FFXI stuff

thistlechaserI checked my LJ archive, trying to find out how long it took me to level digging on Thistle. (Only day #3 on Chaser and already I'm impatient!) Unfortunately it looks like it took me a year to level twice, but that was pre-nerf and not digging every day. I'm trying to do at least one run on Chaser per day (10 stacks of greens = ~10 crap items).
Also amusingly, I used to be even more into crafting than I am now! During the big fishing days, I made bait and sold it directly to fishers at the various hot fishing spots. People (I had guessed bots) used to have standing orders for 200+ stacks at a time! Per day! Heh. I was making 70K/day and had been tickled because that seemed like so much. Hee.
In more up-to-date doings: Eco and Escort tonight. Scrolls = halfway to WAR 36! Heh. Another two weeks and it'll be a respectable subjob and I'll be done with it! Then next for scroll use: 11 more levels for SAM. :/
Fun: Went farming lizards in CN with Dani! It still boggles me how survivable BRD is compared to DRK. DRK sucks so much for soloing, but BRD has a ton of tools for staying alive. :/ Also: Long ago I read someone wish for an ability for BRD: Being able to 'cast' (sing) while running. Perhaps buyable with merits. At the time I scoffed because BRD has so much and is so popular, but now I see that it really is almost necessary. It's so hard to get people to stand still! And to keep from saying 'Get back here, you! Now! No, you, stop! Stay over there!' It's a wonder BRDs aren't the rudest people in the game. :P
Even though I only work with a static, I might add text to my macros. Something like 'Ballad in 2, if you don't want it, move away'. 'Melee songs, if you want them, come closer'. On one hand it seems like they might be annoying (same text over and over), but on the other hand, might they help? Most people are good most of the time, but the longer we run the more people drift around. Any static people care? I don't want to annoy folks...
We had to end farming early because a BST was XPing on the lizards. Oh well!
