Darned three hours of downtime were a big pain, but at least I got to see the second half of the Death Note live action movie! The last few minutes were the best, they left me grinning long after the movie ended. They summed up what I love so much about the series: Two seriously smart guys in a game of chess, no good guy and no bad guy, yet both think they're the good guy. Such a great story. :D Just when you think you have it figured out: Another twist!

--

FFXI: Once the servers came up, we hurried off to our Carby Mitts run! Six LS folks needed them, me included, and we all got them! Yay!

After that we did some Bastok missions for folks. It ran a bit longer than we had hoped, but they're all advancing and soon people will be able to get the hell out of Bastok. :D Always a worthy cause!

I spent much of the rest of the night working on skilling gold on Chaser. She's up to 20! I was hoping 18 was when you could start guild turn-ins, but it's 28. Bah. Want to have her working on guild points as early as possible so she can get the glasses and apron as soon as they become available to her.

Monday is Eco/Escort and Tuesday is Assault static, so likely no more gold skilling till Wednesday.

To do: Buy new pants for BRD 72 before Saturday. Get Chaser to Jeuno to buy airship pass. Get Chaser to Selbina to feed the sheep until they explode and shower her in fame. She SO needs a bigger gobbiebag! Also want to buy a Bastok aketon for her, as well as a mess of bookshelves for fire moghancements in her home.

Screenshots one night soon! It's late again!

Want a square of Moblinweave? I've got a bunch on Kyssa from my attempts to farm moblin skins. :)

c.c They're, like, shorts woven with strips of mis-matched brown... stuff. I'll be happy to be right of them! I'm just sorry I can't store the set; stupid gloves still being useful!

Puffy checkered pants, how can you not love them?!

Joking aside though, I'm a believer in skill >>>> chr for helping songs stick... and there's nothing better than AF1/+1 in the pants slot. IMHO, I'd keep them around! Unless of course you're just getting the new pants for the looks. ;)

I've been thinking about this throughout the day (OMG, don't I have better things to do than to ponder bard pants?) and I think you're right. Since I can't store the set anyway (grrr gloves) I think I'll probably keep wearing the butt-ugly things. I have a crapload of CHR, probably enough/more than I need already.

BRD was supposed to be my for-looking-good job! What happened to that?! *shakes ya back and forth*

:P

Oh, I hear you... I was so bored on my flight back to the US I sat down and rewrote my entire macro system in a honest-to-goodness paper notebook...

(In my defense, the TVs were down!)

I have a solution for your BRD aesthetic woes, DAT swap them! :D

That's an excellent summary of Death Note. ^^ I've been reading the manga, and I really have no idea how things are going to end. (Especially since there are only three volumes left.) I'm really enjoying it.

Thanks again for all your help yesterday! ^^ And I'm staying in Bastok. All my outpost warps are there. ;p Also, if you need help shuffling things around or escorting Chaser, let me know.

Ah, I try to avoid mangas so I can get the story from the first time through the anime. I can't wait to see where it goes though! :D

And thanks! I'll poke you sometime if I need a hand. And happy to have helped!

The Death Note manga isn't terribly long. It's 12 volumes, with a "thirteenth" volume that's sort of a series guide. (I'm not sure if that will come out in English.) Since it's already finished, that means the anime shouldn't have much filler, if any. Plus, a *ton* of stuff happens in each volume.

It's definitely one of my favorite series right now. It's quite different from most of the things I read. I'm eager to see how the anime compares.

OMG, I just watched ep 13 today! I hated that little girl so much, but wow, I'm loving the twist she brings to the story! :E :D :E

And a series with little to no filler? YES PLEASE!

"that little girl" = Misa, the actress? If so, that pretty much sums up my feelings on her as well.

And she shows up in volume 4 of the manga (or possibly the end of volume 3) so, yeah, there shouldn't be much problem in making a decent-length series from the manga volumes alone.

Yeah, her. And would you believe she's even more annoying (a million or so times more annoying) in the live action version? c.c Have you seen that? If not, and if you want to, do you use BT (bit torrrent)? I could hook you up with a link if so!

I don't have BitTorrent, unfortunately. It's one of those things that I've contemplated setting up a few times but never got around to.

No love for Misa-Misa? Thistle, say it ain't so! My heart, she is broken!

(Not really. I love Misa to bits because I think she's more multi-faceted than most people think she is, but I know not everyone sees her the way I do.)

This ep, where she became Light's "girlfriend", made her a little more interesting. I really really really hope there's more to her than meets the eye, but after what she gave Light (trying not to spoil for any who read comments), I'm not so sure... By giving him it, he basically has full power over her (which is cool in its own right, but doesn't give her character much credit).

From: [identity profile] wanderingscribe.livejournal.com
Oh, there's a lot more than meets the eye with her. And I would say something about that last part, but it would probably involve spoilers, so I'm just going just tell you to wait and see. You might just be surprised as to how much 'power' Light gets over her.

Agreed! I think our longest kill was 46 seconds, too. We had about 14 people, and the two MNKs and I went in with TP (me 300%) each time. Poor tonberry didn't stand a chance!

This is more of a footnote, but I had a chat with the reason for the delay after the missions were done. I very much appreciate the fact that people are going out of their way to help us get this done in a speedy manner and don't want to alienate our helpers. Hopefully the point sunk and there won't be any repeats... ^^;

Nah, no worries. It was the downtime in the morning (and a mistake on my end) that really made me pressed for time. I had gotten up early to get my daily work done before the downtime so Mitts/mission would have no pressure on them, but I outposted to the Marshlands to do H&C without checking to see who owned it. c.c It was Beastman owned, and I was /THF. I spent the entire time before downtime running across the zone, through the Highlands, grabbing a bird at Dem, and riding to the Dunes so I could outpost back from there. If not for that, the delay wouldn't have been so bad -- we had good company, and people even got keys and stuff!

Yar, I was mostly annoyed that it took a good 45m - 1h to not get the CSs done ^^; And they were telling me they didn't have time to read up on the prep when I've been pushing it like a drug on people for a week >.>; I'm trying to be good and make sure I have all the info up a week early and people have plenty of time to ask questions / get problems addressed x.x; I *really* want these missions to get done and go smoothly. It's one of the things I'm look forward to the most over the next month.

*laughs* That's what a LS static will do for you! Only 71 now, but @6K, so Saturday I'll be 72 for sure.

One step closer to being done!
