Heh, where else would you hear 'Yay Assault!' outside of FFXI? :P

Even though we were two members short, we won all four! Two Preemptive Strikes and two 13s. 13 is so easy for us! Draque keeps hate on Carby, which means no one ever gets charmed. I dispel the NPCs in the beginning and they never get recharmed. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am~.

Assault static people, Draque especially, please look back here. )

Other than that, nothing big. Digging was meh, digging on Chaser is interesting (every day I see tiny little improvements! They could be chance, but maybe not. Yesterday was the first time I got more than one item in a row! Today I got my first 'uncommon' level item!). Chaser is at 88K/100K guildpoints on her apron -- so ready to be done with the gilsink that is GP!

Thursday we'll probably get some of our WSNMs out of the way, but other than that who knows what'll happen for the rest of the week!

Plan A: (If Des is here.) Do one new assault (Troll Fugitives), repeat until we win. Once done, go off and do the mission for Nil. By hook or by crook, we're going to get caught up on ToAU misssions before the update! Unless we don't~

Plan B: (If Des remains MIA.) Des is leading edge of our group, so we'll do repeat Assaults. No mission, as we really want 6 for it.

(EDIT: By request, removing Requiem, doubling up on Preemptive.)
1) Preemptive Strike (Mamool Ja Training Grounds, kill all mamool -- Draque as /RNG, please.)
2) Preemptive Strike (Mamool Ja Training Grounds, kill all mamool -- Draque as /RNG, please.)
3) Orichalcum Survey (Leujaoam, find the ore -- bring invisible and your hatred of stairs.)
4) Lamia No.13 (Ilrusi, help the NPCs kill the lamia -- Draque as SMN to keep charm on Carby, please. Nil and I as BRD.)

Link to wiki Assault page, for more info on any of these.

If Draque wants to go to Orichalcum Survey as SMN, we can switch two and three.

Boy, don't I feel bossy! If anyone has any issues with this, let me know.

Note: If we do get Nil caught up, I'd like to try to do the last mission on a weekend so that we don't have to miss assaults to do it.

On an unrelated note: We're really backlogged on WSNMs, too. We have katana, sword, and staff(?) to do. One more skill level (and finishing of sword) and I can get the dagger of trials, too. If we can get any of these done without Des, let's try? With Des is better of course! But if we can without him, that'd leave more time to mission.

Dani, which one was yours? Staff or club? (Edit: Dani says club!) Is it doable with less than a full party? I'm pretty sure Nai's is, since she was trying to solo it. I'm pretty sure mine isn't, since we need a lot of people to get through the gates?

Want to try for, say, Thursday to do WSNMs?

(Joke in subject line was shamelessly stolen from Nyiri.)

Unless Nil grabs Meyoh and gets his mission done on his own, we'll repeat last week's plan for this week: One new Assault, then we'll go off to get Nil caught up on ToaU mission. Once that's done, we can look at doing the fight we all need! Maybe we'll get caught up on ToAU missions before the new ones are released~!

New Assaults are now open to us! Most of these are no longer easy to sum up in one sentence, so click the link for more info.

Escort Professor Clavauert: Protect the NPC from the undead. Looks a little tricky and we'd have to rely on Draque/Carby a lot.

Sagelord Elimination: Killing a NM, with a twist. (Would probably want D to come as SMN for this one?)

Troll Fugitives: Kill all the broken trolls! Yay!

Saving Private Ryaaf: Lots of killing and NPC finding (see link for 'trick' to winning). (Edit: See first comment left.)

Extermination: Kill all the... various mobs! (Probably want someone to come /RNG for widescan.)

The first repeat we need, let's do Requiem again. Not only is it in the place the most of us need something from, it'll be a new one for Draque.

Are there any we don't want to do? It's fine! We've skipped some before! (Unless you are in the assault static, please do not vote in this poll.)

(Edit: Lost. Oh, huh, I never did see the last ep before the break. Heh. Oh well! I'll watch tonight's ep tomorrow. zzz)

Not much happened, but that was okay. Digging was actually good for once (FOUR plat ores!), which was a nice change after so many bad days. Also did an assault with Cy's XP static, which we won! :)

Did no goldsmith skilling at all, and unfortunately not a single plat ring sold (by anyone, on the whole server). Bah. While I was counting on that money, I can save the rings if I have to; I'll use them way way way later, at goldsmithing 95. It'd be 3 million if all the rings sold at the current price though, so it'd be nice if some of them moved...

