Bone Patas
Made from Recipe:
* Main Skill: Bonecraft (68 - Craftsman)
o Crystal: Fire
o Ingredients: Crab Shell, Giant Femur x2, Carbon Fiber
o Result: Bone Patas
o HQ #1: Bone Patas +1
We both have bonecrafting 60, and personally I don't care if I get a few (or 8) extra levels in it. (I'm pretty sure I took the test, even though I didn't need to.) The Bone Patas shouldn't be too expensive to make (carbon fiber can be made for about 2K), though might be slow because I don't think crab shells are too common on the AH?
Hydro Patas apparently don't sell well at the AH, but vendor for nearly 4K. Yes, a loss, but not too big of one and I don't think my heart would survive skilling on gold ingots. (Gold ring is the alternative to this, which requires two ingots.) "Ack, an ingot lost!" *falls over dead*
If you make your own mythril sheets, glue, and the bone patas, this shouldn't be too too too painful, I'd think.
Oh, and Somepage reports that you can desynth the hydro patas for skill, but I never have much luck desynthing for skill. I might just vendor mine.
Hope this helps!

Date: 2006-09-14 12:11 am (UTC)I had thought about hydro claws or mythril cuisses. I definitely have an easy supply of giant femurs (I often NPC them to get rid of excess). But I had some trouble getting the bone patas synthed. All my crafts are capped at 60 since my cloth is in the 90-100. It won't skillup but it just makes it a bit more time consuming and frustrating to have to try the same synth a few times to get it to work.
The bone batas just make me think of the words "inconvenient and tedious" for the reasons above =P
The hydro claws at least I can buy from vendor (expensive though, 12k from vendor) if I don't feel like making my own, but given the price they end up being about the same as mythril cuisses...
Given all that, making gold rings and platinum ingots 9 levels early doesn't sound so bad o.O (basically no loss except from failed synths)
I don't know, I still feel the burn from this level of goldsmithing, I guess it's just 5 more levels and I am done at least...
Thanks for helping me think about this though, and good luck with your own goldsmithing skillup! Gold ingots were very nice to me, if you are within a 3-4 levels and are careful with time, moon, support, direction, you barely ever fail, and stacking them is so nice.
Btw, if you do a lot of gold fire crystal synths, you could put all those red jars you might have been throwing away, they are good both for storage and mogenhancement support to avoid losing materials on fire crystal synths. The game is designed with a lot of connections like that, where digging helps you get extra storage and synth ores into ingots, etc.

I was thinking about that, but I'm not sure I can pack in enough of them to overpower my 8 mannequins and a couple of commodes. Between those things and 8 plant pots, I have almost no floorspace left!

Date: 2006-09-16 03:54 am (UTC)The other option is mythril cuisses, as I recall, and they're just for NPCing as well. It's rough, but for those continuing, platinum nuggets/ore -> ingots is profitable. ^^

Nope! Stopping at 60. :)
