Smoothie o'the day: A good one! Finally! Two servings of unfortunately canned pineapple (I'd love to use fresh, but I'm certain I'd lose a finger trying to cut it up), one serving of frozen "fresh" strawberries, half-banana (frozen). Finally a fruit strong enough to slap banana down to its place! I couldn't taste a bit of it!

I just hope I'm not killing my stick blender chopping up all this frozen fruit. It says not to use it on ice cubes, but fruit isn't as hard as ice... :/

FFXI: Nyzul Isle is the most amazingly bestest best thing ever! We only had three of our six Assault static folks, but we went in to try it anyway and to farm. What crazy fun!

We only had tags for two runs (which unfortunately will be normal for us) and only got up to two floors each time (we weren't trying to clear). Luckily we had no bad floors (nothing lamp-related). One 'kill all enemy', one 'kill enemy leader', two 'kill key mob' (can't remember the wording on the last one, something about killing one special mob. Basically 'kill all...' until you get to the right one).

So many NMs! So cool! First we found Gargantua, who I had never heard of before. Then we happily found Jaggedy Eared Jack! I have no idea what this odd thing is -- is that a gear? Somewhere along the way we killed Emergent Elm. And then I unsuccessfully tried to MPK Nai with Tom Tit Tat.

Unfortunately things went bad at the end when I pulled this freaky thing: Long-Gun Chariot. We couldn't hardly damage it, but it didn't have the same problem! Nai died to it, then I did, then lastly poor Dani fell. (Yay R3! Only lost about 250 XP.) I have no idea what that thing is, other than bad news. (We weren't a great party setup for too big things.)

<3 Drain II! You can check out this screenshot to either see all my HP (I'm a MNK~!) or watch me inflate a mousse with my crotch. o.O

All in all, it was amazingly fun. I can't wait to do it again next week!

COR 11 to 13. zzzz. I'll probably do 13 to 15 tomorrow night, then I'll get to party in the Dunes. :/ Yay.

Number of Besiegeds caught this week: One. >< Very annoying! Very very very!

Gargantua is a NM on the Beaucedine Glacier. You haven't heard of him because he doesn't drop anything worthwhile--if he drops anything at all.

(I friended you. I hope you don't mind. Nice to meet you outside of Besieged. :P)

Hi! *friends ya back* Always happy to have more FFXI content on my flist. :)

Gargantua is a NM on the Beaucedine Glacier. You haven't heard of him because he doesn't drop anything worthwhile--if he drops anything at all.

Ah! Makes sense.

He drops the fabulous Elemental Charm (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Elemental_Charm)! Which could be useful if you were trying to make a resist set for... something... I guess...

I tried camping him for the sake of killing him but he took 3 hours to pop and dropped nothin'. I wasn't sure what his PH was either so had to run up and down one of the ramps in glacier killing until I realized it was probably just the bottom 2 golems.

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised you like Nyzul Isle so much, I hope you continue to do so :)

The Rampart isn't a gear. A gear looks like um... A floating jack (y'know, the little spikey thing from playing the game Jacks?) They come in single and clusterfuck variety... they seem to be true sound too :/ They hit like kittens, but they're persistant as hell x.x

As for your HP, lol :x Yay! You have my HP when I'm standing in my MH naked x3

;~; I probably shouldn't admit to the regular streaking of Jeuno and Whitegate then, should I? ._.;

The line "They hit like kittens" just tickles me for some reason. :) (In a good way!) Mainly because I keep thinking about SMN. Oh, so you mean they wouldn't kill me in 3-5 hits at level 75? ;)

That said, I so wish I could have gone, Thistle. x.x The migraine lasted until 10, even with my attempt at napping.

No problem! We did fin-- eh, mostly fine with three! And it was fun, that's what counts. :)

I can't wait to see what we do next week with five! It'll scale up for more people, but SAM x2 (and me being able to BRD instead of DRK) will make a big difference.

[laughs] I dunno about that, you'd have to ask Zub, haha. For myself, I was trying to suicide to a Gear so we could wipe and start over. The silly thing was only hitting me for 50dmg a hit... When it hit me. It was to the point where Yosa (who was close enough to see me) was like "o.O; Is it going to kill you or not?" With /NIN I probably could've blink tanked one perpetually without taking much/any damage. But the rules of the floor were to not kill the Gear (with the penalty being losing time/having job abilities locked off if we did...)

The Rampart isn't a gear.

Ah! Someone said it was, and since I never saw a gear before, I went with it. We saw nothing jacks-like last night -- the Rampert and the Chariot were the only odd new things.

I think it's a matter of definition. But for being a mob with the name "Gear" floating over it's head (what I think you were asking), it isn't. A gear actually says Gear over it and looks as I described. Though I think the Rampart/Gear/Chariot are Gear-type mobs (as a family type), which is how you got the other answer too.

Heh.. in both things where you say "I have no idea what this is" it tells you right in the name. The Archaic Rampart is exactly that, a Rampart. (A type of defensive wall topped by a parapet or palisade. Apparently in FFXI they have etherial gates through them, so they're not very defensive but hey...) Long Gun Chariot definitely looks like a a chariot... it appears to have lost it's longgun however.

And could you at least try to make it sound like you're enjoying COR just a little? ^^

Yeah, but... that still doesn't tell you what it is. Rampart? Chariot? Are those new mob family names? Or are they part of some larger family? What are they strong/weak to? Can they be found in any other zone or are they unique to Nz?

And yeah, Long Gun had no gun that I saw. :P

And could you at least try to make it sound like you're enjoying COR just a little? ^^

Thing is, it's not COR right now. I could be leveling DRK or THF or WAR or BRD. It's just swing-swing-swing your sword. The only COR-ish thing is to reroll when the rolls wear off. Low level BRDing was like this, too. Just keep meleeing and oh yeah, re-play a song when it wears.

Once I start to party I'll get a better taste of the job. :)

My reply to you on another thread addresses this a little. For the other questions you asked, Gears are also found in Salvage. The thing is, in Salvage their behaviour / purpose is entirely different. In Nyzul the Gears are very aggressive and want to rip your face off. In Salvage the Ramparts are passive with very low HP, you want to engage, but not kill them. They will spawn other mobs and you try to kill as many of those off as you can for drops before the Rampart goes down. It's kinda crazy and was confusing people in Nyzul 'cause of the differences.

Nice.

I had a lot of fun there too. We managed to pass the lamps floor with only a little confusion. It was the Soulflayers and the Chariot (long gunned for us) that got us.

The lamp floor is supposed to be okay so long as you don't get that 'light all lamps in certain order' one. But really, I enjoy the 'kill all...' much better.

Luckily we saw no Soulflayers at all, but Nai did aggro a wyvern that tried to eat us!

the light all lamps in certain order' is rough, we go lucky - the mobs on that floor were pretty weak. We treated it more like the 'light them all at once' floor and that worked.

Soulflayers link, btw. That was painful.

Yeah. When your time limit is short, that lamps-in-certain-order one could be mighty rough. :/

I bet!
