FFXI post, for serious!
Oct. 28th, 2006 09:55 pmSorry in advance to non-players for this image heavy post.
Dani: I forgot to /tell you before I logged out, but this week's ep was good. :) I really liked how they handled one part. You'll like seeing it next week, I bet!

I don't know why I've not felt like posting about FFXI lately. I've started a ton of posts but always close the window before finishing them.
BRD static hasn't met the last two appointed times, so we're still 63 (*snugs to Nil*), but we went skilling both times instead. Both dagger and sword are capped on BRD, as well as singing, wind, and string. I rock. Rock back and forth as I play, that is.
Wednesday we did our usual three Celery runs. (Why the heck is a BC against ghosts called Celery?) Won all three, simple as pie.

And this is always nice to see. Too bad it's just until some manaburn comes along.

I spotted a sweet bazaar message. Can anyone tell me what the squiggle-talk in it means?

Next time you all see Caboose, make sure to congratulate him.

And lastly: A random scene from Besieged. They sure did change it a lot. Midgar had a level 4 Undead wave with barely 300 in the zone. In the past, that would have flattened us in moments, but instead we won it without losing a single general. (We still have all 5, even with it up to a level 4.) Nicely it gave me 710 XP, too (the max, it seems). 710 XP isn't a bad reward for what must have been less than 20 minutes. I'm not having as much fun with some of the items as some people are (if you don't go /WHM, I can see where they'd be a ton more useful), but I still use some of them.

Date: 2006-10-29 05:30 am (UTC)Sometimes your expressions remind me of an episode of Futurama, with the Nibblonians:
"Nibbler: Sometimes I fear we *are* cute. Fiona: Oh, niggle-snoosh!"
How fast is your chocobo improving? Did you try digging with that weird beak of his?
Also, what's with not posting comments on my LJ anymore? Is it because my last post wasn't exactly flattering to DRKs? =P

Date: 2006-10-30 10:14 pm (UTC)If you don't mind me hijacking a misquestion. That one is "Undying Promise". I used to do it fairly often with 2 friends of mine, but haven't lately for lack of time/inclination.
We usually do it as WHM/BLM (Hume), PLD/WAR (Taru), MNK/WAR||NIN (Mithra). Doing it as /NIN was an experiment with so-so results. I did take less damage, but my damage output was also noticeably less and the key of this BC seems to be pacing. I have H2H merited so that I can do Raging Fists at 40, though before that I'd use Combo. The PLD and I would do Red Lotus Blade => Combo/Raging Fists for Fusion.
For the BC itself. We'd enter, get buffed up, have our WHM rest to full. Both the PLD and I are carrying HiPots. The PLD and WHM both have Yagudo drinks and keep those up at all times. Fight starts and the WHM lands Para, Dia, Blind if possible, tosses out the Regens, and then rests. The first couple rounds the WHM needs to conserve MP as much as possible, so most of the healing to me (since I'm the hate stealing whore) is coming from HiPots and the PLD. I also carry Eye Drops so the WHM doesn't have to get up from resting to Blindna me.
I gain TP at a much quicker rate than the PLD, but I usually sit on it unless the mob still has about 80% HP. (I mess up hate if I go every time I have TP. Need to communicate with the PLD and make sure Cover / hate abilities are up if I use TP earlier.) We try to finish every mob with Red Lotus => Raging Fist => Fusion and it dies.
Finish the first mob that way. Second mob that way. Starting with the third mob, if MP is still looking good, the WHM may start Banish bursting on Fusion to kill the mob. As a MNK, I usually save my Focus and Berserk until the latter half of the fight. (The third and four skeles are more dodgy IIRC.)
For equipment, I can only really tell you the MNK end of things, though I think the WHM builds towards max MP at start / HMP+. By the end of the fight usually both the PLD and the WHM's MP are pretty drained, but I don't think we've ever lost, so something's gotta be going right for us o.ob

Date: 2006-10-29 10:03 pm (UTC)Celery used to be a chthonian symbol (related to spirits of the underworld) in Ancient Greece, and were used as garlands for the dead. Don't know if this is what SE had in mind, but it's the closest I can think of.

Date: 2006-10-30 10:20 pm (UTC)In the wave I didn't get kicked out of, it was Mamool Ja, and that 2 headed Mamool Ja had a taunting cutscene right after the general :o It was cool. I ran over to it and poked at it. Very neat looking mob :D
