without Nai's great tanking, without me to catch when she needs recast time, without you with all the spells (God, just accuracy and the mp alone..), without Dani's cures/erase, and without those DDs to hurt things..
It's boring because we all know how to, and can do our jobs. Not that you aren't contributing. :)

Dead weight? BRD is never dead weight in a party... unless you have two in the same one (NIN/BRD/BRD/WAR/WHM/MNK - how that party actually worked was beyond me). Then again, maybe it's just because I spend the majority of my time as a Refresh battery.

I think it's habitual for me to go to sleep at 4~5AM now. It makes me a very grouchy person at work :|

Nope, we're NIN, NIN, WHM, BRD, then we pick up two random DDs (though on Saturday we had a LS WAR, so just one random).

I'm really, really trying to avoid that. Work is bad enough, I don't need to add a lack of sleep on top of the usual suckiness! :/

I always used to think of myself as dead weight...I bought the game because it had a brd class, and thought that when I switched to brd, I was getting better exp because I was a better player ( for the first 30 levels as whm, there was always a n00b in the party...me ), until I started levelling other jobs and noticing that even @ dunes levels, the exp was always better in a party if there was a bard.

You don't -feel- like you're making a huge difference as a brd, but believe me, as a former bard main, you bloody well are.

Aww, thanks for the info! Maybe because I almost never XPed with a BRD I haven't experienced the difference myself, thus it feels like nothing. (DRK 1-75 I think I partied with a BRD a grand total of two times!)
