Over the weekend I try to clean up my Tivo. I watched good show after good show, then finally came to the last thing: This week's Lost ep. Unfortunately Tivo didn't change the channel correctly (it does that way too often) and it didn't record Lost. Oddly, I wasn't very disappointed at all. I suppose if I see it somewhere online I may download it, but I've mostly just lost all interest in the show.

On a hopefully not-similar note, why does Death Note ep 19 suck? What a stupid way for a cop to act! And when are we going to get back to the mind games and such? :/

This may be not very newsly news, but please, do yourself a favor and don't try Domino's garlic bread pizza (the one they're currently advertising with the very strange commercials). I haven't had Domino's in five or six years (it's the crappiest of crappy pizza), but I love love love garlic bread, so I thought I'd give it a try.

1) There's no sauce on it. Buh?
2) There's NO garlic flavor/smell.
3) Even though it was supposedly extra cheese, there was very little, very cheap cheese.

So basically it was flavorless crust with small amounts of rubbery cheese. Blech. And that garlic flavor? Maybe they meant the horrible taste I couldn't get out of my mouth. Heck, I ate it almost five hours ago and I can still taste something nasty and not-garlicy. Blech.

---

FFXI: No use posting again later, I guess. I spent most of the day waiting. I have the last of the materials for skilling on Chaser, and I wanted Lightday to do it. ...an eight hour wait. >< But wait I did! Then Lightday hit and the skillups sucked. >< Going to try waiting two more hours for Fireday to try the rest then.

Other than that, the usual: Digging sucked, got Chaser Bubu and Dunes outposts, got her a locker expansion. Mostly I just sat around and waited.

One good thing: Cy needed an Assault done to catch up with her static, so I helped out. Yay fun! Yay getting the AP I needed for that earring I wanted!

All in all though, I can't say much for how I spent this weekend. c.c

Mince garlic (+herbs), mix with softened butter/margarine, spread on bread, toast.
Alternatively, there are garlic butter you can buy.
Garlic bread is like... the only food I absolutely refuse to buy from stores because they're so easy to make and almost always taste better. XD

You don't have to do anything to the garlic first? Like, um, cook it in a pan or something? And what kind of herbs do you add?

So much love for garlic bread! I'd love to make it myself!

Nope. Garlic gets toasted along with the bread. As for herbs, I usually use whatever I have handy, which almost always happen to be parsley (I don't know why). It's down to preference, really, the garlic's gonna be the "main" flavor anyways.

This seems like a good place to mention that Bleach has picked up again and is continuing with the Aizen storyline and Ichigo's inner hollow. If I recall correctly the new storyline starts at about episode 110/111.

Heehee, I just recently got caught up on Bleach. For someone who hasn't read the manga, the Bounto arc didn't feel much like filler. At least, not filler in the sense of Naruto fillers (/cringe). On that note, Naruto has also resumed it's manga storyline. /joy.

Admittedly I do not watch Naruto, so I cannot comment on the *ahem* quality of the filler episodes.

However, I don't read the Bleach manga at all, but the Bounto arc definitely felt like filler to me. You can tell the studios have their hands tied because the characters don't change (except for the addition of the talking dolls. Who wants to bet these are going to be quietly ignored in the new season?). Not to mention the character designs ...

It seems the biggest nod there is to the filler arc is that occasionally Ichigo suffers from a bout of angsting. :E

The filler killed my following of Bleach. :/ Is it over yet? Maybe I should try to get back into it...

Oh wow, finally? After, what, only a year or two? Yay!

Oops, ha, I was responding to my comments in their in-box order! This answered my other question. Yay! Thanks!

Hi, I run [livejournal.com profile] tivolovers. Is your TiVo controlling a cable box? (Sounds like it from the missed changes.) You might want to check this thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=128743) for info on your box.

Interesting! I think my issue is different though. My Tivo is really old and has two little plastic... arm thingies, you have to position them in front of the Tivo to make it change the channel. When they get bumped out of position, that's when the changing channel failures happen.

Do you know if later models did away with those arm things? It seems very silly and not handy at all to have two little plastic pieces floating around like that. (I taped them down to the entertainment unit and the Tivo itself, but they still shift sometimes.)

The plastic arms are the IR blasters - and they shouldn't be in front of the TiVo, but in front of the cable box.

Basically those arms have the IR emitters in them, just like a remote control. The TiVo imitates the cable box remote and sends IR signals through the arms to control the cable box. So you want to position the arms so they stick out in front of the cable box so the IR signals hit the IR receiver on the cable box. The thread I linked to often has advice on where to position the arms.

TiVo normally ships them with double-sided foam tape so you can stick the arms to the cable box.

A few cable boxes allow for control via a serial cable instead, but they're rare - just the Motorola DCT2000 series, and then only if the cable company enables serial control. So most people use the IR blasters.

Ah, thanks for the info! (I misspoke/typed, you're right, they're in front of the box, not the Tivo. I'm at work, so I couldn't glance over to confirm.)
