I think my stupid chocobo has been reading my LJ. Apparently he found out that I think he sucks.

Is this not the saddest thing ever? :( Stupid NPC elf dude is there taking care of him, caring for him, instead of me.

And if my darned chocobo wasn't depressing enough, check this out: Your chocobo dug for hours and hours, but found nothing. Look at the poor birdy's pose!

Day #3 of not finding the key item to be able to ride him. >< I gave him two cupid worms, but that didn't even bring him up to 'parent' level, so I gave him a green as well and that finally did it. Even after that, no key item (only enough energy for a short and medium walk).

Stupid bird, I'd kick you if you weren't already so sad.

Digging was horribly sucky. 1 gold beastcoin and I was chased out of the zone multiple times (too many other diggers).

Spent about 574751075410 hours farming tigers for hides. Between those and the materials I bought, got .4 of leather skillup! Not nearly as exciting as progress in the other crafts, but what can you expect at this level? (By the way, I'm 89! I had thought I was 88! It's like I got a free level!)

Harvested all my pots, with darned sucky (but not surprising) results. Was going for fire crystals, but instead got 14 stacks of toko wildgrass and surprisingly few crystals. If only I had had those a month ago! Didn't replant my pots, as I haven't been back in Whitegate for a week now. Need to go back soon. Might try for worms next, since I only have one cupid (and a few parasite) left.

Darend Candysense was lost while I was at work. Level 4 undead. Grrrrrrr. I really, really hope it's back soon, as I'm starting vacation and was hoping to get many Besiegeds in.

No fair. I'm going to be farming for skins for the rest of my life. ;)

Ha! I walked out last night with 4 stacks of fangs! :P I certainly don't expect you to get me a matching number of hides! :D

Unfortunately I foresee myself having to do this amount of farming on an almost daily basis. Two hides per synth is a pain. :/

I'll be helping. :) I've got ten levels of crafting to do with those fangs. We're both going to be farming for ages.

We're both going to be farming for ages.

This is the nicest thing -- that we both need stuff from the same mobs, but different items, so we can cover each other.

I have to farm for wool thread tonight, but tomorrow I'm going to try the Glacier instead of CL. Southern CL was really nice though (unlike Central, no need to run from one area to another, and the tigers were hard enough that by the time I killed the last one, the first ones were respawning again), so if the Glacier doesn't work out I'm going to go back there. (Plus I still need lightning crystals -- in four hours last night, there was no weather at all! *boggle*)

If I get weather I'll send you lightning too. :) I've a small stash, so don't need it.

Thanks! I'll send you more fangs for them. :P

I feel like a caveman, bartering in fangs and hides.

Rebellious teenager phase?

And I've been wondering about this for months.. What is a candysense? What does it do, what happens when it's lost, how is it recovered [I keep hearing about it being lost, but never returned..], and.. is it tasty? Do they grow on trees?

The candysense (or coconut, as I prefer to call it), is much like a football that the enemy beastmen (undead, trolls, and mamool ja) are constantly struggling the forces of good (players) for control of. When the coconut is in the player's control (see: safely in the city behind a door that has 5 seals on it), the beastmen will attack the city every 4-12ish hours trying to break the seals and get the coconut. (That's what the Besieges are). When they finally succeed in breaking the seals (which is done by defeating 5 NPC generals that the players have to protect) they run it back to their territory and begin Defending it. The players have to go to an arena there and fight a 6-person party vs. evil monsters battle to get the coconut back.

As for why the players want the coconut. The coconut controls all that's good in the city. It makes the town zone have music. Makes the regional teleports work (runic portals). Many vendors have limited stock when the coconut isn't in town. The Warp Taru's magic is off when the coconut is gone and he'll teleport you way the heck and gone from his usual target. (You'll have to run across the zone to get to where you'd normally land).

Those are all pretty minor. The two more important things the coconut does is gives an XP bonus to mobs that are killed, and it affects sanction. Sanction is like a spell you have cast on you by the gate guards. Sanction gives you IS (points) that you can cash in for items or local currency. You can also receive a sanction bonus that makes it so you have an Auto-Regen (health restore), Auto-Refresh (mana restore), or food duration increased (nice when you're eating expensive stuff). With no coconut, you get no sanction bonus, and sanction itself (just for point accumulation) only lasts about half as long as it normally would :/

In short, life is not nearly as good without the coconut in town.

If you didn't force your bird to spend time with Boose it wouldn't hate you so much :/ Stop giving your poor bird away to people already :/

Okay...try this...

Go to Kazham.
Buy two stacks of Kazham Peppers

Go to Windurst Waters.
Buy one stack of Mhaura Garlic
Buy one stack of Selbina Butter

Either go to the AH or farm in the Sarutas.
One stack of Wild Onions

Go to San D'Oria South.
Buy Olive Oil (2 or three bottles should be enough)

Replace your moogle with a Fire Elemental dat. :)

Now you have everything you need to cook that darn bird! :)

You are a horrible horrible parent indeed!!!
Where is your maternal instinct??
Told you about those greens, they are a few hundred gil on my server while the worms are still near 80k =P
Anyways mine is always too happy and likes me too much, so every time we go on a walk he just says he's very happy and I can't steal his item ><.
But if you think about it it's like 25 charges every 5 minutes, probably rechargeable on new conquest? So if that's the case it doesn't matter exactly when you get it as long as it's still in the same conquest since you can use it all in just a day anyways.
And the stats on my chocobo are still improving so I don't think I will retire it as soon as I get the whistle, color is cool but not all that urgent for me.

Yeah, but my point is that I want to be able to try it. I want to see my chocobo in the field. I want to see if digging is any different on him than when on a rental bird. :/
