Yay Assault! (FFXI)

Heh, where else would you hear 'Yay Assault!' outside of FFXI? :P

Even though we were two members short, we won all four! Two Preemptive Strikes and two 13s. 13 is so easy for us! Draque keeps hate on Carby, which means no one ever gets charmed. I dispel the NPCs in the beginning and they never get recharmed. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am~.



D, I'm not sure if your request to do lots and lots of 13 (8 in a row) was serious or not. If it was, a couple things to keep in mind:

1) Ilrusi Atoll is the area we need the least points in, by a lot. (20K there, next lowest is 28K, followed by 33K and 40K.) However, on the other hand, everyone except me wants something from there.
2) Since 13 is our "relaxing" assault, would we rather spread it out? Otherwise we'll end up doing something like Requiem four times in a week. :P

When I pick the four we do, I try to balance it. One easy one, one yucky one, and two medium ones. If we use up all the points in Ilrusi, we'll not have an easy one for later. (Though we might find other ones we really like!)

Basically we have two choices: Spam an area to get it finished or try to spread ourselves out. I was scheduling things on the 'spread out' idea, but I'd be open to either. However, that would leave us with long stretches in the "bad" areas. (For example: Periqia needs 33K points.)



Other than that, nothing big. Digging was meh, digging on Chaser is interesting (every day I see tiny little improvements! They could be chance, but maybe not. Yesterday was the first time I got more than one item in a row! Today I got my first 'uncommon' level item!). Chaser is at 88K/100K guildpoints on her apron -- so ready to be done with the gilsink that is GP!

Thursday we'll probably get some of our WSNMs out of the way, but other than that who knows what'll happen for the rest of the week!

I'm just wanting some reward is all. :)

We can do 700-2000 possible points per week towards some of these that we need huge mounts of points on, or focus and knock off upwards of 4k a week depending on reward. This translates to (And it will vary of course) 6 weeks to see a 20k piece of gear, or upwards of six months if we keep spreading things out.
It's going to take us forever to get it all anyway, but do people really want to wait half a year, or more, for even one piece of the 20k gear? (The cheaper stuff will of course be easier to obtain.)

I'll continue on as is if that's what people vote. :) It's just finally settling in how long it will take.

I certainly don't mind focusing on another assault that people want stuff from first either. Doesn't have to be the one I'm close on. I still think we should focus though.

Getting rank points is different. I'm only talking about 'farming' here. :)

I second the idea of focusing on one area to get the points people need for, say, the 20k stuff. It's not like the rest of us would be wasting points either, 'cause we can buy stuff with our points and sell 'em on the AH for gil if we have everything we want/need while someone else is still going for their gear item. :3 Waiting so long for just one item doesn't make much sense to me. So we can do like... two new ones, two 13s? Really, if it's easy, spam it when we're not doing rank-up assaults. o.ob

That makes sense to me! Since I'm not in it for the stuff (I want just one thing in one place) I guess I didn't think about it that way.

I think Nai's suggestion below is good: Two new ones, then two 13s (or if we like some other one better in that area).

We can stay with Ilrusi, since it's tied for the area people want the most from. However, once we get 20K there, we'll move on to Periqia (tied for most popular, and just happens to be where my one thing is~!), which won't make for tons of fun (unless we find one we like better).

Oh heck, my copy of the spreadsheet here at work is old and doesn't have Des listed at all. (I only keep my home copy up to date). Let me see if I can find the post with what people want. If Des wants a lot from Ilrusi and will be out for a while, that might affect things...

Okay, ugh, Des wants 20K in Ilrusi. That's a problem. He only wants 20K in Periqia (we need 33K total there), so until he gets back, we're going to need to avoid Ilrusi. (I have no idea if he's going to be out for weeks or months or if he'll be back next week or what.) We're going to have to go over 20K just to catch him up. :/ (Maybe we can do a few extra mid-week! That'd be fun! :) )

Bah, I should have checked that last night. Huh, even Nil is approaching "problem" level. He wants 15K in Ilrusi, though we only got... 2K ish last night? So he should be okay if he doesn't miss more.

So what do you want to do? Shift over to Periqia until we're done there (33K) or shift over to there just until Des comes back, then go back to farming Ilrusi?

Waiting for Des isn't fair to the rest of us. o.o So far several of us are doing assaults with other people... why do we have to wait? c.c; They are also always adding things to assault. The points won't get wasted.

True... we'll get points (lots of points for first-time runs) when we have to go back to the area to do new ones for ranking...

Okay, so let's plan to do two new ones and two 13s! Or four 13s if Des isn't back. (I'm okay with going ahead on AP, but I'd realy rather not get too far ahead of him on rank points. I spoke to Nai on IM, and she agrees on this part.)

I was also thinking something, I really don't like the idea of giving up Assaults to do missions. Maybe we can do them on another day, like next Thursday (if Des is back). I really like doing Assaults and I hate to give them up, especially for a repeat mission.

Heh, okay! This coming Thursday (tomorrow) is WSNM for Nai and Dani. I don't know if we can do mine as well then, I'm not sure how all those locks work in QSC and I suspect we need more people. :/ I'd like to get it out of the way though, so I can get my dagger of trials.

Is no problem. If I never get 15k in Iltrusi, I won't be mad. Mark any desires I have for points off the sheet. Every assault has stuff I can sell for gil, and that's most of my intent.

Given there are 2-3 tags per week I don't currently use, I'll be helping some friends get some rank points on the lower rank assaults, and hopefully one day using that stockpile of points to do Salvage, though noone in the LS seems interested in trying it.

As an extra side note, for those who want iltrusi atoll points - the targeting trick still works on golden salvage, just used it.
