I love this commercial so much! Yay finding a copy of it on YouTube! Gears of War is (I think) a first person shooter, but the commercial is so well done that it appeals to a mostly non-gamer (and for sure a non-FPS) like me. The song is so pretty and it's so odd with the action on the screen. (And the game graphics are really nice, too!)

The song is Mad World by Gary Jules. The song was originally done by Tears for Fears, but this is one of those cases where I actually like a cover more (See also the Johnny Cash version of Hurt).

Tears for Fears, wow! I used to love them. I bet it sounded like a totally different song though.

Yeah, the original was Totally 80's, and not in a good way. The instrumentation really didn't match up to the tone of the song.

I can't imagine much working outside of what's used in this version. (Unfortunately now it's stuck in my head and is annoying me. I've been repeating the same two lines over since this morning. Bah.)

I loved that song so much I went and found it. <3 The combination of that tune and the combat going on is totally surreal. In an eerie and wonderful manner.

The song is also in one of my favorite movies, Donnie Darko. When I heard the music playing in the commercial one night my head whipped around to see if it was on or something. x3
