genomeffxi had asked me about my plans for the end of goldsmithing skilling. This looks like my likely item.

Hydro Patas
Made from Recipe:

* Main Skill: Goldsmithing (67 - Craftsman)
o Crystal: Fire
o Ingredients: Mythril Sheet, Animal Glue, Bone Patas
o Result: Hydro Patas
o HQ #1: Hydro Patas +1

Bone Patas
Made from Recipe:

* Main Skill: Bonecraft (68 - Craftsman)
o Crystal: Fire
o Ingredients: Crab Shell, Giant Femur x2, Carbon Fiber
o Result: Bone Patas
o HQ #1: Bone Patas +1

We both have bonecrafting 60, and personally I don't care if I get a few (or 8) extra levels in it. (I'm pretty sure I took the test, even though I didn't need to.) The Bone Patas shouldn't be too expensive to make (carbon fiber can be made for about 2K), though might be slow because I don't think crab shells are too common on the AH?

Hydro Patas apparently don't sell well at the AH, but vendor for nearly 4K. Yes, a loss, but not too big of one and I don't think my heart would survive skilling on gold ingots. (Gold ring is the alternative to this, which requires two ingots.) "Ack, an ingot lost!" *falls over dead*

If you make your own mythril sheets, glue, and the bone patas, this shouldn't be too too too painful, I'd think.

Oh, and Somepage reports that you can desynth the hydro patas for skill, but I never have much luck desynthing for skill. I might just vendor mine.