Behind the cut is static foo. Likely uninteresting to anyone else, so cutting it.

Another blah day. I think I need a break from the game for a while, which handily comes at the same time I need to stop skilling gold until stuff sells.

Gold: I should be doing happy dances all over the place. Went from 65.8 to 67.1! Biggest jump in a while! (Used 6 of my 8 stacks of plat ingots though, as well as all my other stored stuff. :/ ) But I really ended feeling "meh" and now I have about 50 rings to move. Fortunately: They sell for a profit (at the moment). Unfortunately: Only a few sell a day, and a bunch of people are selling them. Market will probably crash very soon. (I lost about 450K in plat ingots, but that was to be expected.)

I need to figure out the next couple levels of gold. I have two choices:

1) More plat rings. I'd have to buy the ore/nuggets to make the ingots, then could make the rings. At the moment they sell for a profit (assuming no breaks at any stage in this process), but see above as to the market.

2) Make something else. Nobel's crown or mailbreaker or something else. It'd be "cheaper", 1 gold ingot (~30K) as opposed to 2 plat ~100K), but I'd have to desynth or vendor -- mostly a total loss.

So I don't know. I'm leaning towards #2, because trying to move things in a slow market with lots of sellers is annoying, plus every broken synth is a big loss (1 plat ingot = 50K, both = 100K).

---

Assault: Luckily we won them all, but the first one was rough. [livejournal.com profile] onionkiri: Those lockets were worthless in the 13 assault. Everyone got charmed off the bat, and kept on getting charmed. The whole thing was a mess until everyone backed off and we went with dispelling the NPCs.

Two members ranked up to Superior Private and the rest of us will next week!

As promised, static people: Hoofprint location site.

Next week we'll do the last new one waiting for us: Requiem. (Yeah, we have a couple we haven't done yet, but this is the last of the ones we said sounded good for us.) After that we'll do the mission to catch Nil up, then we'll finally be able to do the last ToAU mission fight waiting for us.

Hm, for our record: The ones we haven't done yet are Seagull Grounded and Lebros Supplies.

Won all four of our Assaults! Repeat of two 'kill all the walls', then new ones: Orichalcum Survey and Preemptive Strike. Everyone ranked up who hadn't already! And we're 11 points into the next rank! Woo~! Next week, if we win them all, we'll be at 22 points. Rarr!

Scurried off to do digging after that, and actually had a good day for once. First time in weeks! Got tons of ores (4 darksteel, 1 adaman, 1 alum-whatever, 2 plat) and 4 (4!) Philosopher's Stone! I've never gotten more than 2 in a day.

Besieged is about to start now, which will round out the day. *pantpant* So much to do, so little time!

Nothing done on Chaser tonight, didn't have a second of time to deal with her.

Assault foo for next week (notes for myself) )

Tomorrow is just about my only un-planned night of the week. Intend to do crap on Chaser.

RL: Finally the day I've been dreading for weeks arrived: Time to go back to the dentist! Six months ago she decided at the next visit she really needed to remove one of my old fillings and replace it with a new one. (I had a bunch of cavities when I was a young kid, so the fillings are very old.) *twitch* She'd have to drill out the old one and replace it with a new one. *cry*

While it wasn't fun, it wasn't anywhere near so bad that I should have been worrying about it weeks ahead of time. I hope I remember that, because when I go back in six months I'm going to have to have another replaced. :P

Worst part is how much it hurts now, but I think it's only partially because of the tooth. I was so tensed and had to keep my mouth open for a whole hour, I think a muscle there kinked up or something. Whatever the reason, it's swollen and throbbing and hurts like heck tonight. Just opening my mouth to chew (or laugh) hurts. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be better.

FFXI: Remember when I made daily posts about the game? Don't know why I don't feel like it anymore. :/ Sometimes we do exciting stuff and sometimes it's just a normal day, but either way I haven't felt like writing about it in a long while. I really liked the daily posts; it's so much fun to go back and look at the old ones, in a year there won't be year-old ones to look back at! Maybe I'll do nightly posts and get back into the mood... I need to take more screenshots, too!

Tuesday was our Assault static! Yay! We were only able to do three runs, so we did Kill All Wall x2 and Kill All Worms x1. While the Worms zone was beautiful, I'd like to punch whoever decided that we need another Ordelle's Caves-like zone. (The stairs! My god, the stairs! If you're going to put stairs in a zone, make them work!) Even if there hadn't been stairs I'm not sure I would have liked the Worms one all that much -- we were moving and running around so fast I couldn't keep songs up on people. :/ Between that and not being able to get into position (*throws himself at stairs, gets no where*) I felt like I was useless for anything other than sleeping the worms. We rocked the Walls one as usual; it's so cool to end with 5-10 minutes left. :D (And we beat the Worms one, too. Three wins, yay!)

Soon I'm going to ask static-folks to give me a list of what items they want from where. I have some ideas on how to organize that on a spreadsheet. Not yet though, I think we need a couple more ranks before we start thinking about farming?

Other than that, I'm sort of, a little, sometimes working on XPing SMN and BST. I got SAM to 25 and waiting there for our subjob static to start. BRD (71) won't ding this week. Need two more levels on WAR, but I'm mostly working on that with XP scrolls.

Exciting, huh? :P

Death Note may be the best anime series I've ever seen. I know, I know, unless it's shown on Cartoon Network I never watch anime anymore, but wow. If more of it was like Death Note, I'd make the time for it!

Spoilers to, um, a couple eps in? Basic plot foo, question-ish thought. )

If you've not checked out the series, do yourself a favor and do so. All the subbed eps so far are up on YouTube, just do a search!

That leads me to my big big request: Is there a torrent or something for the live action Death Note movie? A subbed version? There's a copy floating around on YouTube but the subbing is highly sucky (lots of Chinese in with the English) and the soundtrack is off by like 60 seconds. It looked highly cool though and I'd love to see it! I'd dust off BT to get a copy. :D

-----

FFXI, general: Meh. Haven't been writing about stuff lately. Stuff happens, some of it good and some of it bad. BRD hit 71, fellowship NPC hit 65. Killed some NMs. Got my one-handed sword of trials and it must be mostly cleared. Besieged makes me amazingly happy, and I still find it impossible to put into words why. Going to skill Great Axe once I'm done with sword. DRK can get the quested WS on that, so what the hey. Almost have my clothcrafting glasses. (I'll make a better post sooner or later, sorry.)

FFXI, Assault people: Two small things.
1) Mind if we do them in this order: wall, wall, worms, GS? I need to change subjobs between walls and the others, and since GS is the most stressful for D we could do that last and then end.
2) Let's do a thing when we pop the chest: Since time is often short, whoever pops it should say 'lot' or something, then everyone lot or pass ASAP?

Work was just horrible (one of the busiest days of the year and I was alone), so the last thing I wanted to do was to log on and do something we had next to zero experience at. Turns out, it was fun!

I wasn't the only person in our new Assault static who didn't want to do Assaults because we thought they'd be CoPish, but just the opposite! Reasonably challenging, not too long, and fun! (I had to laugh at how gun shy CoP missions have made us of game stuff.)

We did three instead of four, and while we only won one, that was more than I expected. (Most of us had never done an Assault before; we had almost no plans and only knew what to expect by reading web pages.)

Excavation Duty (kill all the walls!) was our first one, and we lost badly (ran out of time), but it was totally understandable. Not knowing the best way for our group, we tried killing the micemen for bombs. Ran out of time before we were halfway done.

But we knew we could beat it (we took down each wall in minutes, it was killing the mobs that ate our time), so we tried it again. NIN, NIN, SAM, SAM, WHM, BRD kicked butt! It was cake, we strolled through with plenty of time.

The last one was what many of us thought would be an easy one: Golden Salvage. None of us wanted to leech, but one of the SAMs has SMN 75, so we all sat at the end and waited for him to find the right chest (until we left to deal with aggro). Wouldn't you know it, it was in the very last chest checked? >< We lost, but if we had literally seconds more, we would have won. Maybe two seconds would have made the difference. (All I needed to do was turn and click on the ... end thingie. I didn't even have to take a step, just turn and click.)

Next week we're doing the Kill All Walls again (twice), then Kill All Worms (the one we skipped tonight to repeat Walls), and re-trying Golden Salvage. I'm really amazed that this is actually fun, and I can't wait to do it again!

After that we killed Nai's BLU AF3 mob (a mindflayer).

After that I traded in my 1,000 bronze coins for the silly turban. (Screenshots some other night.)

I was dead tired and it was late, but I still hadn't gone digging, so I decided to. Good thing I did! I went to Meri Mountains with the intent of vendoring everything that wasn't gold (didn't want to deal with muling, zzz), but I came back with a great haul! 6 gold beastcoins, 1 gold ore, 1 darksteel ore, 1 aluminum ore.

Zzzz now. Hopefully tomorrow at work will be better, but I seriously doubt it. :/
